DC's residence attacked with petrol bombs in Manipur

Unidentified assailants hurled nine petrol bombs at the resident of Tamenglong Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Luikham in Tamenglong District on January 10, reports The Assam Tribune. Out of nine, five bomb exploded, but no injuries were reported. According to the report, the guards at the residence of M Luikham opened several rounds of fire in the air to ward off the attackers. The identity of the attackers is not yet confirmed, as no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Meanwhile, unidentified assailants allegedly attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist, Mohammad Rajauddinís residence at Mayang Imphal Bengoon in Imphal West District by firing numerous rounds, on January 10, reports The Sangai Express. According to the report, a group of unidentified assailants travelling inside a four wheeler vehicle allegedly attacked the resident. No injuries were reported, and identity of the assailants was also unknown so far.†

In another incident, after the arrest of the militant of Lamyanba Khuman faction of Kangleipak Communist Party -Military Council (KCP-MC) on January 8 by Manipur Police, who suspected to be involved in planting a hand grenade at the office of Pandam, an evening daily on December 26, 2016, a spokesperson of Assam Rifles (AR) claimed that Coordination Committee (CorCom), an apex body of six outfits of Manipur responsible for the threatening of the local editors, reports The Assam Tribune on January 10.
