Police on April 25 killed two cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in an encounter during a search operation in the Parhel Reserve Forest area in Boudh District of Odisha, reports argusenglish.in. Following a tip-off about the presence of 40 to 50 ultras, the personnel of Special Operation Group (SOG), an elite commando unit of Odisha Police, launched a search operation in the Parhel Reserve Forest early on April 25 morning. The extremists opened fire after seeing the security personnel. Director of intelligence, Soumendra Priyadarshi, said the bodies of two Maoist cadres were recovered by the elite anti-naxal force special operations group after an exchange of fire with a group of Maoists in the Parhel reserve forest area of Boudh District. “The deceased were identified as Sunil and Santu, both party members, and both belong to the 8th Company of Maoists. Sunil is originally from Sukma, and Santu is from Bijapur in Chhattisgarh,” said the Police. Police have so far seized arms, grenades, and other incriminating articles. A Maoist camp has reportedly been destroyed by them.

A four-member group of suspected armed cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were spotted in the Kambamala area in Wayanad District of Kerala on April 24 and urged the people to boycott the April 26 Lok Sabha (Lower House of the Indian Parliament) polls, reports India Today. The Maoists reached the area around 6:15 a.m. and spoke to the labourers for 20 minutes. They raised slogans and called on the people to boycott voting. The suspected rebels were wearing uniforms and carrying guns. A video of the Maoists surfaced, in which they were seen interacting with the locals. According to locals, Maoist leader CP Moiteen was present in the group. The video showed that there were people, mainly workers, at the junction at the time of their arrival.
Security Forces (SFs) killed three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 24, reports Dawn. In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said an IBO was carried out in the area on the night of April 24 based on the “reported presence of terrorists”. “During the conduct of operation, intense fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists, as a result of which three terrorists were sent to hell, including terrorist ringleader Sohail Azmato and terrorist ringleader Haji Gul Zarkavi. Terrorists’ hideout was also busted during the operation,” the ISPR said. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants who had remained “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area, added ISPR.

The dead body of a forcibly disappeared person, Malik Reha, son of Gul Muhammad Marri, was recovered from the Machi check post in Kohlu District of Balochistan on April 22, reports The Balochistan Post. Reha was taken into custody by Security Forces (SFs) eleven days ago along with another individual and transferred to an undisclosed location.
