January 1

In Jhenidah District, Police arrested nine JeI-ICS cadres from different Sub-Districts as they were planning to carry out subversive activities.

The prosecution filed a petition with the ICT-1 seeking to initiate contempt of court proceedings against three JeI-ICS leaders and a lawyer representing war crimes convict ATM Azharul Islam over a comment centring the verdict.

In Chittagong District, 15 masked men exploded four to five crude bombs to create panic in the area leaving three persons injured. Police arrested three youths in connection with the incident.

Police recovered a 7.6mm foreign pistol, a pipe-gun, 10 pieces of plastic pipe bomb, two long machetes, 33 pieces of different types of knives from a shop owned by Muhamad Emran Hossain, a leader of ICS at Balshabar of Ullapara in Sirajganj District.

January 3

Police banned all protests in Dhaka city and locked main opposition leader Begum Khaleda Zia in her office in Dhaka city as tension rose before the first anniversary of the January 5 general election her party boycotted.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader addressing a rally in Dhaka city said that BNP will be given a befitting reply if they resort to violence and vandalism in the name of movement.

January 4

In Brahmanbaria District, 35 people including 20 Policemen were injured as BNP activists clashed with the lawmen in Brahmanbaria town.

In Habiganj District, 20 people including eight Policemen were injured during a clash between the activists of BNP and Policemen.

Police arrested 17 cadres of ICS from Sadar sub-District of Comilla District while they were holding a secret meeting at a house.  

January 5

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia announced a countrywide indefinite blockade of road, rail and waterways.

In Natore District, two JCD activists Rakib Hossain (20) and Raihan Ali Rana (20) were killed and 15 others were injured as activists of the ruling AL and the BNP traded bullets.

In Rajshahi District, Mojiruddin (45), a BNP leader was killed and some 25 others were injured when BNP activists clashed with the law enforcers at Baneswar Bazar of Puthia sub District.

In Chapainawabganj District, Jamshed Ali (40), a BNP activist was killed and 10 others, including two law enforcers, were injured during a clash between Police at Kansat-Gopalnagar intersection in Shibganj sub District.

In Narayanganj District, 50 people were injured in three separate clashes between Police and BNP and JCD activists.

In Khagrachari District, 40 people were injured during a clash between the BNP and the AL activists.

In Sunamganj District, 35 people were injured in a clash between the AL and BNP men.

In Bhola District, 22 people, including three Policemen, were injured in a clash between the BNP activists and Police near Dargah Road area of Bhola municipality.

In Chittagong District, 20 people, including three Policemen and a shop employee, were injured during a clash between Police and activists of the BNP.

In Moulvibazar District, 20 people, including three policemen, were injured in a clash between Policemen and BNP activists.

In Chandpur District, 20 people were injured in a three-way clash between the AL and BNP men and Police.

In Dhaka city, 18 people were injured during clashes between Police and activists of the BNP.

In Bandarban District, 12 people, including two policemen, were after AL men attacked BNP men preparing for a protest rally.

In Jhenaidah District, two police constables and 10 JCD activists were injured during a clash at Sheikhpara when the law enforcers intercepted a procession.

In Sirajganj District, 10 BNP men were injured in a clash with Police.

In Pabna District, 10 people were injured as AL men chased BNP men who had brought out a procession from their party office.

Police recovered 20 petrol bombs from a house in Gendaria of Dhaka city in abandoned condition.

January 6

In Chandpur District, Alok Charkabatry (30) was killed after a truck, set afire by blockaders, rammed his CNG-run three-wheeler at Ghosherhat area on Chandpur-Comilla regional highway.

In Narayanganj District, five persons were injured in a clash between Police and BNP men, who were trying to bring out a procession from Khanpur area.

In Cox''s Bazar District, four persons were injured when blockaders attacked and vandalised the vehicle of District council administrator Mostaq Ahmed Chowdhury.

In Rajshahi District, two constables Shafiqul Islam and Abdul Kuddus were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital after they were brutally beaten up by blockaders.

In Dhaka city, Ansar Bahini member Monowar Hossain suffered burns in the face and wrists after blockaders torched the vehicle he was travelling on to go to his workplace.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu warned that Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the BNP, to get ready to face murder charges.

January 7

In Noakhali District, Rubel Hossain (28) and Mohin Uddin (30) were killed and 50 others were injured when Police intercepted the BNP procession at Chowmohani Rail Gate area under Begumganj sub-District.

In Sirajganj District, Ismail Hossain (35), a passenger of a CNG driven auto-rickshaw was killed and five others were injured, when picketers attacked the auto-rickshaw at Shyamolipara area in Ullapara sub-District.

In Khagrachhari District, four people were injured in a clash between Awami League (AL) and BNP supporters, during the blockade.

In Jessore District, a bus helper, who was sleeping inside a parked bus, suffered burn injuries, as miscreants set fire to the bus at Khajura bus stand in the District town.

BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the ongoing countrywide blockade would continue until further notice.

January 8

In Laxmipur District, Mohammad Yusuf (35), the president of Anderchar union unit Jubo League, the youth wing of the ruling AL was beaten to death and his two brothers injured in an attack by the blockaders at Char Basu Bazar under Kamalnagar sub-District.

In Moulvibazar District, 50 passengers were injured as five carriages and the locomotive of a train bound for Chittagong derailed at Kulaura area after suspected blockaders removed fishplates there.

In Chapainawabganj District, three people, including a Policeman, were injured when blockaders exploded homemade bombs in two separate incidents.

In Chittagong District, rickshaw-puller Sumon (22) was injured when a homemade bomb exploded near him in Bahaddarhat area.

January 9

In Bogra District, 20 blockaders were injured in a clash with Police at Hukum Ali Bus Stand in Dhunat.

In Narayanganj District, five BNP men were injured in a clash with Police.

In Chandpur District, five blockaders were injured as they clashed with Police at Ramchandrapur of Hajiganj.

In Dhaka city, four people were injured after pickets set fire to their vehicles.

In Feni District, executive magistrate Abdul Quader (35) was injured when blockaders exploded a crude bomb on his microbus on Shaheed Shahidullah Kaisar Road when he was patrolling streets to contain picketing.

Police arrested 12 cadres of ICS and recovered five crude bombs and huge anti-Government publications from a house of the Great Wall City Residential Project at Gazipur City in Gazipur District.

HRW in a press release said that the Government should immediately end use of excessive force, stop arbitrary arrests of members of opposition parties and lift restrictions on the media.

January 10

In Rangpur District, Altaf (45), a headmaster of Government Primary School died of his injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

In Chandpur District, 10 people were injured in a clash between AL and BNP activists at Ramchandrapur Bazar.

In Sirajganj District, 10 BNP men were injured during their clash with Police in Dhanbandhi area.

In Chapainawabganj District, three people, including one Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personal, were injured when blockaders exploded handmade bombs at a truck convoy in Kansat.

In Moulvibazar District, two people received burn injuries when blockaders set fire to a bus at Kowla area in Kulaura.

In Dhaka city, two persons were injured when blockaders exploded a petrol bomb on a bus at Kalshi.

In Dinajpur District, a truck helper was burnt badly when alleged pro-blockade activists exploded petrol bombs at his vehicle.

January 11

In Gaibandha District, Parvez (25) was killed and two others injured when blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at a bus heading for Dhaka city.

In Dhaka city, bus helper Murad Mollah (20), who suffered burn injuries as alleged blockaders set fire to his vehicle in Jessore District on January 6, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

In Habiganj District, 20 people including three Policemen were injured in a clash between Police and BNP activists in Poddarbari area.

In Barisal District, two Policemen were injured in an attack on their vehicle by blockaders in Rahamatpur area.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said the terrorist activities and sniper attacks carried out by BNP and its allies in the name of blockade will be dealt with an iron hand.

BNP's chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia called upon the leaders and activists of her party to press ahead with their peaceful movement until the demand for an inclusive election under a non-partisan Government is realized.

January 12

In Dhaka city, Atiqur Rahman (22), a truck helper who received injuries to the head by BNP-led 20-party alliance in Noakhali District on January 7 died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Nine people were injured in six incidents of crude bomb explosions in Dhaka city during nationwide blockade enforced by the BNP-led alliance.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed while addressing a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka city warned that necessary action would be taken against those who are involved in killings and violent activities by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

January 13

In Chittagong District, Enam Hossain (33) was killed and two others were injured when a truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway skidded off into a roadside ditch after blockaders exploded petrol bombs at it.

In Noakhali District, Jamir Uddin (32), a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed after being hit by brickbats hurled allegedly by blockaders.

Unidentified people shot and injured BNP chairperson's adviser Reaz Rahman (74) and then torched his car at Dhaka city's Gulshan area.

January 14

In Rangpur District, five people, including a child, were burnt to death and 15 others were injured as alleged blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at Mithapukur sub-District in Rangpur District.

In Chittagong District, Muhamad Jubayer (21), a cadre of ICS was crushed to death by a truck which they allegedly tried to torch on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway in Lohagara. Two other ICS cadres were also injured.

In Feni District, Belal Hossain (24), an activist of Jubo League was beaten to death allegedly by pro-blockade pickets in Sonagazi.

In Dhaka city, seven people, including a Police constable and two Ansar members, were injured in crude bomb attacks.

In Chapainawabganj Dsitrict, two truck drivers were seriously injured when blockade supporters hurled bombs at their vehicles in Rasulpur area.

January 15

In Gazipur District, bus helper Tofazzal Hossain (17) was burnt to death while he was asleep inside the bus at Mohishbathan Bot Tola on Dhaka-Tangail Highway.

In Dhaka city, private car driver Abul Kalam (26), who suffered 33 percent burns in a petrol bomb attack at Moghbazar died at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

In Moulvibazar District, 20 people, including three Policemen, were injured in a clash between Police and BNP activists on Saifur Rahman road.

In Habiganj District, three persons, who were on a motorbike, suffered burn injuries as alleged blockaders threw a crude bomb at them.

In Natore District, pro-blockade pickets torched a Rajshahi-bound cement-laden truck and looted money from its driver in Ahammadpur area. Both the driver and helper were injured.

In Rangpur District, Police arrested 17 cadres of ICS for their alleged links with arson attack on a bus which claimed five lives.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad said that the AL-led 14-party alliance will not hold talks with the BNP-led 20-party alliance and announced that the country's local administrations would help the 14-party alliance to form "Anti-Subversive Acts Committees" in every District.

