The NTSZC of CPI-Maoist has given a call for bandh in Telangana Region expressing apprehensions over the death of Telangana Praja Front president Akula Bhoomaiah in a road accident in the city a few days ago.

January 8

CPI-Maoist suffered a major blow when the secretary of the DKSZC Gumudavelli Venkatakrishna Prasad alias Gudsa Usendi, who was considered a member of the party's top think tank, surrendered before the Police. Prasad and his wife Raji gave themselves up reportedly on health grounds to the anti-Maoist SIB of the Andhra Pradesh Police.

January 10

Senior CPI-Maoist leader GVK Prasad alias Gudsa Usendi surrendered before Andhra Pradesh Police after taking due permission from CPI-Maoist chief Ganapathy and was allowed to go unharmed in view of his seniority and loyalty to the party.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde welcomed the surrender of Gudsa Usendi, a top CPI-Maoist leader, saying other Maoist leaders should also follow his example.

Twenty one militia members of the CPI-Maoist, including a woman, surrendered before the Vishakhapatnam District, SP Vikram Jeet Duggal following the arrest of five militia 'commanders' from the Agency area during a combine operation.

Duggal admitted that migration from Chhattisgarh was on the rise. We are verifying as to why the tribal people were migrating. At present, the situation "is not alarming". He expressed the view that the protests by tribal people seeking closure of 'police outposts' was 'not correct'. It was the duty of the Police to protect the people.

Kovasi Satyam alias Jagadeesh (25), a member of CPI-Maoist Sabari Area Committee, surrendered before Bhadrachalam ASP N Prakash Reddy in the Khammam town of Khammam District.

Eighteen militia members of the CPI-Maoist, who were involved in the blasting of coffee pulping units of the Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation at Chapagedda in GK Veedhi mandal in Vishakhapatnam District on January 28, surrendered to Superintendent of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal in Vishakhapatnam.

A Kommu Koya (tribal) dance troupe organiser Patra Mutyam (55), an activist of the CPI-Marxist, was allegedly shot dead by suspected cadres of CPI-Maoist at the remote Tummala village in Chintur mandal of Khammam District.

A bunch of wall-posters, written in the name of CPI-Maoist Venkatapuram 'area committee', surfaced near Suraveedu and Vijayapuri colony in Venkatapuram mandal of Khammam District.

In a major anti-CPI-Maoist operation conducted along the Andhra-Chhattisgarh border in Khammam District, the CRPF arrested six suspected Maoists and seized over 1,000 booby traps and shrapnel aimed to ambush SFs.

April 9

Suspected cadres of the CPI-Maoist set ablaze a mobile phone tower of a private telecom company at Gannavaram village in Bhadrachalam mandal in Khammam District.

The Police arrested seven persons, including an active cadre of the CPI-Maoist in Chintapalli mandal in Visakhapatnam District. The Maoist cadre has been identified as Gabilingi Appa Rao, head of the panchayat committee of the CPI-Maoist of Balapam village in Chintapalli mandal.

April 20

A special Police team arrested a CPI-Maoist squad member, an armed militia member, and three militia members in two separate incidents in Visakhapatnam District.

April 22

Suspected CPI-Maoist cadres killed a 30-year-old tribal man, identified as Nupa Shiva, at Angarigudem, a tribal settlement under Karakagudem Police Station limits in Pinapaka mandal of Khammam District.

April 26

An exchange of fire took place between the Police and the CPI-Maoist cadres near Chintaguppa village in Dummugudem mandal in Khammam District.

Chintur Police of Andhra Pradesh arrested four Maoist militia members, including two militia 'commanders', in the forest area near Bandirevu village, Mr Reddy said. Maoist posters were recovered from their possession.

April 29

IG of Police, South-West Range, Yashwant Jethwa, clarified that the woman cadre of CPI-Maoist, Tulsi Madangi had surrendered before the Police and not arrested as claimed by the BSF on April 28.

Marri Dasu, a CPI-Maoist 'militia' from Annavaram area of Garimanda village under Boodaralla area surrendered before ASP Vishal Gunni at Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam District.

May 5

Two CPI-Maoist action team members along with two dalam members and six members of local militia were arrested by the District Police from a place between Pedabayulu and Paderu in Visakhapatnam District and thwarted their plan to disrupt the elections to be held on May 7.

