A human rights activist, Civil Progressive Alliance Pakistan (CPAP) president Samar Abbas (40) has gone missing from the federal capital Islamabad. Mr. Abbas is an activist based in Karachi who belongs to various forums that have been raising their voice voicing against atrocities committed against minority groups in the country.

The Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), along with the CTD of Police and intelligence agencies, arrested seven suspects from the Mandi Bahauddin and Nilore areas of Islamabad.

A flag similar to that of the militant IS was seen waving in Khana area of Islamabad, the Federal Capital, in morning, before being removed by the local Police after a citizen reported the matter. Police removed the flag, hoisted on a pole by an unidentified person, in the afternoon after one Naveed Ahmed Khan - a resident of Dera Ismail Khan - informed Rescue 15 of the matter.

Punjab Rangers with Police and Intelligence Agencies conducted operations, patrolling and snap checking in Dera Ghazi Khan, Attock, Islamabad and Lahore. Sixteen militants, facilitators and smugglers were arrested; also a number of weapons and explosives were recovered from them.

Two people including one IB personnel were killed, while three others were injured, in gunfire outside a Shia Imambargah in Sector I/8. The deceased IB official has been identified as Hubdar Hussain.

Former Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz sought action against online blasphemy. Maulana Aziz said that he had also petitioned the Islamabad High Court against the issue but the concerned did nothing. "The Government is helpless. They would have sprung into action if such outrageous caricatures had been made of the Prime Minister, the Army Chief or the Chief Justice," he said. He criticised the content in the mainstream and social media and sought strict monitoring and guidelines for them. "[After seeing all this on the media] our blood boils and we want to go out and turn this system upside down," he said addressing the media in a library named after the killed Al Qaeda 'leader' Osama bin Laden.

COAS Qamar Jawed Bajwa defended the brokering of the deal between the Government and the organisers of the 22-day sit-in at Faizabad interchange in Islamabad, the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah, during the national security briefing. Senator Nihal Hashmi after the meeting quoted him saying that "he will resign if the army's involvement is proved in Faizabad protests". The Army Chief reportedly said that the Police operation had worsened the Faizabad protests and "Had the army taken any action against the participants of the sit-in, the situation would have worsened".

Pakistan's stance on the Kashmir issue was incorporated in the joint 'Islamabad Declaration' at the first-ever Speakers' Conference held in Islamabad. The Conference included Pakistan, China, Turkey, Russia, Iran, and Afghanistan. The 19th serial number in the 29 point declaration stated "We agreed that for ensuring global and regional peace and stability, the issue of Jammu & Kashmir needs peaceful resolution by Pakistan and India in accordance with UNSC resolutions". Speaker National Assembly (NA) Ayaz Sadiq representing Pakistan in the Speakers Conference held in Islamabad mentioned that Pakistan had suffered losses of over 119 billion dollars to its economy because of militancy.
