The duo was identified as Kamlesh Yadav and Priyanka Devi alias Sushma Devi, wifeof TSPC ‘commander’ Rakesh Ganjhu. A sum of INR 24,300 collected as a levy, bank passbook, ATM card, Naxal[Left Wing Extremist, LWE] literature,notebook, branded watch and Nepali Currency have been recovered from their possession.

An exchange of fire took place between the Security Forces (SFs) and Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres at a forested area of Hirmagunda village under Gangaloor Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on January 5, reports Outlook. A joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), its elite unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) and the District Force was out on an anti-Naxal[Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation in the area when a group of armed rebels opened fire, prompting the SFs to retaliate. While no casualties were reported in the gun-battle, the SFs recovered a single-barrel muzzle loading (SBML) gun, a couple of bows and arrows and a cache of materials of daily use from the spot.

Security Forces (SFs) neutralized a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) camp following an exchange of fire near Lengerimunda village at Chakapad area in Kandhamal District of Odisha on January 7, reports The New Indian Express. An anti-Maoist operation was launched by a joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Volunteer Force (DVF) near the said village. While combing operation was underway, the rebels resorted to heavy firing and hurled grenades.The SFs retaliated following which the Maoists escaped taking advantage of the dense forest cover. While no casualty was reported from either side in the incident, the SFs recovered a detonator, two hand grenades, country-made guns, two magazines, haversacks, black uniforms, medicines, clothes and utensils from the camp.

The Security Forces (SFs) recovered gunpowder, nails, glass, wire and other explosive-making materials from a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) hideout in Bharnoli forest at ArjuniMorgaon tehsil(revenue unit) in Gondia District of Maharashtra on January 10, reports Outlook. The operation was carried out by a joint team of local Police, C-60 commandos and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel. “We have recovered a container of 10 kilograms capacity, iron nails, glass, wire, black gunpowder etc. A case has been registered with Keshori police station and further probe is on,” Additional Superintendent of Police Atul Kulkarni said.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on February 10 carried out searches in the dense forests of Khunti District in Jharkhand and recovered high-grade explosives belonging to the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), reports The New Indian Express. The searches were conducted in the Korangburu hillock at Jilingkel at the instance of an arrested Maoist identified as Naina alias Birsa Munda. “During the early morning operation, 100 metres of Cordtex wire (a type of detonating cord) and high-grade explosive -- 126 Gelatin sticks, weighing about 15 kgs -- were recovered”, an NIA spokesperson said. Naina was arrested in connection with the killing of five Police personnel in an attack by CPI-Maoist in June, 2019 at Kukru Haat in Seraikela Kharsawan District. The Jharkhand Police had arrested 11 accused and filed two charge-sheets against them. The NIA re-registered the case in December 2020 and arrested five more armed cadres of CPI-Maoist. During Naina's questioning, it was revealed that explosives procured by the CPI-Maoist were hidden at the Korangburu hillock, the NIA spokesperson added.

