On April 24, a combined team consisting of Manipur Police and India Army personnel recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition along with explosives in Sabungkhok Khunao-Chanung ridge near Sabungkhok village in Imphal East District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now. The operation resulted in the recovery of four improvised long-range mortars (Pompi), one 9mm pistol, one 7.65mm pistol, two .303 rifles, ammunition and three grenades.
Security personnel recovered three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during an anti-Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) operation launched in the Jimki Ikir village under Tonto Police Station limits in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on April 24, reports NDTV. "The security personnel were carrying out an intensified operation jointly in various villages within the limits of Goilkera and Tonto police stations today when they detected three IEDs planted by banned CPI (Maoists) to target them in a forest near Jimki Ikir village within the limits of the Tonto police station," Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Shekhar, said. The IEDs, weighing five kilograms each, were destroyed on the spot by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). Besides, security personnel also recovered 125 kilograms of rice, packets of salt, mustard oil, chilly and turmeric powder.

The arrested cadres were identified as Mankhul Mossang (28), Mannong Mossang (39) and Jhonwang Hakum (21).The trio was accused of providing logistical support ration and guidance to the ULFA-I cadres involved in the ambush.

Eighteen Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, including three women, surrendered before Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Dantewada Police in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on april 24, reports The Times of India. The surrendered cadres were members of the Bhairamgarh and Malanger area committees and include ‘section commander’ of Hurrepal panchayat ‘militia’ (people’s army of the Maoists) platoon ‘A’ Hidma Oyam (34), ‘deputy commander’ of panchayat ‘militia’ platoon Sambati Oyam (23), ‘vice-president’ of Krantikari Mahila Adivasi Sangthan (KAMS) of Kakadi panchayat, Gangi Madkam (28), and Hurrepal Chetna Natya Manch (CNM) member Hungi Oyam, said Police. Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Rai told that all the surrendered cadres were involved in digging up roads, uprooting trees, and hanging up Maoist posters and banners. He said he has appealed to Maoists to give up violence and join the mainstream.
One person was killed in a rocket attack at the election office of a Pakistan People's Party (PPP) candidate in Kohlu town (Kohlu District) of Balochistan in the evening of April 23, reports Dawn. Officials said two rockets, fired from an unknown location, landed and exploded near the election office of Mir Nasibullah Marri. The victim was hit by splinters, resulting in his death. Marri had contested the election for Balochistan Assembly from Kohlu’s PB-9 constituency and was elected MPA. However, the losing candidate challenged the result, and the Election Commission ordered re-polling in seven polling stations. Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N)’s Nawab Jangeez Khan Marri won the seat after re-polling.
At least nine Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were injured when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Tirah area of Khyber District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 24, reports The Khorasan Diary. “They were returning from their positions when the incident took place”, said local officials.

The number of proscribed outfits has swelled to 79 after the first addition in the list of terrorist organisations in four years, Dawn reported on April 24. The latest addition to the list, the Zainebiyoun Brigade (ZB), is a militant group which was designated by the US State Department as a terrorist organisation in 2019. The decision to ban Zainebiyoun Brigade was notified after escalation of tensions with Iran in January and implemented on March 29. Seen by observers as a move by Islamabad to appease Washington, while others speculate this was done to win favour with Riyadh, whose foreign minister visited Pakistan recently. Formed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) after a civil war broke out in Syria in 2011, the Zainebiyoun Brigade, also known as Liwa Zainebiyoun, is charged with mobilising Pakistani Shias to fight forces opposed to Syrian ruler Bashar Al Assad, a close ally of Tehran and Moscow. The Brigade has acknowledged ties with the Quds Force since around the 2001 US invasion of Afghanistan, and its formation was announced in 2014 during the conflict in Syria. It recently pledged its readiness to follow orders from the IRGC.
A Provincial Government meeting on April 23 expressed serious concern over poor law and order situation in the Province despite spending a huge amount of PKR 55 billion annually to ensure peace and security, reports Dawn. The meeting, presided over by Home and Tribal Affairs Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, pledged to ensure security and law and order across the province, especially on highways linking the province with other parts of the country. The meeting discussed recent incidents of terrorism, which claimed innocent lives in different areas of the Province. The authorities concerned briefed the meeting about steps taken by law-enforcement agencies to ensure security and safety of the masses. It decided to use all available resources to maintain law and order and all highways and inter-provincial roads would be made safe for secure and peaceful travel of the people.
