Four persons, including a Head Constable,
were killed in separate acts
of target killings in Karachi
on April 26, reports Daily
Times. A senior Pakistan
People’s Party (PPP) leader,
Malik Muhammad Khan Niazi, was
shot dead when he gathered up
people to hold protest against
the conviction of Prime Minister
Yousuf Raza Gilani in a contempt
of court case at Aath Chowk
near Noorani Hotel within the
precincts of Kalakot Police
Station.  
Separately, an activist of the Awami
National Party (ANP), identified
as Gul Shan Khan alias
Rambo (30), was shot dead near
Babar Market within the limits
of Landhi Police Station.  
In another incident, Police
found an unidentified dead body
of a young man from Darya Abad
area of Lyari within the remit
of Kalri Police Station. Police
said he appeared to be of Baloch
descent and had been abducted
by unidentified militants from
an unknown place and abandoned
his body after killing him.
In a separate incident of firing between
the Police and Lyari gangsters,
a head constable was killed
and two others were injured
within the precincts of Baghdadi
Police Station. According to
Police, Baghdadi Police cordoned
off Mosa Lane area for a targeted
operation but faced stiff resistance
from Lyari gangsters. The gangsters
opened indiscriminate gunshots
on the Police party. In police’s
retaliation, an alleged gangster
associated with Baba Ladla group,
Ayaz alias Lehri, was
injured. Later, a reinforcement
team of the Crime Investigation
Department (CID) was on its
way to the area when unidentified
armed assailants sprayed its
vehicles with bullets, injuring
three Policemen including Sub
Inspector (SI) Anwaar Lodhi,
Head Constable Muhammad Altaf
and Police Constable Aamir Baig.
Altaf later succumbed to his
injures.  
Elsewhere, the CID of Sindh Police
claimed to have arrested four
politically motivated target
killers and recovered weapons
in a raid in Korangi Industrial
Area. A CID team raided the
area on a tip-off and arrested
Kashif Ahmed alias Buddha,
Muhammad Furqan, Arshad alias
Arshi and Asghar Khan alias
Shani, and recovered one MP-5,
three TT pistols and two motorbikes.
 
Meanwhile, five people including Police
personnel were injured during
a grand operation that began
in Karachi’s Lyari area where
a heavy contingent of Police
and Frontier Constabulary (FCB)
personnel took action against
criminal elements, reported
Dawn. Law enforcement
personnel faced resistance upon
their arrival and blockades
were placed at all entry and
exit points of the area. A Police
Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC)
came under grenade attack in
Nawa Lane area of Lyari. However, no loss of life was reported in the
attack. |