January 16

In Chapainawabganj District, Motiur Rahman (22), a union-level leader of JCD was killed during a gunfight with law enforcers. A pistol, a revolver, two light guns, two other guns, three magazines, five bullets, 17 crude bombs, 10 petrol bombs and five sharp weapons were recovered on the spot.

In Noakhali District, five persons were injured when pro-blockade pickets set fire to a vegetable laden truck at Mandari Bazar.

In Sirajganj District, a trucker suffered burn injuries after blockaders hurled petrol bombs at his tomato-laden truck near the Bangabandhu Bridge.

In Feni District, blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at a truck near Charipur Industrial Area in which the driver was injured.

Unidentified miscreants severed the tendons of both legs of Ponki Miah, an activist of BCL at Shah Paran gate in Sylhet city of Sylhet District.

Police arrested 49 activists of the BNP and its allies from the seven sub-Districts of Gaibandha District in a move to avert further untoward situation during the ongoing blockade.

Self-proclaimed "real BNP leader" Kamrul Hasan Nasim at a press conference in Dhaka city issued an ultimatum for Begum Khaleda Zia to step down as BNP chairperson and dissolve all committees by February 2.

Expressing concern over the political situation in Bangladesh, the UNHRC urged all political parties to show restraint and bring an immediate end to violence.

January 17

In Dhaka city, 13 Policemen and nine others were injured in two attacks. Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus carrying around 30 policemen near Matsya Bhaban intersection injuring 13 Policemen. In another incident, nine passengers were injured after blockaders torched a bus in Mohammadpur.

In Chittagong District, a rickshaw puller was burnt when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at his rickshaw in Akber Shah area.

In Chapainawabganj District, RAB arrested three cadres of JeI-ICS and recovered 1.05 kg of gunpowder from Baroghoria area. The arrestees were Imran Ali (20), Mohammad Masum (21) and Shamsul Haque (44).

January 18

In Barisal District, Sohag Biswas (18), a truck helper was burnt to death as alleged pro-blockade pickets hurled a petrol bomb at the vehicle in Uzirpur.

In Comilla District, 20 people, including four Policemen, were injured as BNP activists clashed with ruling Awami League (AL) men.

In Dhaka city, four persons were injured when blockaders riding motorbike hurled petrol bombs at a Bikalpa Paribahan bus and fled setting the vehicle on fire.

In Chittagong District, three persons were injured when pro-blockade pickets threw crude bombs at a bus carrying a bridal party to the port city.

In Gaibandha District, three people suffered injuries as alleged blockaders vandalised a truck at Balachira on Gaibandha-Sunderganj road.

PM Sheikh Hasina Wajed asked the Police to hunt down the petrol bomb makers and throwers, and those responsible for other arson attacks across the country.

DMP arrested four members of ISIS, including its coordinator in Bangladesh, from Dhaka city's Jatrabari. The coordinator of ISIS in Bangladesh was identified as Sakhawatul Kabir.

January 19

A JeI leader was killed in a gunfight with Police at Motijheel in Dhaka city. The deceased, Imrul Qayes (35), was the ward-1 councillor of Narail municipality and also the president of the JeI.

Police recovered the body of Nasir Uddin (45), a 'regional commander' of PBCP-Janajuddha from a field at Mohonpur village of Jhenidah District.

In Dhaka city, Police shot an alleged blockader in Shahbagh while he was fleeing after hurling a crude bomb at a bus around. In another incident, a tea vendor suffered injuries as a crude bomb went off at a lane in West Islambagh.

In Bogra District, Police arrested four blockaders and recovered a petrol bomb in Rupihara area on the Bogra-Natore road in Nandigram.

In Rangpur District, Police arrested Bulbul Ahmed alias Bomaru Mintu'a (30), a cadre of ICS who was one of the main suspects of the arson attack in Mithapukur that left five bus passengers dead and over a dozen injured on January 14.

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia addressing a crowded press conference at her Gulshan office in Dhaka city said that the ongoing countrywide blockade programme would continue till the next announcement is made.

Syed Mohammad Qaisar (74), a former state minister for agriculture in HM Ershad-led regime challenged the death penalty handed down on him by the ICT-2 for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.

January 20

In Dhaka city, a leader of JCD was killed in a shootout with Police. The victim, Nuruzzaman Jonny, was general secretary of Khilgaon unit JCD.

Monwara Begum, a victim of petrol bomb attack on a bus in Mithapukur of Rangpur District succumbed to her burn injuries in Dhaka city.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed told the Parliament that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia would have to stand for trial as a "killer" for killing innocent people in the name of movement.

January 21

In Dhaka city, 20 people were injured in different areas of the city in hit-and-run arson attacks by suspected opposition men.

In Barisal District, six people were injured as pickets hurled a petrol bomb in a running bus near Khoyrabad Bridge on Barisal-Kuakata highway.

In Chittagong District, three Police Constables were injured as suspected blockade supporters hurled two crude bombs targeting them at Chandgaon. In another incident, Sakibul Islam, a leader of ICS was injured while trying to explode homemade bombs at Kadamtali.

In Mymensingh District, one person was injured as pickets hurled a petrol bomb in a Chittagong-bound train. No damage was caused to the train.

Three people were injured in an explosion when the bomb a leader of JCD making went off at Lalbagh in Dhaka city.

Police busted a bomb-making factory of ICS in Mohakhali in Dhaka city and recovered 130 crude bombs, two litres of petrol, one kilogram of gunpowder and other bomb-making materials. Police also arrested five leaders and cadres of ICS.

January 22

In Dhaka city, Sanjid Hossain Ovi, an eleventh grader of Kabi Nazrul Government College succumbed to his injuries. Separately, Mahbubur Rahman Bappy (28), general secretary of JCD succumbed to his injuries. In another incident, a human haulier helper was injured in a crude bomb attack at Mohammadpur.

In Bogra District, three people were injured, two critically, in a petrol bomb attack on a truck. The injured are Titon Mia, Sujon and Abdur Rahim.

In Dinajpur District, three people were burnt badly as pro-blockade activists hurled a petrol bomb at a truck at Bhatgaon.

In Rajshahi District, a pedestrian and two employees of a printing press suffered injuries as suspected blockaders attacked a convoy of 25 goods-carrying trucks at Dorikhorbona.

In Chittagong District, a garment worker was injured as blockade supporters hurled brickbats at a bus carrying workers in Panchlaish.

In Rajabari District, Joint Force members arrested Anarul Islam (23), a cadre of ICS at BGB check post at Godagari. Police recovered two firearms and ammunition from him.

DCCI President Hossain Khaled said that in the last 16 days' political unrest the economy lost at least BTK 36,445 crore. The figure is equivalent to 2.69 percent of the GDP.

January 23

In Dhaka city, Abdur Rahim (30) succumbed to his burn injuries he had received in a petrol bomb attack by pickets at DMCH. In another similar incident, a 12-year-old boy named Zakir Hossain also died in DMCH from burn injuries he had received.

In Sylhet District, an auto-rickshaw driver, Shahjahan Miah (30), was killed and two others were injured when a truck crashed into a three-wheeler in its bid to escape a petrol bomb attack at Lamakazi.

In Dhaka city, 29 people received burn injuries when assailants hurled petrol bombs on Demra-bound bus of Glory Express from Gulistan with 38 passengers in Jatrabari area.

In Rajshahi District, eight passengers were injured when two buses were torched by the blockaders.

Two cadres of ICS were injured when a mob beat up after they torched a passenger bus in Paba sub-District of Rajshahi District.

Leader of the opposition in Parliament Raushan Ershad while talking to reporters after visiting the burn unit of DMCH in Dhaka city said that the current political problem will be resolved very soon.

January 25

Detectives arrested eight cadres of ICS in Jamilnagar area of Bogra District on charge of abducting Abdul Halim (35).

January 26

In Rangpur District, Abdul Malek (50), a small trader, breathed his last at the Intensive Care Unit of Rangpur Medical College Hospital’s burn unit. Malek suffered 15 percent burns when suspected blockades hurled a petrol bomb at a truck in Dinajpur on January 21.

In Rajshahi District, truck driver Torun Biswas (45) and his helper Shahabul (25) were injured as alleged blockaders torched the truck in Charghat.

In Thakurgaon District, Victim Nazmul Islam (26), a pick-up van driver, was burnt as blockaders torched his vehicle on the Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway.

22 activists of the BNP and its allies were arrested from Dhaka city over charges of subversive activities.

January 27

In Dhaka city, truck driver Bakul Debnath (35) succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Bakul suffered burn injuries in an arson attack on his vehicle in Sylhet District on January 20.

In Rangpur District, Abdur Rashid (38), helper of a truck who suffered burn injuries when some alleged blockaders set fire to his truck on January 24, died at RMCH.

In Habiganj District, 20 people including three Policemen were injured in a clash between law enforcers and blockaders in College Road area in Chunarughat.

In Chittagong District, truck driver Azizur Rahman (35) and his helper Muhamad Shamim (23), suffered burn injuries as alleged blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at their vehicle at Sitakunda on the Dhaka- Chittagong Highway.

In Dhaka city, a pedestrian was injured as alleged blockaders exploded several crude bombs near Sundarban Super Market at Gulistan.

Asadullah Tuhin (20), a leader of ICS was killed after being hit by a speeding truck while fleeing RAB custody in Chapainawabganj District. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed urged all irrespective of political opinions to cooperate with the Police in resisting terrorist and subversive activities unleashed by BNP and JeI.

January 28

In Dhaka city, Sakibul Islam (20), a cadre of ICS, who was injured while hurling crude bombs in Chittagong District, succumbed to his injuries at Apollo Hospital.

Nurul Islam (45), a leader of JeI was killed in Rajshahi District in a shootout with Police. Two Police constables were also injured during the gunfight. A revolver, five bullets and 10 crude bombs were recovered from the scene.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed ordered the Police to take whatever steps necessary to stop the ongoing violence in the country.

Asaduzzaman (35), a newly appointed judge was seriously injured in a crude bomb attack in Mirpur area of Dhaka city.

In Chandpur District, Motaleb Hossain (40), a truck helper died at Ghoshairhat while trying to escape a petrol bomb attack.

