Union Home Ministry raises concern over mounting casualties of Security Forces (SFs) in Naxal violence

Hindustan Times reports that raising concern over mounting casualties of Security Forces (SFs) in the Naxal [Left Wing Extremism (LWE)]-hit areas, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (UMHA) has told States that the Communist party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) had not only retained their battle capabilities over the past few years but had also extensively militarised. The UMHA assessment of the Naxal situation was shared with the States ahead of conference of Chief Ministers on Internal Security on April 16. It added the movement was poised to not only consolidate in its strongholds but also grow in affected areas unless countered with “resolute and sustained action”.
