On
January 24, two Communist Party of India-Maoist
(CPI-Maoist)
cadres, K. Subba Rao and S Nagamani, surrendered
before the Superintendent of Police, V. V.
Srinivasa Rao, in Visakhapatnam. Subba Rao
was ‘commander’ of the Galikonda special guerrilla
squad while Nagamani was his deputy. Both
cited poor health as reasons for the surrender.
Separately,
a 16-year old Maoist, Athram Chandansha alias
Naresh, surrendered before the Adilabad district
police on January 24. Superintendent of Police,
Kripanand Tripathi Ujela, said that Naresh
had been in the outfit for the last one and
half years with the Mangi and Indervelli local
guerilla squads.