Police, arrested 125 BNP-JeI activists for carrying out subversive activities during the ongoing blockade. 29 from Narail District, 25 from Gazipur District, 22 from Dhaka city, 16 from Kushtia District, 10 from Noakhali District, nine from Feni District, eight from Comilla District , four from Satkhira District and two from Laximpur District.

January 29

In Dhaka city, nine people were injured in crude bomb blast in the New Market area. Five hawkers, two students, a rickshaw puller and a pedestrian were injured in the incident.

In Jessore District, Nawshad (40), a mason was injured as blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at a CNG-run three-wheeler in Kalipal area.

In Satkhira District, Police arrested 38 people BNP activists.

In Barisal District, Police arrested Habibur Rahman, president of Barisal City ICS from the city for his alleged involvement in subversive activities during the blockade.

President Abdul Hamid urged the law enforcement agencies to take stern legal actions against those killing people by hurling petrol bombs and torching vehicles as they are the enemies of democracy.

January 30

In Laxmipur District, Mohammad Sumon (36), a bus driver was killed and four others were injured after blockade supporters hurled a crude bomb at the bus. 

In Dhaka city, two pedestrians Abul Bashar (45) and Topon Roy (28) were injured after blockaders blasted crude bombs at Palashi intersection.

In Barisal District, a passenger bus operating on the Dhaka-Gournadi route came under an arson attack, leaving two passengers injured.

In Satkhira District, law enforcers arrested 30 cadres of ICS for their alleged involvement in subversive activities.

January 31

Emdadullah (22), a cadre of ICS was killed in a “shootout” with Police in Mirpur Beribadh area in Dhaka city.

In Sirajganj District, Gonesh Das (42), a vendor at a market was killed while four others were injured as alleged blockaders hurled petrol bombs at a CNG-run three-wheeler in Ramgati area.

In Sylhet District, three people suffered minor injuries as suspected blockaders hurled petrol bombs at a passenger bus in the Sobhanighat area of Sylhet city.

In Dhaka city, two television journalists received splinters injuries after alleged blockaders’ hurled crude bombs on Dhaka University campus.

In Rajshahi District two cadres of ICS were arrested red-handed while they were fleeing after hurling crude bombs at Police. The two arrested are Saiful Islam Selim (35) and Nawshad Ali (19).

In Chittagong District, Ekramul Huq Sumon (23), a cadre of ICS was arrested red-handed while fleeing after hurling crude bombs at Police.

DESCO disconnected electricity line of Khaleda Zia Zia’s Gulshan office of Dhaka city.

Mohammad Mazhar Khan, attaché at the consular section of Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka city was withdrawn from Bangladesh after intelligence dug out his involvement in terror financing and currency forgery racket.

February 1

In Dhaka city, Nur-e Alam (40), a contractor from Narayanganj District who had suffered 48 percent burns nine days ago as alleged blockaders threw two petrol bombs on the bus carrying him and 27 other passengers, died at DMCH's burn unit.

In Dhaka city, Sabbir was injured in his left leg in Lalbagh and Nurul Amin in his right leg in Begum Bazar.

In Dhaka city, an activist of Jubo Dal, received bullet injuries in his legs when Police shot him as he was allegedly trying to flee the scene setting a bus on fire.

In Chittagong District, masked assailants burned to death Mohammad Mohiuddin (35), an activist of Jubo League to death inside his house and injured three others.

In Feni District, Police arrested 12 cadres of ICS after raiding two houses in Feni town.

In Rajshahi District, Police raided a house at Rajshahi city's Bhatapara and arrested four cadres of ICS's bomb manufacturing unit. Police recovered 10 crude bombs, bomb-making materials from the house.

February 2

Saidul Islam (48), secretary of Bakua union unit of JeI, who was arrested after a clash with Police at Bakua village in Sirajganj District on February 1, died at Sirajganj General Hospital.

Three persons were injured in Habiganj District during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's countrywide blockade.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith said that the ongoing hartal and blockade are not now political related programmes, rather terrorist matters.

February 3

Seven persons were killed and 20 others were injured as BNP blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at a bus in Chouddagram of Comilla District. The deceased were identified as Nuruzzaman Poplu, Mysha Tasnim, Abu Taher, Abu Yusuf, Asma Begum, Shanto and Mohammad Wasim.

In Jessore District, two activists of Jubo Dal were killed as a truck ran them over while they were trying to hurl petrol bombs at the vehicle in Monirampur. The deceased were identified as Liton Ali (22) and Yusuf Mia (25).

In Dhaka city, Kamal Hossain, a pick-up van driver, died of his wounds at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

In Dhaka city, JeI activists Nazmul Hossain and Abul Kashem Fazlul Haq received bullets in their legs during a clash with Police on Rajia Sultana Road.

In Dhaka city, one cadre of ICS was injured during a clash with Police when some ICS cadres tried to bring out a procession.

In Sunamganj District, 20 people were injured in a clash between activists of BCL and BNP.

In Khulna District, three people were injured when blockaders hurled a cocktail bomb at a Dhaka-bound bus of Sohag Paribahan in Daulatpur.

In Sitakunda District, driver of a pick-up van and his helper suffered burn injuries when miscreants torched the vehicle at Sheikhpara.

In Bogra District, Police arrested 55 people on charges of sabotage and arson attacks.

In Gazipur District, Police arrested 39 JeI-ICS cadres during a raid at a coaching centre in Gazipur city and recovered four crude bombs from their possession.

In Chittagong District, Police arrested 13 people and recovered 27 petrol bombs.

In Dhaka city, two youths were killed in a gunfight with RAB in Jatrabari area. One gun, two petrol bombs and eight crude bombs were recovered from the spot.

In Dhaka city, Rashedul (25), who had suffered 80 percent burn injuries on February 3 gruesome firebomb attack on a bus in Comilla District died at the Intensive Care Unit of DMCH.

In Dhaka city, a suspected bomber, Kawsar Khan was injured when Police shot for blasting crude bombs at Amtoli in Shahjahanpur area.

In Gazipur District, pickets firebombed a passenger bus in Noujani area injuring five including a child. The victims are Rakib (12), Mohammad Sabuj (20), Kamrul Hasan (28), Jahangir Hossain (42) and Mariam Akter Rupa (7).

In Chittagong District, two rickshaw pullers were injured as suspected blockade supporters blasted crude bombs.

Law enforcers arrested 34 people in Satkhira District and three JeI activists in Bogra District.

Police arrested three cadres of ICS from the municipality area of Sirajganj city in Sirajganj District.

Police arrested Mizanur Rahman alias Mirza (34), a cadre of PBCP at Marufdoha village in Chuadanga District and recovered four bombs from his possession.

Police filed two cases against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and 75 others as instigator of February 3's arson attack on a bus in Chouddagram of Comilla District that killed seven people and injured several others.

February 5

In Bogra District, Shahidul Islam (38) and Imran Hossain (21) were killed and Palash Hossain (24) and Mamunur Rashid (46) were injured when a gang of 10-12 hurled crude bombs, petrol bombs and brick chips simultaneously at the truck at Belail in Bogra town.

In Rajshahi District, Mohammad Mintu (24), a truck helper died in a bomb attack in Puthia. The driver and another helper escaped unhurt.

In Dhaka city, Shamim Mia (28), a Police Constable, who had been injured while trying to escape a petrol bomb attack on January 17, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

In Natore District, pickets firebombed a truck at Ahmmedpur of Bariagram, injuring the driver and the helper.

February 6

In Gaibandha District, four people were killed and 30 others were injured in a petrol bomb attack on a passenger bus.

In Pabna District, Muhamad Mongol Pramanik (26) was killed and Rashidul Islam (25) was injured while allegedly making a bomb. Police recovered 400 grams of gun powder from the spot and detained three suspects in this connection.

In Comilla Dsitrict, Sahabuddin Patwari (25), president of ICS Chouddagram sub-Dsitrict unit was killed in a shootout with Police in Chouddagram sub-Dsitrict. Police recovered a revolver, one bullet and two petrol bombs from the spot.

In Rajshahi District, Sahabuddin Ripon, information and technology affairs secretary of the RU ICS unit, was killed in an encounter with Police in Rajshahi city. Two others were also injured during the encounter.

In Jessore District, Shahidul Islam (35), a JeI activist was killed in a shootout with Police.

In Feni District, a covered van helper Bacchu Hawlader (28) was injured when his vehicle came under an arson attack carried out allegedly by pro-blockaders.

In Bogra District, Police conducted several special drives and arrested 39 BNP activists.

February 7

In Barisal District, three persons were killed when alleged blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at a poultry feed-laden truck in Mahilara area.

In Rangpur District, Sujan (12), Sujan's mother Sonavan Begum (35) and Saju Mia (25) died at Rangpur hospital. They had been admitted there with percent burns injuries on February 6.

Bachchu (26), a cadre of ICS was killed in a shootout with Police in Nesarabad sub-District of Pirojpur District.

In Dhaka city, six people were injured in crude bomb blasts.

In Narayanganj District, Badsha Miah (40), a trucker and his helper Helal Miah (38) were injured after blockaders hurled a petrol bomb on their vehicle at Kanchan municipality.

In Jhalakathi District, a driver and a passenger were injured when the driver tried to save the passengers of his bus from a firebomb attack.

February 8

In Rangpur District, Abul Kalam Azad (40), who was injured in a petrol bomb attack in Gaibandha District on February 6, died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

In Bogra District, truck helper Hasib (30), who was injured in a petrol bomb attack on February 7, died at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

Jasim Uddin (26), a cadre of ICS was killed in a shootout in Dhaka city. Police recovered two crude and four petrol bombs from the spot.

In Dhaka city, 11 people were injured in bomb attacks.

In Comilla District, two JeI activists and a Police officer sustained bullet injuries in a gunfight between them at Adra union.

In Feni District, a truck driver and a helper sustained burn injuries in petrol bomb attacks at Silonia Bazar.

In Noakhali District, a trader was injured in a petrol bomb attack in the Noakhali town.

In Khulna District, Police arrested five cadres of ICS and recovered four petrol bombs in Rupsha area.

February 9

In Rangpur District, Shahidul Islam (35), a truck helper, who suffered burn injuries in an arson attack on his vehicle in Rangpur city on February 2, died at RMCH.

In Naogaon District, 10 people were injured in a clash between AL and BNP activists at Nimtoli intersection.

In Mymensingh District, nine passengers were injured when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the vehicle in Madhupur area.

In Dhaka city, two people were injured in a crude bomb attack on a rickshaw at Lalbagh area.

