Kanglaonline reports on June 16 that a State police team will be soon leaving for the New Delhi to take custody of Ningthoujam Shanti alias Chinglemba, the ‘general secretary’ of the United Peoples’ Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), who was arrested by a team of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officials from Nepal. He was arrested from Lajempak in Kathmandu city in Nepal on June 12. According to a source, the State team led by a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer will leave the State as soon as the external intelligence agency brings back the militant leader to New Delhi. The source added that the militant leader and three of his associates who were arrested along with him in Nepal will be brought to the State relating to several cases registered against them with several Police Stations in the State. The militant cadres will however be transferred back to RAW custody after a brief stay under the State Police custody, the source added. |
