Suicide attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, 2010

January 6-7, 2010

Suicide attack by LeT militants at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on January 6. The target was a CRPF camp but militants took refuge in Punjab hotel across the road when retaliated by SFs. Both the holed up militants were killed in a 22- hour gun battle. A Policeman and a civilian were also killed and at least 12 persons including three CRPF personnel and a photo-journalist were injured in the incident. While one terrorist was identified as Qari, a Pakistani national, the other one was named as Usman from Sopore.

January 14, 2010

A teenaged Pakistani militant, identified as Noman Arshad (14), suspected to be a suicide bomber, was arrested by the BSF near the India-Pakistan border. During interrogation, he said there were plans for a seven-member suicide squad including three women to cross over soon and create trouble.