In Munshiganj District, two people were injured when Police fired rubber bullets at a procession at the foothill of the 6th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge at Muktarpur.

In Feni District, the driver of a covered van and a day labourer were injured in crude bomb attacks.

Law enforcers arrested 223 BNP-JeI activists on charges of different cases, including subversive activities, during the blockade and hartal. Of them, 81 were arrested from Pabna, 42 from Gaibandha, 16 each from Mymensingh and Bogra, 13 from Chittagong, 11 from Jhenaidah, 10 from Chuadanga, seven from Laxmipur, six each from Manikganj and Feni, and five each in Natore, Noakhali and Meherpur Districts.

RAB arrested Rejwanul Bari (35), a JMB militant, from Rajshahi city of Rajshahi District. RAB also recovered 18 grams of gunpowder and a sharp weapon from his possession.

Cabinet Ministers urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed to take necessary steps immediately to stop the ongoing violence through formulating a new law during a regular weekly meeting of the Cabinet at the Secretariat in Dhaka city.

February 10

In Feni District’s Dagaonbhuyan, nine people were injured as blockade supporters hurled a petrol bomb at their Noakhali-bound bus at Chironia Bazar on the Feni-Noakhali highway.

In Netrakona District, a truck driver named Ashraful (35) and his helper Sohagh (30), sustained burn injuries after blockade supporters tossed a petrol bomb at their vehicle on the Durgapur-Netrakona highway at Birishiri Bridge.

Police arrested 25 people from different areas of Sunamganj District accused in different cases to maintain law and order in the District.

The locals arrested an alleged bomb thrower red-handed during blasting crude bombs at Bandar Bhaban premises in Chittagong District. The bomb thrower Muhamad Rubel (24), a rickshawpuller by profession, confessed that he received BDK 800 in exchange for blasting crude bombs.

Police arrested two alleged razakar leaders, Mozibur Rahman (52), chairman of Khagaura union of Baniachong sub-District and his elder brother Mohibur Rahman (55), a former BNP leader, from Baniachong sub-District of Habiganj District for their involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan while addressing a rally at Dhaka city's Phulbaria bus terminal said that transport workers will dismantle Begum Khaleda Zia's office brick by brick if she does not withdraw the blockade and hartal immediately.

February 11

In Feni District, 34 people were injured in a petrol bomb attack on a passenger bus at Amirgaon under Daganbhuiyan upazila on the Noakhali-Feni highway.

In Chittagong District, three people were injured when some unidentified miscreants hurled crude bombs at Gulzar intersection.

In Mymensingh District, two policemen were injured in a crude bomb attack by miscreants at Mamud Nagar area on the Gouripur-Ramgopalpur road.

Law enforcers arrested 144 BNP-JeI activists on different charges. Of them, 31 were arrested in Jessore, 27 in Narail, 25 in Chittagong, 23 in Bogra, 12 in the capital, nine in Noakhali, seven in Comilla, six in Manikganj and four in Panchagarh Districts.

In Chapainawabganj District, a truck driver and his helper were injured in a crude bomb attack at Nayagola under the Chapainawabganj municipality on the Chapainawabganj-Gomostapur road.

In Khulna District, two policemen were injured in crude bomb attack inside the venue of Ekushey Book Fair-2015 on the Khulna divisional public library premises at Boyra.

Law enforcers arrested 42 BNP-JeI activists on charges of different cases from different places of the country. Of them, 22 were arrested from Laxmipur, 12 from Noakhali, five from Feni and three from Tangail Districts.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed while addressing the 35th National Rally of Ansar and VDP in Gazipur District said that the Government would not compromise with the perpetrators of recent terrorist and militant activities.

February 13

In Laxmipur District, five people were injured when miscreants hurled petrol bomb on a passenger bus in Jocksin bazaar area.

In Jhenidah District, Aminur Rahman, helper of a truck was injured when some miscreants hurled petrol bombs on a straw-loaded truck on the Jhenidah-Alamdanga highway.

In Gazipur District, Police arrested two cadres of ICS, Ruman (30) and Nasir Uddin (24), and recovered petrol bombs and a knife from them. 

Anup Chetia, general secretary of ULFA, and two of his associates, Laxmi Prasad Goswami and Babul Sharma, were given further consular access facilities for six months to meet Indian diplomats in jail.

February 14

In Chittagong District, Arif (22) was killed and four others received bullet injuries in a Police encounter with alleged blockaders in Sitakunda sub-District.

In Magura District, 30 people were injured when blockaders clashed with Police at Simkhali Bazar in Shalikha sub-District.

In Dhaka city, eight people were injured in a crude bomb attack on a bus near Beribandh of Mohammadpur area.

In Thakurgaon District, Police arrested 26 BNP-JeI activists in connection with assaulting Police and vandalizing vehicles.

In Mymensingh District, Police arrested seven BNP-JeI activists from Trishal and Ishwarganj in connection with subversive activities.

BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed said that people would soon be forced to organize a non-cooperation movement against the AL-led Government.

February 15

In Magura District, Moshiur Rahman (40), organizing secretary of Chhoighoria ward BNP was killed in a shootout with Police.

In Dinajpur District, Motiar Rahman, president of ICS Nashratpur union unit died from the bullet wounds he had suffered during a joint force raid.

In Feni District, three persons were injured when blockaders threw petrol and crude bombs at their vehicles on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Madhabpur area.

In Sylhet District, one Policeman and a human-hauler driver were injured in an attack allegedly by ICS cadres.

In Chittagong District, a truck helper suffered burn injuries as alleged blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at his husk-laden vehicle on old Dhaka­Chittagong highway at Baroyarhat.

In Bogra District, one ICS cadre was injured in a clash with Police in Kathaltola area. Police arrested three ICS cadres and recovered 10 petrol bombs and explosive substances from the office of ICS.   

February 16

Eight people were injured in a crude bomb blast when a procession, led by Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, was marching towards BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office in Dhaka city to lay siege to it.

In Dhaka city, seven passengers were injured trying to get off a bus which miscreants set fire at Turag Paribahan. 

In Tangail District, five people were injured after a bus came under a petrol bomb attack at Ghatail. 

In Gazipur District, five people were injured when a passenger bus was set on fire at the Chandana intersection.

In Sylhet District, four persons were injured as miscreants hurled two bombs at a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Mirer Maidan. 

In Bogra District, a truck driver and his helper sustained burn injuries when their truck came under a petrol bomb attack near Patkhi. 

In Rajshahi District, a bus helper and supervisor sustained injuries in a bomb attack in Binodpur area.

In Chittagong District, a passenger sustained injuries on the head when picketers hurled bombs on a minibus at Didar Market. 

Law enforcers arrested 217 BNP-JeI activists on various charges, including subversive activities. 39 of them in Pabna, 36 in Noakhali, 34 in Dhaka city, 23 in Laxmipur, 18 in Chittagong, 15 in Bagerhat, 14 in Bogra, 10 in Comilla, eight in Jhenidah, seven in Gazipur, five each in Chandpur and Mymensingh, two in Barisal and one in Jhalakathi Districts.

BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed reacting against High Court ruling, asking the Government to take steps to stop the ongoing violence in the name of hartal and blockade said that the Government will not be able to suppress their agitation with court orders.

February 17

In Gaibandha District, Mostafa Manjil (32), a former president of Gaibandha Sadar unit ICS was killed in a shootout with RAB personnel. RAB recovered eight petrol bombs, two pistols and a motorcycle from the spot.

In Jhenidah District, Rafique Uddin alias Chhoto Tareque (40), a regional leader of PBCP-Janajuddah was killed by the RAB. RAB recovered four pistols, two shutter guns, 10 bullets and six petrol bombs from the spot.

Two leaders of Jubo League and an activist of BCL were injured in a crude bomb attack by cadres of ICS in Rajshahi city of Rajshahi District.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed urged all, including pro-liberation and progressive forces, to be united against criminal and destructive activities of the BNP-JeI alliance.

India at the Home Secretary-level meeting between the two countries at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi assured Bangladesh that fugitives wanted by them would be deported as early as possible.

February 18

Two JeI activists Bazlur Rahman (35) and Abu Sayeed (40) were killed in a gunfight with Police in Begaritala area of Jessore District. 12 petrol bombs, nine crude bombs, a pistol, a shutter gun and four bullets were recovered from the scene.

In Comilla District, six people, including five Policemen, were injured in a clash between law enforcers and blockade supporters in Bhelanagar village.

In Noakhali District, a driver and a helper were injured when miscreants torched three vehicles at Chandraganj on the Laximpur–Noakhali highway.

In Dhaka city, two cadres of ICS sustained bullet wound during clash with Police in the Mirpur and Dhanmondi areas. The victims were identified as Tinu Biswas (35) and Kawser Hossain (17).

In Keraniganj District, miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a bus that left two passengers burnt.

Law enforcers arrested 250 BNP-JeI activists of various charges, including carrying out subversive activities. Of them, 53 were arrested in Khulna, 37 in Satkhira, 24 in Chapainawabganj, 17 in Bogra, 14 each in Chittagong and Noakhali, 12 each in Gazipur, Kurigram and Gaibandha, 10 in Dhaka city, nine in Sirajganj, eight in Laxmipur, seven each in Manikganj, Rangpur and Chuadanga, six in Chandpur, two in Moulvibazar, and one in Feni.

The ICT-2 sentenced JeI Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdus Subhan (77) to death for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

February 19

In Dhaka city, Hossain Mia (50), a laborer who suffered 60 percent burns on February 15 in Feni District died at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

In Dhaka city, Jasim Uddin (28) was died and Raju Hossain suffered injuries in a bomb explosion while they were making a bomb in Hazaribagh. They were activists of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal.

In Chittagong District, eight passengers were injured in a firebomb attack on a bus in Chittagong city.

In Sirajganj District, five passengers received minor injuries while trying to get down from the bus hurriedly after it came under crude bomb attack near Jhaoil over bridge point adjacent to Bangabandhu Bridge.

In Tangail District, truck driver Ujjal Hossain and his helper Al Mamun Rana were injured as criminals hurled petrol bombs at their sand-laden truck on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway at Sar Palsia in Bhuapur.

Law enforcers arrested 216 BNP-JeI activists on various charges, including subversive activities. Of them, 55 in Rangpur, 30 in Laxmipur, 28 in Khulna, 24 Dhaka city, 16 each in Narail and Comilla, 12 each in Gazipur and Chittagong, 11 in Chandpur, five in Manikganj, four in Sirajganj, two in Chuadanga and one in Sunamganj.

