|
Three Pakistani terrorists of the
Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM),
were killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF)
of the State Police in the Gomtinagar area of Lucknow. Nearly
two kg of high quality chemical explosives, two AK rifles, and
other arms and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists.
They were shot dead while on their way to Faizabad.

A Pakistan-trained Harkat-ul-Ansar
terrorist was arrested from a Madrassa (seminary) in Hapur. The
terrorist was behind the April 27, 1996-explosion in a UP Roadways
bus at Roorkie Depot, in which 16 people were killed.

in Varanasi. Identified as Azizul, a native of Miyan Wali in the
Punjab province of Pakistan, he reportedly confessed during interrogation
that he was an active member of Al Badr since the last three years.

Two Jordanians and a Palestinian
national were arrested after they were found in possession of
fake passport and other documents. Police sources said the three
are said to have links with the Palestinian terrorist group, the
Hamas. One of the arrested accused was reportedly in constant
touch with a few embassies in New Delhi and their personal diaries
and communiqués have details of the Hamas.

A suspected ISI agent is killed
in an encounter with the Police near the Muradnagar ordinance
factory in Ghaziabad. The Police recovered a .30 calibre Chinese
pistol, several live and spent cartridges and some drawings from
the incident site.

in Kanpur, while he was trying to send some classified documents
through a courier to Karachi.

Uttar Pradesh Police arrested
an ISI agent for passing on defence-related information to Pakistan
through the Internet, and recovered several classified defence
documents from him. Senior Superintendent of Police, R. P. Singh,
told reporters that Mohammad Anwar alias Badruddin was
arrested from the Babupurwa locality of Kanpur and added that
uniforms and fake identity cards of Army and Border Security Force
(BSF), badges, stamps, floppies containing pictures of cantonment
areas, a mobile phone and a passport were also recovered from
his possession.
Delhi Police arrested an alleged
ISI agent and his wife, also from the same city, Kanpur, and seized
defence-related documents from them. The Police also seized uniforms
of BSF officers, badges, a mobile phone and its six cash cards
from the arrested persons, Noor Alam and his wife.

Security Force (SF) personnel
arrested an ISI agent in the Zafalgani locality of Najibabad town,
Bijor District. Official sources said the agent was responsible
for transporting secret files of classified defence documents
and passing on other vital information about security to the ISI
in Pakistan. Many secret Army documents pertaining to Indian troop
movement from their respective cantonments to the international
border, maps of these cantonments and States, apart from detailed
description and accounts of armament depots and ordnance factories
were also recovered from him.

Uttar Pradesh Police arrested
two ISI agents, Hanif and Yamin on the basis of a tip off from
the Assam Police who had arrested another ISI agent a few days
earlier. The latter was residing at Jevar in Gautambuddh Nagar.
Intelligence agencies, air force officials and top Police officials
were scrutinizing the details, documents and maps recovered from
Hanif and Yamin. During the interrogation of the two persons,
names of several retired air force personnel reportedly figured.
Hanif and Yamin were involved in sending youths to Pakistan for
terrorist training, Police added.

Dr Irfan Khan, a Unani doctor
based in the Sangam Vihar area of Delhi, was arrested from Nakud
area of Saharanpur District. Inspector General of the Special
Task Force, Arun Kumar Gupta, Stated that one of the terrorists
involved in the Ayodhya attack, identified as Amin alias
Zuber, had visited Nakud, the native place of Dr Khan on March
20 to attend the wedding of his cousin. Dr Khan and Zuber then
visited Deoband. On their way back, the duo had stayed in Muzaffarnagar
with one Abdul Rehman, also of Nakud, who worked in Messay Ferguson
tractor company.

12 persons were killed and 52
others sustained injuries in an explosion in one of the bogies
of the Patna-Delhi Shramjeevi Express train near Harpalganj, 60
km from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. The blast occurred near the
toilet of the train's general compartment, two bogies from the
engine, at around 5.15 p.m (IST).

A plot suspected to have been
hatched by the Lashkar-e-Toiba to commit acts of sabotage in Kolkata
and other parts of India has been foiled with the arrest of Tariq
Akhtar of the outfit from Madan Street in Kolkata. Incriminating
documents, including Lashkar pamphlets, were seized from him.
Following Akhtar’s disclosure, Police arrested a LeT activist
Muhammed from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and seized more Lashkar
literature, 16 detonators and a laptop containing details of bomb
making from him. Subsequently, the Police arrested another activist,
Zubeid, from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Kolkata Police Commissioner
Prasun Mukherjee said "The trio, explosive experts and planning
to blow up a crowded place, may be linked to the Delhi blasts
or the Bangalore attack. Other members are spread throughout the
eastern region."
The Police arrested a youth, identified
as Kuer Singh Yadav, suspected to be working for the ISI from
Varanasi, and recovered vital documents related to the country’s
security on February 1. District Police chief, Navneet Sekera,
said that the Police had recovered maps of cantonments and documents
on Yadav’s links with anti-India elements in foreign countries.

