In the Sibsagar district, ULFA cadres used a remote-controlled device to blow up a pipeline of the Oil Indian Limited (OIL) carrying crude oil, running over the Disang River at Baksu Konwargaon under Serekapar police station. The explosion caused fire, gutting nearby houses, which was subsequently brought under control. The explosion has reportedly disrupted crude oil supply to the refineries in Numaligarh and Sibsagar. On the same day, another pipeline carrying gas was blown up at an unspecified place near Duliajan in the Dibrugarh district disrupting supply to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation plant at Kothalguri. Separately, an electricity supply transformer was blown up near Lakhimpur town on August 7.