Addressing a press conference Andhra Pradesh DGP B. Prasada Rao said a close watch was being maintained on Maoists as the Maoists had called upon people to boycott polls.

A group of persons, suspected to be CPI-Maoist militia, set ablaze two EVMs and partially burnt a vehicle allotted for the polling staff at Palakajeedi village polling station in Koyyuru mandal in Visakhapatnam District. Around 20 to 30 people raided the polling station around 2 pm and took away the EVMs and set them on fire and also set on fire the Route Officer's vehicle.

Bellampally sub-division Police unearthed an old CPI-Maoist dump from the forest near Venkatapur village under Devapur Police Station limits in Kasipet mandal in Adilabad District.

The Nalgonda Police stumbled upon a CPI-Maoist dump kept in a cave located on a hill near Guntala Tanda tribal hamlet in Chandampet mandal of Nalgonda District.

The Visakha Rural Police arrested three CPI-Maoist cadres, including a woman, at D Chintala Veedhi and Kamayyapeta in Hukumpeta mandal of Visakha Agency (Visakhapatnam District) and seized a country-made pistol, even as two others, Killo Narasinga Rao and Killy Sanyasayya alias Sagar of Chadurumamidi village surrendered before them.

Following specific information about the suspected movement of CPI-Maoist in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh State along the borders of Karimnagar District, the Police launched surprise combing operations in the forest areas of the mandals that fall under Manthani Tehsil.

Visakhapatnam Rural Police in an anti-CPI-Maoist operation reportedly arrested Korra Sitanna, a Maoist of Galikonda Area Committee near GK Veedhi in the Agency area of Visakhapatnam District.

Police tied banners showing photos of most wanted terrorists of various banned outfits and Naxalites with their names at different places at the venue of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's swearing-in function, a ground opposite Nagarjuna Nagar in Guntur District.

Three CPI-Maoist cadres, including Jana Babu Rao alias Ashok (48), district 'central committee member' of Nallamalla range, Bharathi (38), wife of Ashok and Vimalakka (35), were killed in an encounter with a Police party in Nallamalla forest range at Kallagunta village in Yerragondabalem mandal of Prakasam District near Guntur District border.

The Andhra Pradesh Government has sent proposals to the UMHA seeking INR 12 billion for developing a full-fledged 'Greyhounds', sophisticated anti-Naxal force, training centre on the lines of the existing one at Premavathipet on Hyderabad's outskirts.

Five CPI-Maoist dalam members surrendered before Visakhapatnam Rural SP, Vikram Jeet Duggal, on the premises of the Narsipatnam OSD office in Andhra Pradesh.

Secretary of the CPI-Maoist AOBSZC Chandramouli termed the death of three Maoist cadres in an exchange of fire with Police in Nallamalla forests of Guntur District on June 21, 2014 as a fake encounter.

A mandal coordinator and village resource person, engaged in collection of data for NREGA, and sarpanch, of Matham Bheemavaram village were allegedly detained by the cadres of the Galikonda 'area committee' of the CPI-Maoist at Jyothulamamidi on the outskirts of M. Bheemavaram in Koyyuru mandal in Visakhapatanam District. The Maoists let off the three unharmed but took away a laptop, two biometric machines and a web camera from the NREGA staff.

July 17

A woman CPI-Maoist cadre, identified as Vanthala Jhansi alias Kusai (22), carrying INR. 100,000 reward on her head, surrendered before SP Vikram Jeet Duggal in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh.

July 27

The cadres of Korukonda Area Committee of the CPI-Maoist blew up the pipelines of Essar Company in Chintapalli mandal in Visakhapatnam District.

July 29

A CPI-Maoist cadre, identified as Mari Arjun (39), surrendered before Narsipatnam Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Vishal Gunni, in Visakhapatnam District.

August 12

CPI-Maoist influence in the Agency areas of Visakhapatnam District is not as weak as it is thought to be and things are not that rosy and they have considerable presence in the two areas of Galikonda and Korukonda, says SP Koya Praveen.

August 21

Andhra Pradesh State Government under the State Public Security Act, 1992 has extended ban on CPI-Maoist and seven CPI-Maoist backed organisations for one more year. The organisations are: CPI-Maoist, RDF, RYL, RCS, RSU, SIKASA, VIKASA and AIRSF.

