The death toll of Communist Party of India- Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres rose to six in Chhattisgarh encounter on March 18, with the recovery of one more body of the Maoist from the area of encounter, reports The New Indian Express on March 19. Earlier, South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) had reported, at least five Maoists including a senior woman cadre and two Policemen were killed while three Security Forces (SFs) personnel, including two Sub-Inspectors (SIs) were injured in a gun-battle in forests of restive Dantewada District in Bastar Division.

Meanwhile, CPI-Maoist cadres released a press statement carrying an image of assembled modern weapons they looted from the dead Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on March 19, reports The New Indian Express. The picture along with the statement released by the South Bastar Divisional Committee of CPI-Maoist showed four AK-47 assault rifles, six INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifles, one Light Machine Gun (LMG), one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) two wireless sets and over 1130 bullet cartridges taken away by the rebels. The Maoists praised their cadres of People’s liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) the armed wing of the banned organisation that "carried out" the attack on a road opening party, killing twelve CRPF jawans in Sukma on March 11.

Simultaneously, SFs recovered a powerful, nearly eight Kilograms, Improvised Explosive Device (IED), suspected to be planted by CPI-Maoist cadres to harm a patrolling team, in Kanker District on  March 19, reports The IED was later destroyed with the help of a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
