Locals caught two KPLT militants
at Pubsilputa village under Bakaliaghat Police Station in Karbi
Anglong District. According to information, two KPLT cadres
were on a bid to extortion drive and reached at SGB Jagnarayan
Singh house for extorting money from him. In the mean time the
villagers got the information and caught them and handed over
them to Bakaliaghat Police. The arrested KPLT cadres have been
identified as Rabindra Tokbi (23) and Jiten Phangcho (24).

The State Government decided to withhold counter
insurgency operations by the SFs against the KPLT till April 20
this year (2017). The KPLT declared unilateral ceasefire for a
period of six months with effect from October 20, 2016 till April
20, 2017, which they communicated through a letter signed by the
militant group's 'general secretary' Vojaru Hanjang. The militant
group also expressed its desire to come to the mainstream in the
interest of restoring peace and development in Karbi Anglong Districts.
The State Government decided to withhold operations against KPLT
as a 'good gesture' to the militant group's peace initiative.

DGP of Assam, Mukesh Sahay, said that the peace
talk with KPLT militant would be started soon. Earlier on January
30, the Assam Government announced to withhold counter-insurgency
operations against KPLT till April 20. This followed the declaration
of a six-month unilateral ceasefire from October 20, 2016, by
the KPLT.

AR along with Police launched a search operation
at Bus Station in Dimapur and arrested one cadre of KPLT, identified
as Mukhim Rongti (28) in Dimapur District. One air gun pistol
(country made) and air gun pen pistol (country made) were also
recovered from the arrested militant.
