The Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) on April 4 endorsed
a
time-bound
action
plan
to
vacate
the
cantonments
of
Peoples,
Liberation
army
(PLA)
combatants
and
hand
over
the
stored
weapons
to
the
Nepal
Army
by
April
12,
reports
Kantipuronline.
The
technical
teams
assigned
by
the
AISC
will
depart
to
cantonment
sites
from
April
6
and
start
the
process
of
discharging
the
combatants
who
wish
to
go
for
retirement
from
April
9.
The
cross-party
committee,
which
met
in
the
presence
of
top
brass
of
the
major
parties,
however,
failed
to
resolve
contentious
issues
of
Army
integration.
Leaders
have
committed
that
the
next
AISC
meeting
slated
for
April
8
will
forge
consensus
on
mechanism
to select
combatants
to
serve
in
the
NA,
period
of
training,
rank
determination
and
the
structure
of
general
directorate
that
would
integrate
the
combatants.