At least 21 civilians were killed
and 62 others injured in three serial bomb explosions at a temple
and the railway station in Varanasi. The first blast occurred
inside the crowded Sankat Mochan temple at around 6.30 p.m. Minutes
later, another bomb exploded in the holding area of platform one
of the Cantonment railway station. The third blast occurred in
a crowded coach of the Shiv Ganga Express just before it was to
leave for New Delhi. An official said 10 persons died at the temple
and 11 at the railway station. Seven bombs were later defused,
including four that had been planted on the Gowdolia-Dasashwamedh
Ghat Road near the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
Hours after the blasts in Varanasi,
a suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist was shot dead in an encounter
with the Police in Gosaiganj area on the outskirts of the Lucknow
city. Police identified the terrorist as Salar alias Doctor
and did not rule out his involvement in the Varanasi blasts. RDX
and some detonators were recovered from the slain terrorist. Police
said Salar, a Pakistani, was involved in the conspiracy to carry
out a suicide attack at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun,
which was foiled by central security agencies.

information about Indian Army bases and infrastructure in Uttar
Pradesh, documents connected to India's planned purchase of T-90
tanks from Russia and Indian troop movements and counter-militancy

Six persons were injured in three
serial bomb blasts at Gorakhpur. The bombs exploded at five minutes
interval after 7 pm in and around the busy Golghar area of the
town. The first blast occurred at Baldev Plaza, followed by the
one near the Jalkal (Water Works) building in Golghar.
The third bomb went off near Park Hotel. The explosives were kept
in tiffin boxes attached to two cycles and a motorcycle.

The explosives were seized in the Shankergarh area from a jeep

vehicle, identified as Rajesh Patel, escape from the incident
site.

Uttar Pradesh Police arrested
two Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) terrorists along with seven
kilograms of RDX, six detonators, five watches including three
improvised watches equipped with timer wire, two batteries and
a switch remote. The duo was identified as Mohammed Yaqub, a resident
of Tarapur under Badhapur Police station of Bijnore District and
Nasir, a resident of Naumi village under Badhapur Police station
of Bijnore District. Both were reportedly trained in Pakistan.
Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police G. L. Sharma said the
duo wanted to carry out blasts at railway stations, bus stands
and religious structures in various parts of the country, including
Mumbai and Delhi.

Uttar Pradesh Police neutralized
a Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HUJI) module in Lucknow, with the
arrest of two top HUJI militants, identified as Naushad and Babubhai.
Babubhai, a native of West Bengal, is an 'area commander' of the
HUJI in India and a key person in the terrorist network linked
to the Inter-Services Intelligence, Pakistan's external intelligence
agency. Police recovered nine kilograms of RDX, one AK-47 and
foreign made pistols from them.

The Special Task Force (STF) of
Uttar Pradesh Police recovered two kilograms of RDX and two detonators
from an industrial area on the Lucknow-Kanpur road, under Kotwali
Police Station in the Unnao District. STF sources said that the
recovery was made following information provided by the arrested
Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) militant Noor Islam Mandal alias
Mama. The HuJI militant, a resident of Bansghat under Bagda Police
Station in West Bengal's 24 Paragana District, was arrested on
July 13 and had been brought to Lucknow on transit remand.

of the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) from Barabanki railway
station. The duo, identified as Khalid Mohammed and Tariq, alleged
to be involved in the recent serial blasts in the State, were
arrested along with 1.25-kg of RDX and some gelatin sticks.
Khalid, who hails from the Jaunpur
area of Uttar Pradesh, received training from HuJI militants in
Kashmir, while Tariq is a resident of Azamgarh District of the
State.

