Jhalakati District

Police arrested nine suspects of HuJI-B at Kademul Islam Qaumi Madrassah mosque of Nalchity sub-District of Jhalakati District while they were allegedly participating in a training session. The arrestees were identified as Mashiur Rahman Talukdar, Moallem Qari Sirajul Islam, Nurul Islam, Jubayer Haoladar, Abul Bashar Mridha, M A Azim, Muhamad Sohag, Minhazul Abedin and Baki Billah.

Jhalakati District

The Jhalakati District Magistrate Court remanded eight suspects of HuJI-B in custody for six days for interrogation. Out of the nine suspects arrested on August 14, the court didn't put accused Baki Billah (17) on remand as he is an examinee of the coming degree (pass) examinations.

August 19 Jhalakathi District

An official of the TFI said that Masiur Rahman Milon, one of the nine suspected HuJI-B militants arrested on August 14 from Jhalakathi District had taken the responsibility of reorganizing HuJI-B.

August 21 Bagerhat District

The CID pressed charges against six people, including HuJI-B leader Mufti Abdul Hannan, in the case related to bomb attack on Sheikh Helal's election rally in Mollahat sub-District of Bagerhat District in 2001. Five other charge sheeted accused are former president of BNP Mollahat sub-District unit Badsha Mia Shikdar, JMB cadres Zillur Rahman, Abu Taleb, Arifuzzaman and Hafez Mohammad.

October 7 Dhaka city

RAB arrested four leaders and cadres of HuJI-B along with fire arms and explosives from Ashulia, an outskirt of Dhaka city. The arrested persons are identified as Khalilur Rahman alias Shahriar (30), a central leader of the banned outfit, Sharifuzzaman Milton (28), finance secretary of the organization, Abdul Quader (40), a cleric and Masudur Rahman (30), a cadre of HuJI-B. RAB also recovered one foreign-made pistol, 32 bullets, and 1,135 rounds of SMG bullets, five detonators, one kilogram of high-powered explosive and blasting equipment from their possession.

November 27 Dhaka city

The CID pressed charges against 13 members of banned Islamist outfit HuJI-B including its chief Mufti Abdul Hannan for bomb blasts at a rally of the CPB at Paltan ground in Dhaka city on January 20, 2001. Six of the 13 accused - Hannan, Mainuddin Sheikh, Arif Hasan Suman, Mawlana Sabbir Hossain and Shawkat Oasman - are now in Jail. The rest seven - Mawlana Abdul Hai, Mufti Shafiqur Rahaman, Jahangir Alam Badear, Nur Islam, Mohibul Muttakim, Anisul Morsalin and Rafiqul Islam Miraj - are still in hiding.