A group of around 10 armed CPI-Maoist cadres reportedly killed a villager, identified as B. Balakrishna (35) in Killamkota village in G. Madugula mandal (administrative unit) in Visakhapatnam District.

August 22

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, during a discussion in the State Assembly, has said there are 83 underground Maoist cadres from Andhra Pradesh of whom about 61 are operating in the State while the remaining operate from Chhattisgarh and other States.

August 23

The cadres of the CPI-Maoist reportedly organised a meeting at Garikabanda village, bordering G. K. Veedhi and Koyyuru mandal in Visakhapatnam District.

September 9

A militia member of the CPI-Maoist, identified as Muvvala Ranju, surrendered before the OSD Vishal Gunni at Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh.

September 13

Suspecting Muvvala Ramesh, a former CPI-Maoist cadre, as 'Police informer', Maoists killed him in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. The body of Ramesh was found at Jangalathota in Y. Ramavaram mandal in the District bordering Visakhapatnam District. Ramesh was a dalam 'commander' between 2003 and 2004 and surrendered to the East Godavari Police in 2005.

September 14

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N. Chinarajappa said, "There is no Maoist activity whatsoever in the State (Andhra Pradesh)". "The Police machinery is fully on alert to prevent any attempts by extremists to revive their activities in the State," he told reporters in Ongole in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh. "Extremists are making a frantic bid for existence," he remarked while referring to Maoists killing a former extremist branding him as a 'Police informer' on the East Godavari-Visakhapatnam border on September 13.

September 18

'Red alert' has been declared in Andhra Pradesh, as the CPI-Maoist is gearing up to go 'all out to' celebrate the party's 10thanniversary in the AOB area in a big way from September 21.

The CPI-Maoist has conducted its third public meeting, in the past one month, with the tribals of Visakha Agency in Andhra Pradesh and threatened the government with an armed struggle if it did not withdraw its plans to mine bauxite reserves. Nearly 400 to 500 people from 20 villages attended the meeting. Sources said that though nearly 60 to 70 Maoists were present in the area during the meeting, only 15 to 20 armed cadres were visible at the venue close to the Odisha border. The nearly two and half hour meeting was addressed by a senior leader of the Galikonda 'area committee', who accused Andhra Pradesh CM of trying to benefit MNCs through bauxite mining.

October 19

'A group of irate tribals lynched three CPI-Maoist cadres, after the Maoists killed one of their fellow villagers, Gemmeli Sanjeeva Rao, at Veeravaram village in Chintapalli mandal of Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh. The dead Maoists were identified as 'district committee member' Sindri China Ranga Rao alias Sarat, Palasa Gangapati and Korra Nageswara Rao, both members of Maoist militia squad. A group of 30 to 40 Maoists came to Veeravaram village to kill Sanjeeva Rao, a former Maoist and his friend Satyanarayana alias Simhachalam. Maoists suspected them of being 'Police informers'. A group of 10 Maoists caught hold of Sanjeeva Rao and Simhachalam when they were returning to Boddalaveedhi and killed Rao incurring the wrath of the villagers. The villagers attacked the Maoists killing three of them on the spot.

October 20

'Three CPI-Maoist cadres, identified as Dhaniram Gond (22), Mangal Salaam (26) and Kumarsingh Korram (28), surrendered in Kondagaon District of Chhattisgarh. "The cadres surrendered before senior police officials citing high-handedness of senior cadres, particularly those from Andhra Pradesh as well as sexual exploitation of women and girls by them," Kondagaon ASP Surjit Atri said.

October 27

A CPI-Maoist 'militia' member, carrying a reward of INR 100,000 on his head, was arrested from Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh. "Keesava Rao alias Balabadrudu was arrested by G.K. Veedi Police," said Vishal Gunni, OSD, Narsipatnam.

October 29

A group of 20-30 tribals staged protests outside APCLC Visakha unit President T Srirammurthy's house at Gajuwaka, as well as APCLC members G Raghuram's house at Mangapuram Colony near Kalabharathi Auditorium and A Annapoorna's house at Arilova in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh protesting the alleged support to Maoists by civil rights activists. The tribals belonged to Veeravaram village and other parts of GK Veedhi mandal of Visakhapatnam District.

October 30

Bandh in Visakha Agency of Andhra Pradesh area, for which the CPI-Maoist had given a call in protest against the killing of three of its cadres near Korukonda in Vishakhapatnam District on October 19, was partial except in a few panchayats.

