Three civilians (Afghan nomads) were killed by Islamic State (IS) in a public execution in a ‘desert court’ in Momand Dara District of Nangarhar Province, reports Bakhtar News on October 10.
Meanwhile, four persons smuggling narcotics (hashish, opium and heroin) were arrested by Afghan Security Forces to on their way to Marko Bazzar located in Jalalabad-Torkham highway in an unspecified district of Nangarhar Province, reports Bakhtar News on October 10.
Separately, 75 Taliban militants including five ‘commanders’ identified as Qari Fazal Ur Rehman, Qari Haqqani, Qari Mir Zaman, Zarawar Khan, and Qari Sharafuddin previously fighting in Bati Kot District joined the peace process in Nangarhar Province, reports Khaama Press on October 10. Provincial Governor Hayatullah Hayat stated that “we will use these Taliban in the security of the district and they will join other residents and security forces in fighting against the enemy”, adds Tolo News.
