Hair DNA helps to identify April 17, 2010 Bangalore stadium blasts accused

A strand of hair found on a defused bomb at Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17, 2010 helped Police establish the identity of a terrorist who planted it, reports The Times of India on August 10. A Bangalore Police official said the hair was of Mohammed Qateel Siddiqui (30), one of five suspects arrested by a special cell of the New Delhi Police in November 2010. Siddiqqui was killed in a brawl in Pune central jail. According to the official, four stands of hair were found on an unexploded bomb in front of Gate No. 1 of the stadium. After Delhi Police arrested four terrorists, Bangalore Police sought custody of three of them. City Police collected the samples of the three terrorists and sent them to the forensic lab here. Before, the lab confirmed Siddiqui planted the bomb he was dead in the brawl. "The lab results came in mid-May and will be added to the charge sheet," said T Suneel Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) (law & order).
