The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist)
cadres killed two of their former
cadres who had surrendered in
2006, in Dhanora tehsil
(revenue unit) in Gadchiroli
District on April 25, reports
The Times of India. The
victims have been identified
as Devrao Usendi (37) and Ramsai
Narote (45). Their dead bodies
were found on the Markegaon-Sawargaon
road, close to the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra
border, around 95-km away from
Gadchiroli District Headquarters.
Usendi was the former head of
the Markegaon area Sangam while
Narote was one of the cadres
of the Maoist people’s militia
in Markegaon before giving up
arms. Further, The Times
of India reports that the
Maoists have abducted at least
12 villagers. However, Superintendent
of Police (SP) S Veeresh Prabhu
denied any abduction.
Meanwhile, Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh
said that the repeated abductions
and killings by the CPI-Maoist is part
of the Tactical Counter Offensive
Campaign (TCOC) launched by
the outfit in March, reports