November 3

Two CPI-Maoist cadres, identified as Pangi Sathi Babu and Korra Venkat Rao of Galikonda dalam of the CPI-Maoist, surrendered before ASP Vijaya Rao in Rampachodavaram mandal in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. The surrendered duos were natives of Yendakota village under Koyyuru mandal in Visakhapatnam District. They were involved in the killing of a dalam 'commander' of the same group a couple of months ago at Gangala Thota area in Yendakota mandal, the ASP added.

The Korukonda area committee of the CPI-Maoist organised a meeting on the AOB, to 'pay homage' to two of its members who were killed by people near Korukonda shandy on October 19. According to reports, secretary of Korukonda area committee Vijayalakshmi, who addressed the meeting with other leaders of the party, claimed that the killing was the handiwork of the Police and the party would not spare the 19 persons it had identified for the attack and killing of its members. More than 2,000 people had reportedly attended the meeting which was held on the border abutting Munchingput mandal in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh. The SATP, has earlier, reported that three Maoists were killed in the incident.

November 6

The Visakha Rural Police of Andhra Pradesh arrested four people, including an Associate Professor of Andhra University's Telugu Department, for allegedly supplying explosive material to CPI-Maoist. The arrested were identified as Associate Professor Jarra Appa Rao (44), Ganapatiraju Subba Raju, Varupari Prasad and Kovvuru Jagadesh. The Police seized 300 kg of ammonium nitrate (packed in six bags), 500 EDs, 100 empty EDs and a car from the possession of two of those arrested.

November 8

47 CPI-Maoist sympathisers have surrendered before Andhra Pradesh Police at Rampachodavaram in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. All of them fall in the age bracket of 30-50 years, said ASP, Vijaya Rama Rao. The Officer added that all Maoist sympathisers were active in the District between 2005 and 2008.

November 13

The East Godavari District Police of Andhra Pradesh arrested 13 members of the CPI-Maoist 'militia', including two accused in the murder case of Muvvala Satish, a surrendered Maoist. The Police also recovered a dump consisting of landmine, detonators, rifle rounds and rod pieces near Donkarayi mandal. Speaking to the media at Kakinada, SP M. Ravi Prakash told that there was a spurt in the movement of Maoists in East Godavari and Visakhapatnam Districts following the bifurcation of the State.

November 19

Over five dozen tribal people, hailing from Visakhapatnam District in Andhra Pradesh, holding placards landed at the residence of social activist and revolutionary poet Vara Vara Rao near Ashok Nagar, and shouted slogans requesting him to save their lives from attacks from the CPI-Maoist. Rao, however, was not at his residence.

November 27

Ahead of the PLGA week commencing on December 2, the CPI-Maoist held a meeting on the border with Odisha in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh, to pay homage to its District committee member Sharath and militia member P. Ganapathi who were killed in an attack by the people near Korukonda shandy on October 19 and repeated its warning that it would not spare Simhachalam who escaped from the Maoist attack and 19 villagers who attacked the party men at the behest of the Police. Charging SP Koya Praveen with implementing a Salwa Judum type operation in the Agency, he said he would meet the fate met by Salwa Judum leader Mahendra Karma. Kailasam demanded withdrawal of proposal for creation of village protection force.

November 28

SP Koya Praveen, Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh, strongly contested the CPI-Maoist allegation that the Police was mobilising the Girijans in the interior parts of the Agency area for a Salwa Judum type of operation against the Maoists. Addressing media in Visakhapatnam, he said that the news reports published in various dailies, were based on a press communication released by the Maoists and it was unfounded.

December 5

The Andhra Pradesh State Government has reconstituted a high-powered Cabinet Sub-committee for taking top level decisions relating to Naxalite-problems in the State.

The Andhra Pradesh Police Department is desperately looking for foot soldiers and has submitted a proposal to recruit 8,000 Constables, State DGP JV Ramudu said.

Thirteen tribal people of Pega village in Chintur mandal in East Godavari District were feared abducted by the CPI-Maoist cadres of the Andhra-Orissa Border committee.

Over half a dozen tribal people, who were reportedly abducted by suspected cadres of the CPI-Maoist from Pega village in Chintur mandal in East Godavari District in the night of December 27, returned home much to the relief of their anxious family members.
