Two Sarbahara Party leaders killed in Pabna

Two senior leaders of the ĎAlam-Swapan Bahinií faction of the left-wing extremist Sarbahara Party were killed on June 30 during a shootout between the security force personnel and extremists at Sargram village in the Pabna district, reports Daily Star. The killed extremists were identified as Mohmmed Swapan of Sargram village and chief of the ''Alam-Swapan Bahini'' and Mohammed Zohurul of Bauikhola village, a regional commander of the outfit. The shootout followed a raid by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel at a place near the Sargram Dakhil Madrassa at Sargram village where the extremists were holding a meeting. A single-barrel gun, a .32 bore rifle and five rounds of bullet were recovered from the encounter site.

Separately, on June 29, three Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) cadres were arrested from Bagmara in the Rajshahi district and were sent to jail. The extremists were identified as Kanai Chandra Das alias Kanu, Protul Kumar Sarker, and Shaymol Kumar Jamadar, all hailing from Taherpur bazaar in Bagmara.
