Four ATTF militants surrender in Tripura

Altogether four All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) militants surrendered before the Tripura Police in different locations, reports UNI. Three militants, identified as Adhin Debbarma (26), Bipul Debbarma (22) and Soumendra Debbarma (25) of Khowai sub-division in West District, surrendered on February 5. On the other hand a frontline ATTF militant, identified as Nayanjoy Tripura (26) of Raishyabari, surrendered at Gandacherra Police Station on February 7.

Separately, two persons, on suspicion of being involved in the killing of a Mizo youth on November 13, 2009, at Bungthuam village in Mizoram, were arrested by Tripura Police at Khakchangpara relief camp in North District on February 7, reports Sentinel. They were, identified as Chibu Mohan (24) and Laldawngliana, Vice-President of the Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum.

Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the Conference of Chief Ministers on Internal Security in New Delhi on February 7 alleged that insurgent camps continued to remain intact in neighbouring Bangladesh and needed to be demolished. "Insurgent infrastructure continued to be intact in Bangladesh and insurgents and their leaders having permanent bases there have not been nabbed despite red corner notices against them," said Sarkar.
