Hideout neutralized in Jammu and Kashmir

Security Forces (SFs) on July 27 recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a militant hideout busted in Ramban District, reports Daily Excelsior. "Based on specific inputs regarding presence of a hideout in Harah area of Gool, the Rashtriya Rifles along with Territorial Army and Police this afternoon launched search operations and unearthed a hideout," official sources said. They added that during searches one .303 rifle (Registered No 84837M), one Pistol 7.62 mm, 11 catridges of .303 calibre, one UBGL (in Rusted and Broken condition) and one Radio Set without a Battery (in Unserviceable condition) were recovered from the hideout.

Separately, in a joint search operation, Police and Army recovered arms ammunition at Shirpora in Baramulla District on July 27. Police said that during the search operation at village Shirpora, one AK 47 magazine, 30 rounds of AK ammunition, two hand grenades, 14 leaves of Al-Badr letter pad and three of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was recovered.

Further, in a massive man hunt that has been launched by the SFs in South Kashmir against militants, particularly LeT, after attacks on Police and Army early this month (July), SFs on July 27 arrested a LeT militant from Wahipora village in Pulwama District and is questioning him about LeT men who carried out recent strikes against Police and Army in South Kashmir. SFs cordoned the house of one Ajaz Ahmad and arrested a LeT militant, Mohammad Mohsin Thoker alias Abu Hamza, from the house.  Police said that a mobile phone, one SIM card, one memory card, 12 letter pads of LeT and one LeT stamp were recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, over 30 people were injured in clashes that broke out in Bandipora town of Bandipora District for third consecutive day on July 27 against the killing of a youth in Army firing on July 24.  Hundreds of people gathered at Aloosa, the native village of Dar. They took to streets and carried out a protest march towards Bandipora town to protest against the killing. As reported earlier, 21-year old youth, identified as Hilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Aloosa in Bandipora, was killed in Army firing in the night of July 24 in Bandipora District.
