Police said
that the
Maoists
picked up
Sanjay Mandal
(37), the
civil contractor,
from his
house and
fired three
bullets
at him from
close range
killing
him on the
spot.
Meanwhile, Maoists in Gadchiroli District
have struck
fear in
the hearts
of 68 elected
representatives
of civic
bodies,
forcing
them to
give resignation,
reports
DNA.
Eighteen
of the 68
Panchayati
Raj institutions’
representatives
are heads
of villages,
44 are panchayat
samiti
(block level
local self-Government
institution)
members
and one
is from
the zilla
parishad
(district
level local
self-Government
institution)
at Bhamragarh.
The State administration is reportedly trying to convince
them to
take back
their resignations.
