FICN worth INR 90,000 recovered in Meghalaya

The Telegraph reports that Border Security Force (BSF) on May 11 arrested a Bangladeshi national from an area near border pillar (BP) number 1266/6-S in East Khasi Hills District while he was trying to infiltrate into the State. The BSF recovered Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth INR 90,000 in various denominations, besides a mobile phone from the infiltrator. The infiltrator was identified as Rashel Khan (32), son of Haji Mustaba Khan from Moulvi Bazar of Bangladesh. BSF recovered a photocopy of a passport of Rashel allegedly in the name of one Islam Saiful, a resident of Nagaon in Assam, issued by the Guwahati Regional Passport Office. The passport was procured from one Sarifuddin of Barpokri village in Assam’s Nagaon District.

Meanwhile, the Breakaway faction of the Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC-B) has asserted that it is ready to enter into talks with the State Government over its demands, reports The Shillong Times. Talking to The Shillong Times on May 11 over phone from an undisclosed location, ANVC-B ‘chairman’ Rimpu N Marak said, “We are ready for talks as ultimately negotiation is the only way to solve the issues.”  “We expect that the Government will initiate the talks as soon as possible,” Marak said.  When asked about the demands of the outfit, Marak said that the outfit is not demanding for a separate Garo state but a separate administrative setup for Garos in general. “We want a separate setup so that development and prosperity can come in our areas,” he added.
