On April 20, the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) stated on the social media platform 'X' (Twitter) that three Taliban fighters were killed and two others were injured when they targeted a Taliban military factory named Fabrika-e-Harbi area in the 2nd Police District (PD) in Kabul city of Kabul Province, on April 19.
On April 19, the National Resistance Front (NRF) said on the social media platform 'X' (Twitter) that a Taliban fighter was killed and Sheikh Khodabakhsh, the ‘district governor’ for Bangi, along with two other Taliban fighters, were injured during the NRF's rocket attack targeting the security headquarters of Bangi District in Takhar Province.
A 32-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Constable Devendra Kumar was killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast triggered by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) near a polling booth in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on April 19, reports The Indian Express. Devendra of the CRPF’s Battalion 196 was among those out on an area domination exercise around 500 metres from the polling booth, where voting was underway, in the Galgam area – around 55 kilometres from Bijapur district headquarters. Following the blast, injured Kumar was air-lifted to Jagdalpur city in Bastar district and admitted to Jagdalpur Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In the other incident, Mannu, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) assistant commandant suffered serious injuries to his hands and legs when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) suspected to have been planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) went off in the Chihaka area in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on April 19, reports The Indian Express. Other troopers with him also suffered minor injuries and are out of danger.
Police arrested Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Bodan Munda, who was absconding for 14 years, from his house in Gitilbeda village under Arki Police Station limits in Ranchi District of Jharkhand and sent him to jail on April 19, reports livehindustan.com. Cases related to Arms Act, 4/5 Explosive Substances Act and Naxalite [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] cases are registered against Bodan in Arki Police Station.
On April 19, the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a China-made drone (DJI Mavic 3 Classic) in Kalash Havellian village in Tarn Taran District of Punjab, reports Hindustan Times.
On April 18, the Border Security Force (BSF) on the social media platform ‘X’, formerly 'Twitter', stated that after receiving the information, troops recovered a suspected packet wrapped in white transparent packing material with a metal ring attached. Upon opening the packet, one pistol without a magazine was found in Bharopal village in Amritsar District of Punjab.
On April 19, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) froze the immovable property of Surat Singh, a key operative of Khalistani terrorists Habib Khan, alias Doctor, and Lakhveer Singh, alias Rode, in Fazilka District of Punjab, reports the Economic Times. This arrest is related to a 2021 case about a fatal motorcycle-borne explosion in Punjab. NIA investigations have revealed that Habib Khan and Rode collaborated with Surat Singh and other associates in India to create a terror gang in Punjab to perpetrate improvised explosive device (IED) blasts and operate a narco-terror racket to destabilise the region.
A prominent Afghan Taliban ideologue, Sheikh Muhammad Umar Jan Akhundzada, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in a mosque in Nawa Kali area of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, on April 18, reports The Khorasan Diary. Sheikh Muhammad Umar Jan Akhundzada, son of Mullah Bayan, was an Imam in local Mosque in Nawa Kali. He was 50 years old and originally hailed from Zabul province of Afghanistan.
Two more cases of ‘enforced disappearances’ have emerged from the Kech District of Balochistan, The Balochistan Post reported on April 19. Security Forces (SFs) allegedly forcibly disappeared a man named Aziz Shambey during a house raid in Buleda town of Kech District in the night of April 17. Women and children were allegedly severely tortured in the raid by the SF personnel. Similarly, unidentified gunmen detained a civil society leader from Kolwah town of Kech District on April 18. The gunmen abducted Jameel Umar, a social activist and Deputy Convener of the Turbat Civil Society, near Bilour area when he was on his way to Turbat from Kolwah. Local said he was abducted by a government-backed militia (locally known as ‘death squads’).
The Police on April 17 foiled an attempt by militants to attack a Police station in Bargai area of Lakki Marwat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports Dawn. Police said that a group of militants assembled in the remote rural area in the night to target the Police Station building. Police personnel deployed at the Police Station noticed movement of the militants and opened fire on them. “Before the terrorists could strengthen their position, the Policemen who were fully alert attacked them,” an unnamed Police officer maintained, adding that the quick response by Police left the armed terrorists with no option but to flee the area.
