AAPSU cautions Arunachal Pradesh Government against illegal immigrants

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) cautioned the Arunachal Government to keep a strict vigil along the border and tighten its intelligence apparatus to avoid immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh from coming to the state as a spillover effect of the violence as reported in various media, reports Times of India on August 1. AAPSU expressed its concern over the situation arising out of the Bodo-Muslims clashes that have rocked the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) areas in Assam. AAPSU statement said, "According to various media reports, the fallout of the violence, in a way, has been due to the presence of unaccounted illegal immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh and, as such, this cannot be considered as an isolated case affecting only the BTC region." The student body added, "Rather, the country in general and the northeastern region in particular should view the situation seriously keeping in mind the complexity of the problem that can have far-reaching consequences in the demographic set up and on the internal security of the country."
