The Telegraph reports that Border Security Force (BSF) on May 11 arrested
a
Bangladeshi
national
from
an
area
near
border
pillar
(BP)
number
1266/6-S
in
East
Khasi
Hills
District
while
he
was
trying
to
infiltrate
into
the
State.
The
BSF
recovered
Fake
Indian
Currency
Notes
(FICN)
worth
INR
90,000
in
various
denominations,
besides
a
mobile
phone
from
the
infiltrator.
The
infiltrator
was
identified
as
Rashel
Khan
(32),
son
of
Haji
Mustaba
Khan
from
Moulvi
Bazar
of
Bangladesh.
BSF
recovered
a
photocopy
of
a
passport
of
Rashel
allegedly
in
the
name
of
one
Islam
Saiful,
a
resident
of
Nagaon
in
Assam, issued by the Guwahati Regional Passport Office. The passport was procured
from
one
Sarifuddin
of
Barpokri
village
in
Assam’s
Nagaon
District.
 
Meanwhile, the Breakaway faction of the Achik National Volunteer
Council
(ANVC-B)
has
asserted
that
it
is
ready
to
enter
into
talks
with
the
State
Government
over
its
demands,
reports

Talking
to
The
Shillong
Times
on
May
11
over
phone
from
an
undisclosed
location,
ANVC-B
‘chairman’
Rimpu
N
Marak
said,
“We
are
ready
for
talks
as
ultimately
negotiation
is
the
only
way
to
solve
the
issues.”
“We
expect
that
the
Government
will
initiate
the
talks
as
soon
as
possible,”
Marak
said.
When
asked
about
the
demands
of
the
outfit,
Marak
said
that
the
outfit
is
not
demanding
for
a
separate
Garo
state
but
a
separate
administrative
setup
for
Garos
in
general.
“We
want
a
separate
setup
so
that
development
and
prosperity
can
come
in
our
areas,”
he
added. |
