Two United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) militants suspected to be involved in the January 26 bomb blast at Teok ghat (Charaideo District) were arrested from Sepakathi in Charaideo District in Assam on January 29, reports The Telegraph. The arrestees were identified as Manas Jyoti Padmavat alias Bastab Jyoti Asom and Chow Lakhi Longno alias Rubul Asom. One 5.56mm AR HK33 rifle with 33 live rounds and two magazines were recovered from the cadres. They had joined ULFA-I in 2009 and 2017 respectively. East Mojo adds that Charaideo Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Mishra stated that "It is suspected that the duo are part of a six-member 'crack-gang' of ‘Arohan’ of ULFA-I and were recently seen hovering the inter-state border of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh-Nagaland in the last few days before the blast took place."The Sentinel adds that arrestees were part of the crack group led by Apurba Gogoi alias Arohan Asom which is suspected to be behind the Serial Blast.

Acting on the information disclosed by two arrested cadres of People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCKL) identified as Clarbong Teron and Jirsong Hanse, a search operation was launched and two more PDCKL cadres identified as Armung Terang alias Cling Terang (25), and Longkam Dera alias Mohen Fangso (21), were arrested by the Security Forces (SFs) from Langbongkroi under Dokmoka Police Station limits in Karbi Anglong District of Assam on January 31, reports The Sentinel. The SFs also recovered a .22 pistol along with 04 ammunition from their possession. Armung Terang is a Self-Styled ‘Lance Corporal’ and Longkam Dera is PT (Private trainer, rank not conferred yet) of PDCKL. Earlier, PDCKL cadres namely Clarbong Teron and Jirsong Hanse were handed to Police by local people of Virvar Sai Teron gaon in Karbi Anglong when they came to collect extortion money there. One money receipt book and 18 pads of PDCKL were recovered from their possession. Both of them were reported to be the close aides of David Mukrang, army chief ‘Captain’ of PDCKL. The duo sustained injuries as local people assaulted them.

As per the report, the recoveries were made following the confessional statement of a militant of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) identified as, Raktim Gogoi alias Bakhar Asom (25), resident of Pengeri village in Tinsukia District of the State who was earlier arrested on February 3 in the District. According to Police, after planting the IEDs in Guwahati on February 2, Gogoi was returning home when he was arrested by the Police.

We apprehended four hardcore cadres and four minor recruits from different places of Tinsukia in a marathon operation that continued for two days and two nights since Monday,” an unnamed senior official said. “Along with them, four minor cadre recruits, all of whom are below 15 years, were rescued. The operation was conducted at various places such as Makum, Digboi and Kakopathar,” the source said.
