The Telegraph reports that body of Boda Pani Pathak, superintendent engineer of Gauripur agriculture-engineering department in Dhubri District, was recovered from Bongaigaon District on May 3. Pathak along with executive engineer Faizur Islam was abducted from Kharagpur under Boithamari Police Station in the same District on May 2. The whereabouts of Faizur Islam is not yet known. Police did not rule out the possibility of the involvement of militant groups and is looking into the involvement of the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO).

Meanwhile, Police recovered 35 rounds live bullets from a bus at Ghagrapar under Nalbari District, reports The Sentinel.

Central Government told Guwahati High Court (GHC) that “exigencies of administration and demand from civil society” were the reasons behind its decision not to oppose the bail pleas of militant leaders [Black Widow (BW) ‘Chairman’ Jewel Garlosa and ‘Commander-in-Chief’ Niranjan Hojai] and to expedite the peace process, reports The Telegraph. Earlier, On April 26, GHC had asked Central Government to explain the circumstances and grounds on which they decided not to object to the bail petitions of top leaders of BW.