The Special Task Force personnel
of the Uttar Pradesh Police shot dead two suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba
(LeT) militants in an encounter on Dewa Road, 18 kilometers from
State capital Lucknow. The duo was traveling in a car and was
intercepted near the Central Food Technological Research Centre
on Dewa Road. Two AK-47 rifles, a huge quantity of AK-47 cartridges,
10 hand grenades, a fuse, a detonator and a suicide belt were
recovered from the car. Brij Lal, the Additional Director-General
of Police (Law and Order and STF), said that both the unidentified
terrorists were part of a Fidayeen (suicide squad) team
and had entered the State from Nepal. He further said that the
slain terrorists had planned a big terrorist attack in Lucknow.
A map with notings in Urdu was also recovered from them.

Seven Central Reserve Police Force
(CRPF) personnel and a civilian were killed in a pre-dawn terrorist
attack on the para-military CRPF Group Centre at Rampur. Three
more CRPF personnel, a civil Police personnel and a home guard
were injured in the attack. The Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary
J.N. Chamber said that the attack was carried out around 2.45
am (IST) by two suspected fidayeen (suicide squad) dressed
as CRPF constables. They breached the outer security, and started
firing indiscriminately from AK-47 rifles on the security post,
the guard room and the control room. The terrorists subsequently
escaped under cover of darkness.

Uttar Pradesh Police arrested
seven persons in the Etah District for allegedly running a fake
arms licence racket that could have helped Naxalites procure guns
from Uttar Pradesh. The District Senior Superintendent of Police
(SSP), S.K. Singh, said that arms had been purchased using the
fake licenses made by the arrested persons. Police also sealed
a gun dealers’ shop that allegedly sold firearms against fake
licences. The SSP said, "We have sealed one arms shop, the Raj
Gun House, from where at least 48 firearms were sold against fake
licences in the last three years. When we got in touch with the
CID of Bihar Police, we learnt that some of the weapons seized
from Naxalites there were bought from shops in Etah." "We suspect
some of these weapons, purchased using dubious gun licences, have
gone to the Naxalites", he added.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Uttar
Pradesh Police arrested an ISI agent identified as Mohammad Masroor
alias Manzoor Ansari and a Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen (JuM) terrorist,
Fayyaz Ahmed Mir from Bahraich and Ghaziabad. The arrested persons
belong to Karachi and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan. Masroor was living
in the Charbagh area in Lucknow under an assumed name of Ramesh
Chaudhary and was working in a showroom. Documents pertaining
to Indian Army, a photograph of Ordnance Factory, Kanpur, a map
of Cantonment area, tickets, pocket diary, mobile phone, driving
licence and ration card were seized from him. The JuM terrorist,
Fayyaz Ahmed, had entered India via Nepal on August 5, 2008 and
was in touch with the commander of the outfit, General Abdullah.
Interrogations revealed that he had been assigned the job of committing
a terrorist act along with some other Pakistani nationals.

Two persons were arrested for
alleged possession of 1100 detonators and 100 kilograms of commercial
explosive Ammonium Nitrate. Police officer L.R. Bhasker said,
"Jitendra Kumar alias Babloo and Amresh Patel were arrested
from the Ahrohra in Mirzapur District, about 300 km from Lucknow…
We cannot rule out the possibility of their involvement with Naxalites."

2,400 detonators were seized from
two civilians, identified as Ravikant Kumar and Shrawan Kumar
belonging to Rohtas District, at Mughalsarai railway station.
The detonators were manufactured by AP Explosive Private Limited,
Nalgonda in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana Explosive Private Limited.
Interrogation revealed that the two persons were carriers who
had been given the consignment by an unidentified person at Dehri
in Rohtas District.

The Rajasthan Police with the
assistance of the Anti-Terrorism Squad of the Uttar Pradesh Police
arrested Shahbaz Hussain, a resident of the Maulviganj area of
Lucknow, for his suspected involvement in the May 13 terrorist
attack in Jaipur. A. K. Jain, the Additional Director General
of Police (Crime) and chief of the Special Investigation Team
in Rajasthan said, "Shahbaz was a key player in planting the bombs
in Jaipur as he was instrumental in mobilising resources as well
as selecting the team, which executed the blasts." Police sources
said that 25-year old Shahbaz, a diploma holder in mass communications
and owner of a cyber cafe in Maulviganj, was a key aide of Sajid
Mansoori who reportedly masterminded the Jaipur blasts.

