Militant killed in Assam

IBN Live reports that Security Forces (SFs) in an encounter killed a militant of the Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) and injured two others in an area under Bokolia Police Station in Karbi Anglong District on March 30. SFs also arrested three KPLT militants after the encounter along with two AK-56 automatic rifles, one .76 revolver and some extortion notes.

Meanwhile, suspected militants of Anti-Talks faction of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-ATF) hurled a grenade targeting the convoy of vehicles carrying Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at Dudhnoi in Goalpara District, reports Times of Assam. However, no casualty was reported.

Further, SFs recovered an unexploded grenade from the premises of Mathuranagar Police Station in Sivasagar District, reports The Times of India. The Telegraph adds that suspected ULFA-ATF militants had hurled the grenade on March 29.

Separately, SFs arrested two arms carrier from Sonapur area in Guwahati city. SFs identified the duo as Shwmdwn Daimary of Chirang District and Shubash Rai. SFs recovered two German Heckler and Koch rifles and a large amount of ammunition from the duo's possession. The Police believe that arms and ammunition were for Meghalaya based Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants.
