71 elected representatives of civic bodies in Gadchiroli of Maharashtra resign due to Maoists threat
Seventy one elected representatives of civic bodies in Gadchiroli
District of Maharashtra have
resigned from their posts,
apparently due to Communist
Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist)
threat, reports Indian
Express. Talking to reporters
in Gadchiroli on June 20 evening,
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
of Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad
(ZP, district level local
self-Government institution)
Sumant Bhange said 71 elected
representatives have resigned
in the last one month. Of
these representatives, one
is ZP member, four Panchayat
Samiti (block level local
self-Government institution)
members and 66 village Panchayat
(village level local self
government institution) members,
he said.