Simultaneous raids were conducted
by a 22-member Delhi Police team in the Kotwali Police station
area and Sarjanpur village in Azamgarh to arrest two Indian Mujahideen
militants, Shadab Bhai and Asadullah, alleged to have been involved
in the September 13 blasts in New Delhi. The raids were conducted
on the basis of evidence provided by Saqib, who was arrested at
Jamia Nagar in South Delhi on September 21 in connection with
the Uttar Pradesh blasts. Additional Director-General (Law and
Order and Special Task Force), Brij Lal, told the media that the
raids yielded nothing.

blast accused, identified as Dayanand Pandey alias Mahant
Amritanand, the chief of Sharda Sarvagya Peeth (monastery)
in Jammu, from Rawatpur village under Kalyanpur Police station

ISI was arrested by the Police from Meerut. He was identified
as Amir Ahmed alias Bhura of Nukkud in the Saharanpur District
of Uttar Pradesh. Hand-drawn maps of Army units in Dehradun and
Meerut, a four-page classified document containing detailed information
on anti-tank guided missile, an eight-page document on radio communication
brigaded mortar shoot and a four-page document containing restricted
information on infantry weapons and a mobile phone were recovered
from his possession. The Meerut Police said they had received
intelligence that some youth in western Uttar Pradesh had contacts
with the ISI. Amir had reportedly passed secret information about
Army bases in Dehradun, Ambala, Meerut, Agra and Roorkee, using
code words over phone. The Police also said Amir had been to Pakistan
five times using a fake passport.

Two suspected Pakistani terrorists
on their way from Ghaziabad to New Delhi were intercepted and
shot dead by a combined force of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police
and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) during a pre-dawn encounter
in Noida's sector 97. A constable of the UP ATS was also injured
in the encounter. "ATS was following a terrorist module for one
and half months. Yesterday, ATS received information that two
suspects with AK-47s have been seen in Lal Kuan, Ghaziabad on
their way to Delhi," said Brij Lall, Additional Director General
of UP Police. Police recovered two AK-47s, two hand grenades and
a bag from the vehicle in which two terrorists were traveling.
"Two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 120 live bullets, five hand
grenades, detonators, nine RDX shells, a Maruti 800 car, Pakistani
passports, some documents and Rs 18,000 were recovered from the
terrorists," Brij Lall added.

village in Azamgarh District, a senior officer said. The arrestee
identified as Shahzad alias Pappu was a cadre
of the Indian Mujahideen (IM) outfit and reportedly carried a
cash reward of INR 500000 on his head. Additional Director General
of Police (law and order) Brij Lal said that earlier a letter
was received from the Delhi Police stating that Pappu was wanted
in five cases related to the Delhi serial bomb blasts.
He also said that during investigation it was found that Pappu
was hiding in Azamgarh District and frequently shifting his locations.

Police arrested Hamiduddin alias Hamiruddin alias Salim,
who was wanted in connection with the serial bomb blasts on running
trains in different parts of the country in 1993, from Lucknow. Hamiduddin,
who carried a reward of INR 50,000 on his head, was arrested by
the Special Task Force (STF) after an encounter on the outskirts
of Lucknow, Additional Director-General (Law and Order, STF
and ATS) Brij Lal said. A .32 bore pistol, a hand
grenade and a fuse were recovered from Hamiduddin, who had
been absconding for the past 16 years. Hamiduddin was
reportedly among the 15 terrorists who were instrumental in planting
bombs aboard the Rajdhani Express, the Flying Queen
Express and the A.P. Express in December 1993.

The ATS of
the Uttar Pradesh Police (UPP) on arrested one Kanhaiya Lal Gupta
in Siddhart Nagar District bordering Nepal after INR 100, 000
of Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) was recovered from his possession,
reports Times of India. Initial investigations have revealed that
Gupta was actively working for the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence
(ISI) and looking after the FICN segment through UP-Nepal border
and had pumped in no less than INR10 million in FICN during the
last 5 years. Investigators quoting initial revelations said that
he has turned out to be the third important link in the FICN racket
involving some important criminals like Vinod Jaiswal of Bhairawan
Galla Mandi in Nepal and Yunus Ansari of Kathmandu the two topmost
identified controllers of FICN racket in Nepal. During interrogation,
Gupta revealed that he was a native of Gagaha village in Gorakhpur
and was presently residing near Barmail Toll in Bhairhwan locality
in Roopandehi District of Nepal. Though initially Gupta claimed
that the FICN seized from him was printed and supplied by local
gangs, but the ATS after screening the seized notes closely found
that the paper used and the quality of ink and printing was nothing
less than the factory printed currency being supplied by the ISI.
Gupta subsequently confessed to his link with the ISI based in
Nepal.

another wanted accused from Naka area of Lucknow in the case of
pilferage of ammunition from various Police weapon stores in Uttar
