Two PLFI cadres killed in encounter in Jharkhand

Two cadres of Peopleís Liberation Front of India (PLFI), including a woman cadre, were killed in a joint operation by the Security Forces (SFs) comprising of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG), at Kantabandatoli hill under Gudri Police Station in West Singhbhum District on September 12, reports The Pioneer. According to Police, the spot where the encounter took place is close to the border of Khunti Districtís Rania Police Station, which is considered to be a PLFI stronghold. Acting on a tip-off, that a squad of about a dozen PLFI rebels was anchored on the border of Rania jungle in Khunti District and Kantabandatoli hill under Gudri Thana area in West Singhbhum District, the Khunti Police started a search operation. The rebels opened fire on seeing the CRPF troopers and in the counter attack two rebels were killed. After the encounter, Police recovered one 9mm carbine and double-barrel gun, cartridges of both the carbine and double-barrel gun from the spot along with the dead bodies. Besides, Police have also recovered a cell phone. The identity of the cadres is yet to be identified. PLFI is a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).
