Maoist gets 10-yearr jail-term in Odisha

The Rayagada District and Sessions Judge Court in Rayagada District on May 18, awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) to Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre Gembali Chinarao alias Santu in two cases, reports The Pioneer. The court also slapped a penalty of INR 50,000 on him.

Separately, the Phulbani Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court in Kandhamal District rejected the bail plea of CPI-Maoist Sabyasachi Panda in the case of abduction of two Italian tourists on May 18, reports The Pioneer. Notably, the two Italian tourists Paulo Bosusco (54) and Claudio Colangelo (61), had been abducted in March 2012, while trekking in Daringbadi in Kandhamal District.
