India
Civilian abducted in Assam

Unidentified persons on June 11 abducted a supervisor of a private rubber plantation from Taralangso locality near Diphu town in Karbi Anglong District, reports Nagaland Post on June 12. According to a reliable source, the abductors have placed a demand of INR 500,000 for his release.

Meanwhile, Security forces (SFs) rescued one abducted labourer, Dirkip Basumatery, from Thekarajan locality at the foothills of Singhason range in the same District. The labourer was the part of 18 laborers [Disclosed by the company engaged in construction work on June11] who were abducted by suspected Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants on June 10. Five laborers were released on the same day after severe beating.

Elsewhere, the Central Government on June 12 signed a draft Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) with the Dilip Nunisa faction of Dima Halim Daogah (DHD-N), reports Assam Tribune. The report adds that draft MoS will now be sent to the State Government for approval by the State Cabinet.
