Nine militants arrested from different places

Police arrested six militants from different places on March 19, reports The Daily Star. In Patuakhali District's Kalapara area, four suspected Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) cadres were arrested while planning sabotage activities. They were identified as Milon Sikder (28), Kamal Hossain (30), Babul Khan (45) and Pappu (28). In Lalmonirhat District's Kaliganj area, Police arrested a leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) who is wanted in a sabotage case. He was identified as Hasanul Haque Banna (28), president of the Hatibandha unit of ICS. In Sylhet District's Khasdabir area, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested cadre of Hizb-ut-Tahrir at his residence. The arrestee is Ashraful Karim Khan (28). RAB recovered a huge number of leaflets containing anti-state statements from him.

Meanwhile, Police arrested three activists of JeI along with arms and explosives from a house at Baluchar village in Chapainawabganj District on March 18, reports The Independent. The arrestees are Shariful Islam (52), Ashraful Alam (50) and Taiyubur Rahman (50). Police also recovered two pistols, six rounds of bullets, two magazines, 1.5 kg gunpowder and some Jihadi books from the spot.

Separately, Chittagong District Police on March 18 recovered a large number of explosives from the extremist hideout at Sitakunda where five people, including a child, were killed on March 16, reports New Age. Police recovered the explosives, including 15 bombs and grenades, six drums of liquid hydrogen peroxide and jells, from the hideouts at Premtala area under Sitakunda.
