One militant killed in encounter in Assam

Chirang district police busted an IK Songbijit faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-IKS) on December 4, reports The Sentinel . Chirang Superintendent of Police, said that on the basis of secret information about the movement of militants under the command of Batha in Ballambari Bagan Forest area near Indo-Bhutan border located at about 35 km north-west from Runikhata Police Station, a search operation was launched by Chirang Police. On sighting the police party, the militants opened fire. The police party also opened retaliatory fire, as a result of which one unidentified suspected militant sustained bullet injuries. He was shifted to hospital for treatment where he was declared as brought dead. Police later recovered one 9 mm pistol, one magazine, 5 rounds 9 mm live ammunition, s, camp materials, ration items, utensils, clothes, wearing apparels, and medicines.†
