50 persons injured in clashes after gutting of a 200-year old shrine in Srinagar
At least 50 persons, including 10 Policemen, were injured in
clashes that erupted
between Police and
protesters following
gutting of over
200-year old Dastageer
Sahib Shrine at
Khanyar in Srinagar
in the morning of
June 25, reports
Daily Excelsior.
The shrine and adjacent
Masjid (mosque)
was completely destroyed
in fire. However,
the main relic inside
the sanctum sanatorium
was retrieved safely. 
The Muthida Majlis-e-Ulam (United Forum of Islamic Scholars)
called for one day
strike on June 26
(today) and it was
supported by other
organizations including
the All Party Hurriyat
Conference-Mirwaiz
(APHC-M).
