At least 29 militants were killed and 23 others injured in ShirinTagab and Khwaja Sabzposh Districts of Faryab Province in the night of January 1, reports Bakhtar News. Mohammad Hanif Rezaee Shaheen 209 Army Corps spokesman said the insurgents were killed in clash and air raids of Afghan Security Forces (SFs) while they stormed on a convoy of SFs in highways of Shirintagab and Khwaja Sabzposh Districts. The killed included two Iranian insurgents and two local ‘commanders’ of Taliban. Four SF personnel were also inured.

A prominent leader of the Red Unit of Taliban and Almar District shadow chief were among 28 militants killed during the operations conducted by the Afghan forces and airstrikes of coalition forces in Almar and Qarghan Districts of Faryab province on January 6, reports The Khaama Press.According to a statement released by 209thShaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North, Mawlavi Habib, a high-ranking leader of the Red Unit of Taliban has been killed.The statement further added that Mullah Sarwar, the District shadow chief of the group for Almar District has also been killed during the same operations.Several weapons and a large quantity of weapons and munitions have also been confiscated during the operations, the 209thShaheen Corps added in its statement.