February 20

Jahid Ahmed (52), a truck driver who suffered burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack by miscreants in Narsingdi District on February 12, died at the burn unit of DMCH in Dhaka city.

Five people suffered injuries from splinters as miscreants exploded several crude bombs at Nilkhet in Dhaka city.

February 21

Two activists of Jubo Dal Kabir Mollah (32) and Tipu Hawlader (30) were killed in a gunfight with Police in Agailjhara sub- District of Barisal District. Two Policemen were also sustained minor injuries in the incident.

February 22

Six people were injured when two crude bombs exploded at a rally organised by AL-led alliance in Joypurhat town of Joypurhat District.

A college student, identified as Sharmin Sultana was seriously injured as pickets blasted several crude bombs in the old part of Dhaka city.

RAB busted a militant training camp in Banshkhali sub-District of Chittagong District and arrested five persons. RAB also recovered three AK-22 assault rifles, six pistols, a revolver, three locally made guns, 751 bullets of different types and three machetes.   

February 23

February 24

Mohamad Rafiq (19), a rickshaw passenger was seriously injured during BNP-led 20-party alliance hartal when a miscreant blasted a crude bomb at Bahaddarhat in Chittagong District.

ICT-1 which tried JP leader Abdul Jabbar in absentia sentenced him life imprisonment for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

February 25

One person was injured when miscreants blasted a crude bomb near the Press Club Intersection of Sirajganj town in Sirajganj District.

Police arrested 13 leaders and activists of BNP and JeI from different places of Dhaka city during a drive for planning subversive activities during nationwide blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed while replying to a question in the Parliament said that the recent subversive activities by BNP-JeI alliance during the hartal and blockade have caused a loss of over BDT 1.2 trillion to the country.

February 26

Avijit Roy (42), the popular founder of Mukta-mona.com blog, was hacked to death by suspected Islamic extremists in Dhaka city. His wife Rafida Ahmed Banna was also injured seriously in the attack.

In Chapainawabganj District, Police arrested Monirul Islam, president of the Nachole sub-District unit of ICS in Nachole sub-District for vandalism.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed while addressing a ceremony in Dhaka city said that the BNP-JeI clique is carrying out genocide in the name of hartal and blockade.

February 27

Truck helper Jahangir Alam, a victim of arson attack on a truck in Bogra District during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's countrywide blockade died while undergoing treatment at DMCH in Dhaka city.

Police arrested Mohammad Imran (25), a cadre of ICS from Bandar area of Chittagong city in Chittagong District. Police recovered 16 crude bombs, 17 petrol bombs, two kilogrammes of gunpowder and two splinters from his possession.

February 28

Kabir Hossain (28), who was injured during a firebomb attack on a pick-up van in Narayanganj District during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's countrywide blockade died at DMCH in Dhaka city.

Shakil Ahmed (18), a victim of petrol bomb attack died at DMCH of Dhaka city after he was burnt by petrol bomb at Rupganj in Narayanganj District. Sixty percent of his body was burnt.

Abdul Alim (30), a cadre of ICS had his wrist blown off in a blast while he was allegedly making crude bombs inside his home in Chandna of Gazipur District.

RAB busted a militants den and arrested Muhamad Abdul Hai (36), Muhamad Faizul Haque (30) and Rahima Akhter (21) in Halishahar of Chittagong city in Chittagong District. RAB also recovered 150 kilogrammes of high power explosive material, 76 powerful hand bombs, 24 bullets and training equipment from them.

In Chandpur District, a clash between pro-BNP Chhatra Dal activists and Police left at least five people injured at Chittalekha intersection.

In Dhaka city, Ekattor TV reporter Arefin Shakil (24) and three others were wounded when criminals set fire to a bus in Rampura area.

In Joypurhat District, 10 percent of bus helper Mohammad Ratan's body was burnt when criminals set fire to his parked vehicle at a bus stop. He was sleeping inside the bus.

March 2

In Gazipur District, 10 passengers injured when a bus was torched in Bormi.

In Dhaka city, three passengers of a bus carrying Janata Bank staff sustained injuries when a crude bomb hurled at the vehicle exploded in Jatrabari area.

In Panchagarh District, three Ansar members Moslem (26), Amirul Haque (48) and Zamirul Islam (20) were injured when they chased the attackers of two buses at Jagdal Bazar and Tunirhat.

RAB arrested Farabi Shafiur Rahman for his alleged involvement in the killing of writer-blogger Avijit Roy from Jatrabari bus stand in Dhaka city. RAB described him as a member of HuT.

ICT-1 indicted Obaidul Haque alias Taher an activist of Nezam-e-Islam and Ataur Rahman alias Noni, an activist of Muslim League for their alleged crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

March 3

In Chapainawabganj District, Shipon Mia (30), a driver was burnt to death and his assistant Shakil Ahmed (15) suffered serious burns after alleged pickets hurled a petrol bomb at their pick-up van in Shibganj.

In Kishoreganj District, 10 passengers of a bus of Hazrat Shah Sultan Paribahan were injured when pro-blockade pickets allegedly firebombed the vehicle at Sultanpur.

In Panchagarh District, four persons were injured when unidentified miscreants torched a bus and a truck at Bokdurjhula.

In Chapainawabganj District, three people were injured when pickets hurled petrol bombs at a truck in Nimtola area.

In Rajshahi District, Mohammad Selim (27), a truck helper, died at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital a day after he had received the burn injuries.

In Chittagong District, Ranjit Nath (30), a day labourer, succumbed to his burn injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. He suffered burnt injuries on March 4.

In Dhaka city, 11 persons were injured when blockaders hurled petrol bombs at different areas.

In Gaibandha District, six persons were injured when Police charged batons on a demonstration of the 20-party alliance at Kachari bazar.

In Manikganj District, three people suffered burn injuries as alleged blockaders set fire to a truck on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at Golora.

Unidentified gun-wielding miscreants on motorcycles hurled crude bombs at the residences of six BNP leaders in Jessore town of Jessore District. No one was injured in the attacks.

BNP Joint Secretary General Salauddin Ahmed said "We believe in talks and compromise to resolve country's political crisis. But if it is otherwise, the Government has to shoulder the responsibility for any untoward situation."

Finance Minister AMA Muhith "The dialogue was required for holding an impartial election but the BNP Chairperson did not respond to the call for talks at the time, which was a foolish act on her part. Now there is no subject to hold a dialogue on."

In Dhaka city, 17 persons were injured when a number of crude bombs were blasted minutes after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed's motorcade crossed Karwan Bazar underpass area.

In Chittagong District, Sumon (18) was injured as miscreants set fire to a compartment of CU shuttle train at Sholoshahar Railway Station in Chittagong city.

In Rajshahi District, Nurul Islam (45), an activist of JeI was injured as Police opened fire on the party activists during a drive in Kapasia area of Rajshahi city.

In Joypurhat District, Ujjal (30), a victim of a petrol bomb attack died at Joypurhat Modern Hospital.

In Dhaka city, Suvash Shom (56), died at the burn unit of DMCH. He suffered burns injuries on February 19.

In Dhaka city, cement shop salesman Mithu (24), was injured when a homemade bomb went off in Azimpur.

Police busted three dens of ICS at a remote hilly area of Nunachhara in Chittagong District. Police recovered 70 petrol bombs, 50 crude bombs, four light guns, three rocket flares, 24 cartridges, and 12 locally made weapons.

Law enforcers arrested 182 BNP-JeI activists on different charges. Of them, 69 were arrested in Jessore, 38 in Rangpur, 23 in Khulna, 22 in Gaibandha, nine each in Chittagong and Meherpur, six in Bogra, four in Nilphamari, and one each in Rajshahi and Sunamganj Districts.

Constable Siddikur Rahman (40) was injured as a crude bomb exploded in front of Nilkhet Police camp in Chittagong District.

In Noakhali District, two passengers were injured when picketers vandalized nine CNG-run auto rickshaws on the Dhaka-Noakhali highway at Nadana.

Police arrested 131 BNP-JeI activists for violence and sabotage. Of them, 49 were arrested in Rangpur, 22 in Khulna, 20 in Chapainawabganj, 16 in Dhaka, eight in Gaibandha, five each in Chittagong and Noakhali, four in Sirajgainj and two in Manikganj Districts.

In Jamalpur District, 10 people were injured when a chase and counter-chase took place between some AL and BNP activists in Aramnagar Bazar.

Police arrested 72 ICS cadres and recovered an AK-22, a 303 rifle, three pistols, four guns, five rocket launchers, 64 rounds bullets and 25 cartridges during a raid at Suhrawardy Hall of Chittagong Government College in Chittagong District.

Police arrested 13 cadres of ICS at Rahmatpur Shifair Kamat village of Lalmonirhat District on charge of training on jihad.

Police conducted a raid at Government Hazi Muhammad Mohsin College and arrested eight more ICS cadres in Chittagong District.

Truck driver Jahangir (35) was burnt to death on the spot as unidentified blockade supporters hurled a petrol bomb at a truck in Chandpur District. Three others were injured in the attack.

Five persons were injured when blockaders hurled petrol-bombs at a truck in Matubhuiyan area in Feni District.

RAB raided the house of Rezaur Rahman Fahim (31), a BNP activist and arrested and recovered 20 petrol bombs and 20 crude bombs from Jatrabari area in Dhaka city.

A woman was injured as an abandoned crude bomb exploded at Azimpur in Dhaka city. Zohura Begum (50), a cleaner in profession, sustained injuries in her leg while she was sweeping a road in Azimpur when the crude bomb went off.

March 22

In Dhaka city, Matin (25), Rawshan Ali (36) and Shakil Ahmed (32), all day laborers died from burn injuries in DMCH. They were injured when blockaders threw two petrol bombs at a truck returning to Malikgram village from Magura town in Magura District after offloading sand on March 21.

Truck owner Khandakar Sharif Uddin (40), who suffered burn injuries in a firebomb attack in Chandpur District on March 19, died at DMCH. Sharif suffered 88 percent burns, as blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at the vehicle on the way in Chandpur District.

Yusuf Khan (60), a truck driver who fought for the country's independence in his youth, lost his battle for life at DMCH, a day after he suffered burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack in Daganbhuiyan of Feni District.

