| Maoist 'sub-zonal commander' arrested in Jharkhand |
Palamu District Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
arrested Satender Paswan (29), a ‘sub-zonal
commander’ of the Communist Party
of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist)
at a house in Polpol village in Palamu
District on May 14, reports The
Times of India. Paswan is an accused
in 18 cases of murder, kidnapping,
arson, destroying public utility system
like telephone towers in the District.
The Security Forces recovered a country-made
revolver of 315 bore from him.
Meanwhile, normal life in the urban areas remained unaffected
in East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan
Districts during the Bharat bandh
(All India shutdown strike) called
by the Maoists on May 16, reports

and Dumaria, Ghorabandha, Chakulia
in East Singhbhum and Nimdih and Chowka

distance buses remained off the roads
while mining in West Singhbhum was
badly affected, the sources said.
No untoward incident was reported,
they said. The bandh was called
to demand immediate halt to Operation
