Four cases filed against 18 ICS cadres for violence in Chittagong City

The Police have filed four separate cases accusing 18 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir  (ICS) in connection with their alleged involvement in May 30's hartal violence in Chittagong city, reports The Daily Star . All the accused were arrested from different areas in the port city on the hartal day. Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), the parent party of ICS observed a half day hartal in the port city on May 30 in protest of sending Jamaat lawmaker ANM Shamsul Islam to jail in an arson case.

Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on May 31 rejected a bail petition for attending the ongoing parliament session submitted by the counsels of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Member of Parliament (MP) Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury who is facing charges of war crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, reports The Independent reports.