ASI Nazmul Islam (40) and Constable Kamrul Islam of Paltan Police Station were injured as blockaders hurled several crude bombs at Dainik Bangla intersection in Dhaka city's Paltan.

March 23

Two persons were injured during BNP-led 20-party alliance's countrywide blockade as blockaders hurled crude bombs at TSC on Dhaka University campus in Dhaka city.

Police arrested Ershad Hossain alias Mamun (20), a regional commander of JMB in Chittagong city of Chittagong District. Grenade-making materials, a detonator, 200gm gunpowder, 250gm potassium, three crude bombs, electronic cables and Jihadi books were recovered from him.

Based on interrogation of the JMB leader, Police revealed that militant groups are working in concert to establish a Sharia-based state with the help of international terrorist group IS.

War crimes investigators said that they had found evidence against eight Jamalpur "Al-Badr men" over their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity committed in Jamalpur District during the 1971 Liberation War.

Three radical Islamists killed secular blogger Mohamad Oyasiqur Rahman Babu (27) in Dhaka city allegedly for his atheist views. While fleeing, two of the killers - Zikrullah, a student of HeI's Hathazari Madrasa in Chittagong District and Ariful, student of Mirpur Darul Uloom Madrasa - were held by locals.

Truck driver Imran (30), who received severe burns in truck arson in Magura District during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's countrywide blockade on March 21, succumbed to his injuries at DMCH in Dhaka city.

Police in Chittagong District in an overnight drive arrested eight activists of BNP and JeI from different parts of the District for their alleged involvement in subversive activities.

Police said that a buffer cell of ABT murdered blogger Mohamad Oyasiqur Rahman Babu (27) on March 30 in Dhaka city and had been planned at least 15 days prior.

A Dhaka Court remanded JMB cadre Hossain Ahmed Tamim for seven days. Tamim is accused in two cases.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed while speaking to journalists at his Secretariat office in Dhaka city said that the BNP should call off its illogical indefinite blockade and strike programme if it really wants to contest the upcoming city corporation elections scheduled for April 28.

JeI Senior Assistant Secretary General Mohammed Kamaruzzaman (63), the third most senior figure in the JeI was hanged at 10:30pm at Dhaka Central Jail for crimes against during the Liberation War of 1971.

Five persons were injured when JeI-ICS cadres launched an attack at Paterpukur village in Joypurhat District. Police arrested two ICS cadres Ahsan Habib (22) and Nazrul Islam (28) from the spot.

RAB also recovered five AK-22 rifles, five pistols, one smooth bore breech loading rifle, a gun, 10 magazines of AK-22, five magazines of the pistols, and 3,668 bullets.

Police said that banned Islamist militant outfits have turned to looting banks in and outside Dhaka city as their sources of financing have shrunk significantly. The outfits also planned to loot money from different NGOs, including the Grameen Bank.

Police arrested Suliman Mollah, a War Crimes suspect in Shariatpur District; hours after the ICT-1 issued an arrest warrant for him. Suliman was an alleged organizer of Shariatpur Peace Committee and Razakar Bahini.

The trial of Forkan Mallik (64), an alleged Razakar commander from Patuakhali District and a supporter of BNP, was ended and the ICT-2 kept the case waiting for verdict.

Convicted War Criminal and BNP standing committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury filed an application with the SC seeking an adjournment from the SC on hearing his appeal challenging his death penalty.

Describing the BNP-JeI relationship as an ‘illegal affair’, AL Publicity and Publications Affairs Secretary, Hasan Mahmud said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia should sever ties with JeI to drum up support from the people.

JeI-ICS’s countrywide 24-hour hartal, protesting the death sentence against its leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid for his War Crimes, ended peacefully across the country.

In Rajshahi District, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police arrested 53 leaders and cadres of JeI-ICS accused in different sabotage cases filed earlier.

With virtually no presence on the streets or even in the public eye, top leaders of JeI are using online messaging and other communications applications to hold "virtual" meetings among themselves and take vital decisions. Viber, Skype, Tango and Google Hangouts are their favorites.

Detectives after gleaning information from the nine operatives of BJG arrested DU laboratory assistant and three chemical traders in connection with supplying bomb-making chemicals to militants in Dhaka city.

A Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against BNP standing committee member Rafiqul Islam Mia and 32 others in a case filed over violence.

Police arrested three suspected militants from an orphanage in Madaripur District along with 80 jihadi books, 172 leaflets, two CDs and other propaganda equipments.

Abdul Matin, a militant of HuT was arrested along with 'anti-state books', leaflets and CDs at DU in Dhaka city.

Sources said that the militants of HuT are now working together with the other outlawed militant groups and platforms to wage destructive activities. Some of the former HuT members were taking training to join the IS in Iraq and Syria.

Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy alias Niloy Neel (28), a secular blogger and a Gonojagoron Mancha activist was hacked to death at his Goran house in Khilgaon area of Dhaka city in broad daylight.

Ansar Al Islam, Bangladesh chapter of AQIS, in an email said: "Alhamdulillah! Mujahidin of Ansar-Al-Islam (AQIS, Bangladesh Branch) carried out an operation to slaughter an enemy of Allah and His Messenger (peace & blessings be upon him), whose name is Niloy Chowdhury Neel."

Ansar-al-Islam, Bangladesh chapter of AQIS issued threat on its Facebook page to six activists associated with Gonojagoron Mancha. Investigators said that 22 cadres of ICS left the party in November 2013 and they agreed to raise an armed group under the cover of a NGO named Love for Rohingya. They later designed the new militant outfit named SHB, appointed chiefs for its five wings.

Officials of Foreign and Finance Ministries said that the Government has planned to flush out directors, officers and employees with links to JeI from the IBBL.

JeI's leadership said that JeI is content to bide its time, claiming that the party continues to run a robust operation in the shadows.

The three lawyers, arrested on August 18 for allegedly financing militancy in Bangladesh, were sent to jail after making statements under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before the Chittagong District Judicial Magistrate court.

Police arrested Alauddin Shohel, student welfare secretary of ICS accused in 52 sabotage, arson and vandalism cases at Shabgram area in Bogra District. Police recovered 40 crude bombs and sharp weapons from the area.

Law Minister Anisul Huq said that one of the two war crimes tribunals will function from September 6 while the other will be kept dormant.

PM Sheikh Hasina Wajed told the Parliament that the BNP chief, Khaleda Zia and JeI were spreading propaganda abroad through lobbyists resulting in losing the GSP facilities in US market.

Hasina said "We've tried some of the culprits of 1971 and 1975. The trial is going on and it'll continue no matter what obstacles come [in the way]."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed said "Bangladesh has consolidated its position on the international stage in such a way that no one will be able to destabilize the country with such incidents."

Police arrested the general secretary of CU unit of ICS in Hathazari Municipality area of Chittagong District accused in five cases in connection with subversive activities.

CPJ in a report said "At least four Bangladeshi bloggers have been hacked to death by apparent Islamic extremists this year alone, and a total of five of Bangladesh's seven victims of unsolved murders over the last decade are bloggers who criticized religious extremism."

ICT found "sufficient evidence" of alleged crimes against humanity committed by 19 persons, including a former BNP lawmaker, in Cox's Bazar District during the Liberation War.

According to Police press releases and briefings at different times, since September 2014, about 15 suspects have been arrested for "having or trying to establish contacts" with IS.

Mohamad Ziaul Islam Zia (38), the 'regional commander' of PBCP Red Flag faction was arrested from Alokchar village of Pabna District.

Police arrested six cadres of JeI Omar Faruk (45), Muhamad Ishak (55), Jalal Ahmed (65), Nizam Uddin (27), Muahad Mohiuddin (35) and Abdul Haque (55) accused in several cases filed over subversive activities in Kala Mia Bazar of Chittagong city in Chittagong District.

Police arrested an organizer of JMB Muhamad Minhazul Islam alias Sajil alias Sajib (24) in Chittagong city of Chittagong District over the killing of three people in a blast during a mugging attempt on September 23.

Saiful Islam (45), a member of JMB was arrested in his Par Kasunda village house of Atrai sub-District in Naogaon District accused in three cases, including a murder case.

October 17

A facebook user named ‘Araf Al Islam ISB’ issued threat through Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker’s facebook message box saying, ‘your death is imminent. You will be killed in the way the two foreigners were killed.’

Police said that members of JMB, who were unpopular for systematic attacks on secular groups and individuals a decade ago, have now resorted to targeted killings. JMB leader Faruq is the leader of the wing that carries out the attacks.

Police arrested 46 leaders and cadres of JeI-ICS in Rangpur District in connection with subversive activities in the District.

Police arrested two ICS cadres Mamunur Rahman, (27), former ICS president of Bakalia unit and Anisur Rahman (24) from Bakalia area in Chittagong city of Chittagong District for their alleged link with subversive activities.

Police arrested seven cadres JeI-ICS from different areas of Satkania sub-District of Chittagong District in connection with cases filed for subversive activities.

Police arrested five activists of JeI from Dakkhin Rajarampur village in Senbag sub-District of Noakhali District while holding a secret meeting and planning to carry out subversive activities to hinder the execution of JeI Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed.

Police arrested two activists of JeI from Terkhalia area in Rajshahi District. Police said that they were absconding in some violence cases.

ABT in an email threatened the media with dire consequences if they do not sack female employees from their organizations. One Abdullah Bin Selim sent the email, claiming to be publicity coordinator of the ABT.

Two cadres of PBCP, Akbar Hossain (45) and Manu Miah (35), were killed and three others injured in a gunfight with RAB at Maisha area of Hugra sub-District in Tangail District. RAB also recovered one foreign-made pistol, one shutter gun, two rounds of bullet and some shells from the scene.

ASI Ibrahim Mollah (35) stabbed to death in Dhaka city by Enamul Haque alias Kamal (25), ex-president of Adamdighi sub-District ICS, when the ASI stopped him at Gabtoli Police check post and began searching the ICS leader's bag.

Police arrested 39 leaders and cadres of JeI-ICS at a library in Bandarban town of Bandarban District while holding a clandestine meeting and planning subversive activities.

RAB arrested Abu Saleh Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, ameer of Satkhira District unit JeI in Chouddagram of Comilla District. Police recovered 10 crude bombs and 10 petrol bombs from him.

