More SFs to be deployed in Maoist affected areas, says DGP in Odisha

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha, R P Sharma said more Security Forces (SFs) would be deployed in the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) affected Kandhamal District on September 12, reports Odisha TV. While attending a review meeting, Sharma took the decision after reviewing Maoist activities in the KKBN (Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh) division of the CPI-Maoist. He also stated that CPI-Maoist cadres are taking the geographical advantage of Kandhamal District to expand their activities. The District is densely forested and surrounded by hills. Sharma stressed on deployment of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) in a strategic manner. The review meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Intelligence, IGP, Law and Order, IGP, Southern Range, IG, CRPF and Superintendent of Police (SP), Kandhamal.
