Police claimed to have arrested a suspected woman cadre of
the
Communist
Party

India-Maoist
(CPI-Maoist)Maoist),
identified
as
Rebati
Nayak,
from
a
forest
in
Naktideula
area
in
Sambalpur
District
on
an
unspecified
date,
reports
The
Hindu.
Police
sources
said
Rebati
is
an
active
cadre
of
Sambalpur-Deogarh-Sundargarh
Zonal
committee
of
CPI-Maoist. A cadre of the outfit since 2003, Rebati has
18
non-bailable
warrants
pending
against
her
in
Sambalpur
and
Deogarh
District.
Her
husband
Bimba
Bhoi
is
also
an
influential
cadre
in
the
same
‘Zonal
committee’.
 
Meanwhile, the Maoists have given a bandh (shut down
strike)
call
in
Koraput
District
on
May
16.
The
Koraput-Srikakulam
divisional
committee
of
the
CPI-Maoist
has
given
the
bandh
call.
The
Maoist
division
functions
under
the
Andhra-Odisha
Border
Special
Zonal
Committee
(AOBSZC).
Daya
alias
Chemmala
Krishnamurthi,
‘secretary’
of
Koraput-Srikakulam
divisional
committee,
has
sent
a
letter
to
newsmen
in
Koraput
District
regarding
the
bandh
call.
It
may
be
noted
that
Daya
was
the
key
element
behind
abduction
of
the
Laxmipur
Biju
Janata
Dal
Member
of
Legislative
Assembly
Jhina
Hikaka
in
Koraput
District
on
March
24.
Through
the
letter
written
in
Telugu,
Daya
has
informed
that
this
bandh
call
is
given
to
protest
against
National
Counter
Terrorism
Centre
(NCTC)
and
anti-Maoist
operations
like
Operation
Green
Hunt.
Maoists
are
also
demanding
withdrawal
of
Border
Security
Force
(BSF)
personnel
from
Narayanpatna
area
of
Koraput
District.
 
Separately, responding to media queries on May 12, chief minister
Naveen
Patnaik
sought
to
underplay
the
Centre's
observation
on
spread
of
Maoist
activity
in
the
State,
reports
The
Times
of
India.
"The
allegations
are
not
correct.
We
will
give
a
reply
to
the
Union
government
on
Monday
[May
14],"
he
said.
Official
sources
said
the
Government
is
now
preparing
a
detailed
rebuttal
to
be
sent
