sub-jails in south Odisha would be transferred to nearby jails

has asked the Maoists to work towards the release of Maoist leaders
and their supporters kept in different prisons.
Odisha Government has sought a
Special Assistance of over INR 20.26 million under the BRGF for
the LWE-affected Gajapati District.
In a move to gain control over
the rich bauxite mining zones of Niyamgiri area of Rayagada District

Two CPI-Maoist cadres, identified
as Deba Madkami and W. Padiami, were arrested from Janaguda area
under Kalimela Police Station limits of Malkangiri District during
a joint operation by local Police and BSF.
Ten CPI-Maoist cadres, including
three women, surrendered before Malkangiri District Police alleging
humiliation and torture by senior cadres.

BSF personnel unearthed a CPI-Maoist
dump very close to Tolamandiaguda village in Narayanapatna block
of Koraput District. The dump included a country-made pistol,
a large quantity of medicines, one black bag and a lot of revolutionary
literature in Telugu.

The Koraput District Sub-Divisional
Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) received a parcel through speed post,
which contained a CPI-Maoist letter written in Odia, two bullets
and a detonator. The letter accused SDJM Debasish Panda of harassing
people by rejecting their bail pleas. "Leave the place immediately
or you will be punished at the Praja Court," the hand-written
letter said.

Two civilians, including a woman,
were shot dead in cold blood by the CPI-Maoist cadres in cut-off
area of Balimela reservoir in Malkangiri District. Their bodies
were located in the jungle near Bailiguma village under Paparmetla
Police Station limits.
The dawn-to-dusk bandh call
given by the Maoists in Koraput and Malkangiri Districts in Odisha
had no impact. The bandh call had been given by the Srikakulam-Koraput
Divisional Committee (SKDC) of the CPI-Maoist.
A truck load of explosive chemical
being transported illegally from Andhra Pradesh was seized in
the Semiliguda Police Station area in Koraput District. The truck
was carrying 17,000 kg of ammonium nitrate.

CPI-Maoist cadres opened fire
and killed two Policemen at Sunabeda sanctuary area in Nuapada
District.

Odisha and Chhattisgarh Police
launched a joint search operation along the border after two Security
Force personnel were killed in an ambush by the CPI-Maoist cadres
in Nuapada District.

Seven security personnel and 21
CPI-Maoist cadres were killed in attacks and counterattacks in
seven Maoist-infested Districts by November 2013. As many as 87
Maoists surrendered during the period, chief minister Naveen Patnaik
told the assembly.

Police arrested three CPI-Maoist
cadres and seized three country-made guns from them during a combing
operation in Koraput District. The arrested Maoists were identified
as Ara Praska, Satya Nachka and Chuda Naik from Ranjitguda forest
under Laxmipur Police limits.
Another Maoist, identified as
Era Padiami alias Mukesh was arrested in Malkangiri District.
Era's father Waga Padiami alias Ramesh holds a 'deputy
commander' rank in the Kalimela Dalam (squad) of the CPI-Maoist.
Rayagada District administration
recommended the Government to cancel VISA of foreign tourists
who had violated Government restrictions to visit tribal villages
in Maoist prone area of the District.

A CPI-Maoist cadre was suspected
to be killed and another injured during an exchange of fire with
Security Forces (SFs) in Kalimela Police Station area of Malkangiri
District. The SFs personnel were part of a joint operation to
rescue three persons from Gomphakunda village abducted by Maoists
on December 4.

Two CPI-Maoist cadres involved
in several murders were arrested from Narayanpatna block in Koraput
District. The two arrested Maoists were Nabin Praska and Sana
Wateka. They were members of Narayanpatna area committee of SKDC
of AOBSZC of the CPI-Maoist. The arrest came a day after Maoist
mayhem at Kumbhariput village in Bandhugaon block in the night
of December 7.

A private passenger bus was set
ablaze by suspected Maoist supporters in Malkangiri District.
But no passenger or bus crew was harmed. The incident occurred
at around noon near Telarai square on Motu-Kalimela road. The
ill-fated bus was on its way to Kalimela from Motu.

The CPI-Maoist cadres are alleged
to have abducted six civilians including a Panchayat ward
member, Tulsi Behera, in Kalimela Police Station area in Malkangiri
District of Odisha.

the CPI-Maoist cadres who have been pushed to the brink in Malkangiri
District because of resolute actions by the Police and other Security
Forces are targeting ordinary people to give vent to their sense
of frustration and to terrorise people into submission.
Two supporters of OMP, a splinter
group of the CPI-Maoist, allegedly acting as couriers, were arrested
from a jungle in Ganjam District.

In an audio tape released Malkangiri
Divisional Committee Secretary of the Maoists, Punam Chandar,
stated that the three persons recently killed in Malkangiri District
were acting as Police informers and hence were eliminated by them.

Over 15 Maoists detained a Government
bus at Telrai in Malkangiri District where they had set ablaze
a private bus on December 11. Maoists stopped the bus to check
whether security personnel were travelling in the vehicle. They
checked the luggage of passengers for over 20 minutes.

in Malkangiri District, the CPI-Maoist has termed the violence
as an act of retaliation to the September 14 Silakota encounter
in which 13 Maoists were killed. .

shutdown protesting "fake" encounter killings and the Centre's
decision to intensify Operation Green Hunt.
