Lashkar-e-Islam denies link to Doctor Shakeel Afridi

The Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) said on May 31 that it never had ties to Doctor Shakeel Afridi, who is accused of treason for helping the United States (US) Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) find slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, even though Islamabad on May 30 changed its stand and said that Doctor Afridi was jailed for aiding LI, reports Daily Times. “We have no link to such a shameless man. If we see him we’ll chew him alive,” said Abdul Rasheed, an LI commander, adding, “There is no truth to this. We want to get him ourselves. If we get hold of him, we are going to punish him according to the Sharia’ah, (Islamic Law)”. Rasheed said Afridi was a bad doctor who had mistreated people and that was why they wanted to punish him. “He is a traitor, an enemy of Islam, a greedy blackmailer,” he said.