One person was killed and about 87 others were injured in a crude bomb explosion in front of Huseni Dalan in old Dhaka city when members of the Shia community were gathering at the building about half an hour before the traditional Tajia procession was to be brought out from there to mark the holy Ashura.

Police in a drive arrested nine leaders and cadres of JeI-ICS from Domonpukur village in Bogra District on sabotage charge.

Police arrested District JeI ameer Professor Dr Abul Kashem from Binodpur area in Rajshahi District accused in several sabotage cases and even in the murder case of Police Constable Shiddharta.

US-based SITE Intelligence Group said that IS has claimed the responsibility of bomb attacks on Huseni Dalan, the headquarters of Shiite Muslim group in Dhaka city.

October 25

Police arrested four ICS cadres in Shahibagh area of Dhaka city on the charge of conducting subversive activities. Police recovered a pistol, 29 bullets and two cocktails from them.

Police in a drive arrested a local ameer of JeI in connection with arson attack on February 6 in Sadar sub-District of Gaibandha District.

Chittagong District Police arrested 16 leaders and cadres of JeI-ICS conducting special drives at different places of the District. Police also recovered 74 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 22 litres of liquor, 250 grams of ganja during the drives.

A Detective official said that JeI and ICS have already sent their trained operatives to the field to implement what has been called "Mission 1st November."

ICT-1 indicted eight Jamalpur Al-Badr men for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War. The accused are Ashraf Hossain (64), Professor Sharif Ahammed (71), Abdul Mannan (66), Abdul Bari (62), Harun (58), Abul Hashem (65), Shamsul Haque alias Badr Bhai (75) and SM Yusuf Ali (83).

Five cadres of ICS were arrested on subversion charge in Bogra District. The arrestees are Shohel Rana (30), Hedayetul Isalm Ujjal (26), Rezwanul Haque (22), Golam Rabbani (22) and Faruque (23).

15 JeI-ICS cadres were injured as they clashed with Police in Dhaka city. Police arrested 22 cadres of JeI-ICS from the capital. Police also recovered 22 crude bombs and a petrol bomb from them.

Police raided Sulob press in Kushtia town of Kushtia District and arrested four ICS cadres for printing leaflets propagating ICS's activities. Police also recovered six petrol bombs, 10 cocktails and leaflets from their possession.

Police arrested Rakibul Islam Rakib, the 'regional commander' of JMB at Majidpur area of Pabna District in connection with the attack on Pastor Luke Sarkar.

Death toll rises to two as Jamal Uddin, (55), who sustained injuries in Hussaini Dalan bomb attack in Dhaka city on October 24 has died at DMCH. The attack was claimed by IS.

A Dhaka court sentenced five members of JMB to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment in a case filed for the serial bomb blasts in Gopalganj District on August 17, 2005.

October 30

Police arrested four activists of JeI from Krishakganj Bazar area under Ullahpara sub-District in Sirajganj District. Five crude bombs were recovered from them.

Police arrested three cadres of ICS while conducting a drive at a residential dormitory on Rajshahi University in Rajshahi District. Police recovered some leaflets and books of the organization from them.

RAB arrested a suspected member of JMB at Char Radhakanai village in Phulbaria sub-District of Mymensingh District. The arrestee is Hafez Mohammad Belal (31).

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal while speaking as the chief guest at an event in Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium in Dhaka city said that there would be no place for secessionists and militants in the Bangladeshi soil.

Police found the body of Jagriti Prakashani publisher, Faisal Arefin Dipan (40), in a pool of blood at his office on the second floor of Aziz Super Market in Shahbagh of Dhaka city. Faisal was a blogger and publisher of the book of slain blogger Avijit Roy titled Biswasher Virus (The Virus of Faith).

In another incident, unidentified attackers attacked Ahmed Rashid Tutul (40), another publisher of slain blogger Avijit Roy, along with two other writers and bloggers - Rono Dipam Basu (52) and Tareq Rahim (40) - storming into the office of the publishing house at Lalmatia of Dhaka city.

Ansar Al Islam tweeted claiming responsibility for the both the killing and attack on secular bloggers.

Police arrested three activists of JeI in Panchbibi sub-District of Joypurhat District while they were holding a secret meeting there.

Police arrested two cadres of ICS in Fenchuganj sub-District of Sylhet District. The arrestees are Mozammel Haque (22) and Rumman Miah (21). Police recovered 101 crude bombs and two pipe guns from them.

Just a day after Jagriti Prokashoni Publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan was hacked to death, the owner of another leading publishing house, Somoy Prakashan Publisher Farid Ahmed, received a death threat, allegedly from Al-Ahrar.

A Facebook page claiming to be run by banned militant outfit ABT posted a list of targets that includes the names of 14 bloggers and secular writers.

In Jhenidah District, Police arrested 15 cadres of ICS in Jhenidah town on charge of planning subversive activities in the town.

In Pirojpur District, 15 JeI-ICS cadres were arrested from different areas on charge of planning subversive activities in the District.

In Habiganj District, 10 ICS cadres were arrested in connection with cases for vandalism, arson attacks and carrying out subversive activities.

In Kushtia District, Police arrested five JeI-ICS cadres over suspicion that they may carry out subversive activities.

In Bogra District, Police arrested two JeI cadres in Shajahanpur sub-District for carrying out subversive activities.

Prime Minister  Sheikh Hasina Wajed while addressing an AL rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka city said that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia launched a secret killing mission staying abroad to save War Criminals from the ongoing trial.

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at a meeting organized by the party's UK chapter at a hotel in London said that the country saw the rise of militancy during the AL rule.

According to the CPJ, a New York-based independent, nonprofit organization that promotes press freedom worldwide, 27 journalists and freelancers have been killed in Bangladesh since 1992. It said that the motive behind the killings of 19 have been confirmed while eight others remained unconfirmed.

IGP AKM Shahidul Haque, the chief of Bangladesh Police, while speaking at the ongoing 84th Annual General Assembly of Interpol in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, said that Bangladesh is determined to prevent militancy and the Police have already taken every possible step to prevent militancy from rising.

One Industrial Police Constable was hacked to death and four others were injured as some unidentified men made a sudden attack on them at Baraipara in Ashulia, a suburban area near Dhaka city.

Police arrested four cadres of ICS from Naharpur village in Chittagong District on the charge of plotting subversive activities. The arrestees are Arafat Hossain Minhaz (25), Mohamad Mohiuddin (24), Mohamad Ibrahim Khalil and Abu Sayeed.

Three cadres of ABT were arrested in blogger Ananta Bijoy Das killing case in Sylhet District. The three accused are Dulal Biswas, Abul Hasan and Jafran Hasan.

In Bogra District, Police arrested Tayeb Ali (68), Nayeb-e-Ameer (Deputy Chief) of the District unit of JeI on sabotage charge in Kahaloo sub-District.

President Abdul Hamid said that Bangladesh has no place for bigotry and militancy and people here have always been non-communal and respectful to other religions.

Police arrested a militant of JMB from Gayeshpur village in Mymensingh District. The arrestee is Golam Mustafa (55), an accused in an attempted murder case.

Denying the existence of IS in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed said a local and foreign conspiracy is afoot to establish that cohorts of IS are active in the country.

Samidul Islam, a lance corporal of Military Police was injured after being hacked with a machete by an unidentified assailant in the Kachukhet area near Dhaka city.

In Jhenidah District, Police arrested two JeI activists at Baliakandor village. The arrestees are Younus Ali, (52) and Nazrul Islam (38). Police recovered five petrol bombs from them.

In Bogra District, two JeI leaders were arrested in Kahaloo sub-District on sabotage charge. The arrestees are Abdul Jalil (54), Ameer of the District unit of JeI and Abdul Haque (57), Nayeb-e-Ameer.

In Chapainawabganj District, Police arrested two JeI activists accused in several cases.

Four charges have been pressed by the prosecution against two war crimes suspects of Shariatpur District, Sulaiman Mollah (84) and Edris Ali Sarder alias Gazi Edris (67) for mass killing, rape, torture and confinement during the Liberation War.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told that the Government has decided to form a separate unit within the Police Department to deal with militancy and terrorism.

JP Chairman HM Ershad while talking to the journalists at his Rangpur residence Palli Nibash claimed that there was no existence of militant outfit IS in Bangladesh.

An Italian citizen Piero Arolari (57), sustained bullet injuries in an attack by unknown miscreants at BRTC bus stand in Dinajpur town of Dinajpur District.

The Supreme Court dismissed review petitions of death row inmates JeI Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and BNP standing committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

JeI called a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal for November 19 protesting at the Supreme Court verdict.

The formal trial of war crimes case against eight Jamalpur JeI men began in the ICT-1. Of the eight, detained Mohammad Shamsul Haque and SM Yusuf Ali were in the dock. The remaining six were still in hiding.

Police arrested Lutfor Rahman, acting secretary general of Savar unit of JeI, accused for subversive activities in Dhaka city.

IS warned that the terror group is preparing for fresh attacks in Bangladesh. In its online propaganda magazine 'Dabiq,' the extremist groups strategic expansion to countries like Bangladesh is discussed at length.

The Government executed war criminals former BNP standing committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and JeI Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid after completing all legal procedures, in line with the ICT verdicts.

In a second attack on Shia Muslims in just over a month, one person was killed and three others were injured as three gunmen stormed a Shia mosque and opened fire on praying people in Shibganj sub-District of Bogra District.

Police arrested five militants of JMB in Dhaka city for their alleged involvement in various subversive activities including bomb attacks in Dhaka city.

Police arrested two cadres of ICS from Jorgahsa Bazaar area of Pabna District over suspension of planning subversive.

A Court in Lalmonirhat District sentenced three militant of JMB to different jail terms in connection with August 17, 2005 serial bomb blasts case.

JMB leader Tariqul Islam Tareque gave a confessional statement before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Mahbubur Rahman that members of JMB killed a pir, his son and four disciples in Dhaka city's Gopibagh in 2013 for their anti-Islamic” activities.

In Satkhira District, a joint force arrested three JeI activists on sabotage charges.

Police arrested two cadres of JeI-ICS from Chittagong District. Police said that they were warrant accused.

In Tangail District, Police arrested 14 cadres of ICS from a mess in Tangail town. Police also recovered a number of jihadi books from their possession.

Ramjan Seikh, a local activist of JeI was killed in a gunfight with Police in the Shashan ghat area of Meherpur District. Police recovered one light gun, two bullets and local firearms from the spot.

