Manipur

AR in coordination with Police forces of Manipur killed three militants, arrested 40 UG cadres and three OGW and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition in last 45 days in the state, an AR release said. During the counter insurgency operation, from August 1 to September 15 last, three cadre of PLA were killed, the AR release said. Seven cadres of UNLF, seven cadres of NSCN-K, five cadres of PREPAK-Pro, six cadres of PREPAK, four cadres of PLA, eight cadres of KYKL, one cadre of ZUF, one cadre of KCP, one cadre of Vice-Chairman faction of PREPAK (PREPAK-VC) and three 'overground' cadres of UNLF, PREPAK and KYKL each were arrested, the release added. The release further said arms and ammunition including one AK-47 rifle, two 7.62 mm A-1 Rifle, one 9 mm carbine machine gun, four 9 mm pistol, one lathod gun with three lathod shells, one country made 12 bore single barrel rifle, 8 IEDs, two Chinese hand grenades and other assorted ammunition were recovered.

Conveying deepest regards to all the countrymen, revolutionary leaders/cadres and all those people who have been killed in the course of the revolutionary movement on the occasion of the Red Army's 39th raising day, the outfit's chairman L Paliba M asserted that Kangleipak (Manipur) is the 'promised land' for all the indigenous ethnic groups of the land. To protect the 'promised land' is the responsibility of all the indigenous people. All ethnic based movements should be tackled collectively with the collective history of the land. It's time for all the scholars and intellectuals to come forward and show the right path to all those people pursuing narrow, parochial agenda. A statement issued by the Chairman questioned whether the ethnicity based movements can withstand the Government of India's assimilation policy and migration war. He also questioned whether ethno- exclusive aspirations are feasible given the geographical position of the land. Only the correct interpretation of history and a common vision can bring about lasting peace, the Chairman asserted.

One Honda Activa scooter bearing registration number MN 01Q/5284 and other incriminating articles were recovered from his possession. Investigation revealed that he came to the bazar to extort money from businessmen and shopkeepers for celebration of his party's raising day on October 9.

The arrestee identified as Asem Sarat Singh (50) of Thoubal Awang Leikai, revealed that he has been extorting money from schools, colleges and brick kilns in Thoubal District under the instruction of one Malem, who was presently residing in Myanmar, said a press release issued by PRO, headquarters of IGAR-S.

Based on a specific intelligence input regarding movement of a UG cadre, troops of 22 AR of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of headquarters of IGAR-S along with Thoubal District Police commandos established a joint vehicle check post at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai and arrested an active cadre of PREPAK-Pro, identified as Angom Ibotombi Singh (26) of Kakching Khunou in the District. Angom has been handed over to Waikhong Police Station.

The PREPAK-Pro has claimed that Nameirakpam Sanjit alias Abung alias Ningthiba (Batch/AR No 39899) of Pukhao Naharup Awang was awarded capital punishment by the outfit. A press release issued by the outfit's assistant publicity secretary Eshingchaoba informed that N Sanjit fled away together with a weapon issued to him after shooting dead a woman cadre of the outfit on March 19 this year.

A team of Imphal East District Police commando arrested one active cadre of PREPAK while conducting frisking and checking in Ahallup area. The arrested individual has been identified as Maibam Abung Singh alias Khoimei (36) of Soibam Leikai Khalabung Leirak. Investigation revealed that he was involved in transportation of arms and explosive from different places and also extorted money from general public, private firms, contractors, Government offices etc for raising party fund. Incriminating articles were seized from his possession.

A team of Imphal East District Police commando arrested one active member of PREPAK-Pro while conducting search operation. The statement said that the cadre, identified as Joysangkar alias Loyumba alias Khoungang (28), was arrested from his residence located at Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai.

Santipur Leikai / Thoubal District

Troops of 22 AR under the aegis of IGAR-S arrested one over ground worker of PREPAK-Pro from Wangoo Warukok Santipur Leikai in Thoubal District. The arrested cadre has been identified as Athokpam Anand of Wangoo Warukok Santipur Leikai, Thoubal District. He has been handed over to Sugnu Police Station in the District.