Police arrested four militants of JMB in Uttara area of Dhaka. Police also recovered foreign currencies, passports and huge publications of the banned organization from their possession.

Ansar al-Islam released a fresh list of targets issuing death threats against State Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamad Shahriar Alam and seven other eminent personalities of Rajshahi city in Rajshahi District.

A Rangpur Court sentenced seven cadres of ICS to 20 years' imprisonment for possessing crude bombs and bomb making materials. 

Workers Party at a protest rally in Dhaka city called on the AL-led Government to impose a ban on the political activities of JeI and ICS in the month of December.

December 2

Bidyut Kumar Roy (35), a cadre of PBCP was killed in a gunfight with his rivals at Ranigati village in Jessore District. Police recovered one pipe gun, three rounds of bullet and three rounds of bullet shell from the spot.

RAB arrested a militant of JMB from Chechua Bazar area in Mymensingh District. The arrestee is Rafiqul Islam alias Rabi (35), accused in two cases.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed “We won’t allow any sort of insurgency in Bangladesh. We want a peaceful atmosphere in this region. We’ll work for people and we need more cooperation and support from our neighbors.”

JeI ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami (72) appealed to the Appellate Division of SC to commute his death sentence on war crimes charges in view of his old age and good behavior.

Police arrested 27 cadres of JeI-ICS on different charges in Nilphamari District for subversive activities.

Police arrested six militants of new outfit, Mujahid of Bangladesh, from Motijheel area of Dhaka city. Police also recovered a laptop and 10 mobile phones from their possession.

RAB arrested three suspected cadres of ICS from Dhaka city for spreading anti-Government propaganda through Facebook using fake accounts.

Police arrested three activists of JeI in Poyari area of Mymensingh District for planning subversive activities. The arrestees are Maulana Mozammel Haque, Maulana Badrul Alam and Mehedi Hasan.

December 5

10 people were injured in bomb blasts at Kantaji temple in Dinajpur District. Police said that three crude bombs were exploded one after another at around 1:00am in a canopy where a Jatra was being staged during ongoing Rasmela there.

Police arrested a local leader of JeI from his house at Madhya Darmapur village in Gaibandha District. The arrestee is Mozammel Huq (42), secretary of Sreepur union unit of JeI and accused in several cases.

The Central Bank removed Deputy Managing Director of Islami Bank Nurul Islam for his alleged involvement with JeI.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam appealed to the Supreme Court to uphold the death sentence of war criminal JeI ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami (72) as the JeI chief instigated the killing of civilians, including intellectuals, during the 1971 Liberation War.

December 8

Masud Rana (28), a regional leader of JMB confessed his involvement in the killing of Japanese man Kunio Hoshi (65) in Rangpur District on October 3.

Two persons were injured as unidentified gunmen attacked a Hindu religious function at ISKCON temple in Dinajpur District.

Police in Chittagong District arrested the District unit Ameer of JeI Ahsan Ullah and central ICS leaders Enamul Kabir and Golam Mostafa on various charges.

Local people caught a suspect, Shariful Islam, in connection with the attack at ISKCON temple in Dinajpur District and handed him over to Police.

December 11

Another suspected attacker of ISKCON temple in Dinajpur District, Mozammel Hossain, was arrested by Police. Police recovered a machine gun and 28 rounds of bullet from Mozammel's possession.

December 12

Police arrested five activists of JeI, from different parts of Satkhira District on charge of carrying out subversive activities.

Police arrested a cadre of ICS from his residence in Satkania sub-District of Chittagong District accused in 10 cases. Police recovered a pistol, two bullets and 25 sharp weapons from his possession.

December 13

Tapan Barman, a priest of Church of God in Lalmonirhat District received death threat from IS. The hand-written letter of the threat asked the priest to stay ready for death by December 20.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed while meeting an United States delegation at the Gono Bhaban, ruled out the existence of IS in Bangladesh.

December 14

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed at a function in Dhaka city to mark Martyred Intellectuals Day said that no force in world can stop Bangladesh's war crimes trial.

December 15

A JeI leader, identified as Osman Goni was killed in Dakkhin Rahamatnagar in Chittagong District. Osman was Social Welfare Secretary of Muradpur union of JeI.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam stated that Bangladesh has decided to join a Saudi Arabian initiative to set up "Counter-Terrorism Centre" along with other Muslim countries to fight terrorism and extremist ideology.

Humayun Kabir, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rangpur Range) stated that JMB was behind the recent killing of a Japanese national in Rangpur and shooting of an Italian pastor in Dinajpur.

December 16

Three persons including two activist of BCL and one cadre of ICS were injured as they clashed at the Shaheed Minar of Chittagong College in Chittagong District. Police arrested 60 ICS cadres for the clash.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan while speaking at Rajarbagh Police Lines in Dhaka city said that there is no existence of militant group IS in the country and the Government is trying to clamp down on extremism.

JMB militant Idris Sheikh confessed his link with a Pakistani female diplomat before a Dhaka court. Idris said that he got a ride from the diplomat in her car from Baitul Mukarram to Fakirerpool and received BDT 30,000 from her.

December 17

RAB arrested two leaders of ICS in Panchbibi sub-District of Joypurhat District. Two pistols, four bullets, 21 crude bombs and six hand bombs were recovered from them.

A team of joint forces arrested two JeI activists in Jessore District. Police said that they were involved in several cases.

December 18

Six people were injured in a bomb attack at a mosque inside the Issa Khan Base of Bangladesh Navy at Chittagong city of Chittagong District.

Six persons including three Policemen and three cadres of JeI-ICS were injured in a gunfight at Awlai in Jaipurhat District. The injured JeI-ICS cadres were identified as Abu Jar Gifari, Omar Ali and Al Amin.

International War Crimes Mass Trial Committee formed was aimed at building a collaborators-free Bangladesh at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity in Dhaka city.

December 19

Police arrested Golam Kabir alias Golap (45), ameer (chief) of Bholahat sub-District unit of JeI involved in several cases from Alalpur in Bholahat sub-District of Chapainawabganj District.

Police arrested Shahjahan Ali, assistant general secretary of JeI on charge of carrying out subversive activities at village Dattagram under Bahubal sub-District in Habiganj District.

Shariful Islam, the arrested militant of JMB in a confessional statement admitted his role in the gun and bomb attack on ISKCON temple in Dinajpur District.

December 20

Police arrested four leaders and activists of JeI in Jhenidah District for subversive activities. The arrestees include Abdul Khaleque (45), general secretary of Tribeni ward unit of JeI in Shailakupa sub-District.

Police arrested Humayun Kabir Sumon (32), a cadre of ICS charge-sheeted in a case for arson attack from a bus at Boro Dargah area under Pirganj sub-District of Rangpur District.

December 21

Police arrested Mezbah Uddin Bhuiyan (55), a former secretary of Noakhali Municipal JeI's committee accused in 13 cases in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka city.

Benazir Ahmed, DG of RAB during his visit to Kantanagar village in Kaharol sub-District of Dinajpur District said that Bangladesh is a country of peace but militants are trying to destabilize the country by attacking temples, mosques and foreigners.

December 22

Police arrested six cadres of ICS at Rampura in the capital city of Dhaka. Six crude bombs, one kg of gunpowder, one kg of sulfur, nails and stones were recovered from them.

Jagadish Edward, Academic Dean of Gloria Theological Seminary at Uttara in Dhaka city received a death threat for a second time.

There is no existence of IS in Bangladesh as intelligence agencies do not have any evidence of its existence here, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

December 23

ICT-1 indicted former BNP and JeI MP Shakhawat Hossain and eight others over alleged wartime offenses. Among those indicted, Shakhawat, Billal Hossain Biswas and Lutfar Morol are in Police custody while six others Ibrahim Hossain, Sheikh Mohammad Mujibur Rahman, Kazi Ohidul Islam, Aziz Sardar, Aziz Sardar and Abdul Khaleq Morol are on the run.

Two church clerics Bishop Bejoy ND' Cruze OMI, head Sylhet division and Father Boniface Tolentino CSC, Parish priest of Srimangal Mission received separate death threats through mobile phone text messages in Sylhet division.

Fareena Arshad, second secretary (political) at Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka city was withdrawn from Bangladesh weeks after allegations of her involvement in financing JMB.

December 24

PBCP 'regional commander' Omar and two associates Kashem and Saddam were killed in a gunfight with RAB at Omarpur of Tangail District. Three personnel of RAB were injured during the gunfight. Two Italy-made 7.65mm firearms, a double barrel gun, two magazines and seven bullets were recovered from the spot.

Seven JMB militants were arrested from a JMB den in a building at Mirpur in Dhaka city. 17 improvised grenades, explosives with which about 200 such grenades could be made and a sack-full of suicide vests were recovered.

December 25

One person was killed and three others were injured in a bomb attack at Chokpara Ahmadiyya Jamaat Mosque during Juma prayer in Bagmara sub-District of Rajshahi District. Later, IS claimed the responsibility.

December 26

Three JMB terrorists were arrested from a JMB den at Aminbazar in Hathazari area of Chittagong District. MK 11 high precision semi-automatic sniper rifle, five kg of explosive gel, 13 military uniforms, 252 rounds of bullets including rifle rounds, revolver rounds and 25 detonators were recovered.

December 27

Two JMB terrorists were killed when a RAB team raided a JMB den in Vogra of Gazipur District. One RAB member was injured in the raid. Explosives, grenades, a pistol, bullets of the pistol, and books on jihad were recovered from the house.

According to US-based monitoring group SITE, IS has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack at Chokpara Ahmadiyya Jamaat Mosque during Juma prayer in Bagmara sub-District of Rajshahi District.

December 28

In Kishoreganj District, Police in a drive arrested a leader and four cadres of ICS while they were planning to carry out subversive activities from a house in Battirish Bilpara area of the District.

In Satkhira District, a team of joint forces comprising Police, RAB and BGB arrested three JeI activists from different areas of the District on various charges.

In Lalmonirhat District, Police arrested an activist of JeI on sabotage charge in Judge Court area. The arrestee is Advocate Firoz Haider Lavlu (38), a member of the District unit of JeI.

Ruhul Amin (62), son of martyred freedom fighter Yunus Ali Inu filed a case against 12 people including an ex- JP MP for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War.

Police said that JMB is planning countrywide attacks on March 25, 2016. They came to know about the plot while interrogating three arrested JMB members in Dhaka city.