On Spotting the SFs, the Maoists fired indiscriminately at the team who retaliated leading to a gun-battle in which the two Maoists were killed. Dhillon said huge quantities of firearms and equipment were recovered from the gun factory in the dense forest and hilltop of Rishikund Bhelwa under Shampur Police Station limits inthe District. The recoveries included - 13 pistols of 7.65 mm bore, 17 half-finished pistols, 28 magazines, eight live cartridges, two cell phones, seven barrels, 18 base machines, drilling machines, spring wires used in triggers, about two dozen razors, screwdrivers, hacksaw blades and steel plates. The Maoists managed to escape from the gun factory carrying complete firearms. However, one of the skilled workers engaged in manufacturing the firearms under Maoists’ supervision, identified as Akhilesh Singh alias Karu Singh was arrested from the spot. They were identified as – PaddamMunnialiasTellamMunni, Indravati Area Committee Member (Dandakaranya) of Savanar village and Jarpula Bansi, a contractor of Avupalli of Bijapur District in Chhattisgarh. Munni joined the CPI-Maoists in 2011 and worked as a ‘militia member’ till 2014 of Maddedu Area Committee. In 2015, she was shifted to Krantikari Mahila Sangham (KMS) of Indravati Area Committee and in 2018 and later she was promoted as an area committee member (ACM). Bansi, who was working as a courier to Maddedu Area Maoist party LGS (Local Guerilla Squad) commander Nagesh, used to supply groceries and explosives to Maoists. The 45th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), planted by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, in a series circuit near Dhanora in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh on February 23, reports The Pioneer. Of the two recovered IEDs, one was a pressure cooker bomb and the other one concealed the explosives and the detonator in a pipe type casing. Bhadrachalam Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vineeth G, said Dummugudem Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who were engaged in vehicle inspection at Reguballi village of Dummugudem Mandal spotted two persons moving suspiciously, took them into custody and recovered explosive material from them. Based on the information they provided, Police arrested six others at Cherla bus stand. The arrested persons were labourers working at Sita Rama Lift Irrigation project and Polavaram Project. They stole the explosive material to supply them to the Maoists on the orders of Maoist ‘Gundala Area Committee’ in-charge Bhadru alias Papanna. Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Pallava said, the fighting took place at a forest near Bade Gudra village under Kuakonda Police Station limits when the District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel were on an anti-Maoist drive. After the exchange of fire, the bodies of the two Maoists along with a 9 mm pistol, a country-made revolver and a five kilograms Improvised Explosive Device (IED) were recovered from the spot, the SP said. A cache of arms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, a 12-bore rifle, a 303 rifle, an 8 mm rifle, and some electronic items, was recovered from the spot. The C-60 commandos had received the information that Maoists are gathering in a large number in Tippagarh forest area against the backdrop of ''Naxal week'' being observed by them with the possibility of a planned ambush. “Gadchiroli Police's C-60 commandos conducted the operation on March 29 morning in Khobramenda forest area where they were attacked by 40 to 50 ultras. The exchange of fire lasted for two to two-and-a-half hours in which five Maoists were killed,” Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Goyal said. The slain Maoists included Rushi Raoji alias Bhaskar Hichami (46) of North Gadchiroli division carrying a reward of INR 2.5 million on his head. He had total of 155 offences registered against him, including 41 cases of murder, 78 encounters with Police and other offences. The Security Force (SF) personnel during raids recovered hand grenades, rocket launcher maps and huge cache of spare parts for making these items besides detonators, safety pins, fuses, codex wires, which were meant for supply to the Maoists in Bihar and Jharkhand. A senior STF officer said, Parshuram Singh and his associate Sanjay Singh were arrested from their native Bistaul village under Karauna Police outpost in Jehanabad District, while Parshuram’s two sons Rakesh Singh, Gautam Singh were later arrested from their residence with lathe mechanic Mohammad Badaruddin at Gajadhar Chak under Danapur Police Station area. He also said two hand grenades, three maps of making rocket launchers, four detonators, one pressure switch, two safety fuses, numerous safety pins and grenade levers were recovered from the Danapur residence of Rakesh and Gautam. He said, “Seized items include more than 600 detonators, one regular rifle, seven magazines, six rifle bolts, 25 live cartridges, two wireless sets, three police uniform, electric wire bundle, 279 detonator caps, two strike pins, 685 safety catches, rubber washers for grenades, five partially manufactured grenades, three grenade launching base, Maoist literature and other items.” The senior STF officer said, “They were involved in procuring raw materials, manufacturing spares on lathe machine and supplying them to Maoists,” adding, besides manufacturing these items, Gautam was working with an electronics showroom in Patna. He said Parshuram used to supply all these parts and manufactured materials to Maoist ‘commander’ Arvind Singh before he died two years back. “Arvind was also from Karauna and was a member of the Jharkhand’s special area committee of CPI (Maoist) politburo. He was working for another Latehar based Maoist leader Radhe Yadav,” the officer said. “Rakesh and Gautam used to ask Badaruddin to make parts of different designs on lathe machine for manufacturing grenades, IEDs, rocket launchers and weapons. These were supplied to Maoists through Parshuram,” he said. The officer also said at least two tractor trolleys were dug out from the courtyard of Parshuram till March 31 night.

A team of Police led by Mulugu Sub-Inspector (SI), Harikrishna, unearthed an arms’ dump allegedly belonging to the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) at Mansingh Thanda in Mulugu District of Telangana on April 3, reports Telangana Today. The Police have found a total of 312 live rounds of ammunition, two detonators, and documents relating to the outlawed Maoist party. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Potharaju Sai Chaitanya said that a team of Police including Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) members, two revenue officials, and a photographer had searched for a dump at Mansingh Thanda at his instructions upon receiving reliable information that there was a hidden dump of CPI Maoists in the Podu lands around Mansingh Thanda village in Mulugu Mandal (administrative sub-division). “When the team thoroughly examined the lands, they came across a suspicious spot. They have dug up the soil for about 1.5 metre deep into the ground and found a black cover in it. Immediately, they examined the bag and found ammunition and other material,” he said. Police arrested four Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) party militia members in the forests of Kurnapalli-Burgupad in Cherla Mandal (administrative sub-division) in Bhadradri-Kothagudem District of Telangana on April 12, reports Telangana Today. A statement from the Police said, during combing operations, a few persons were found planting explosive material on a forest track. The Police arrested them and questioned them. The arrested Maoist militia members revealed their identity as Kunjam Sanna, of Basaguda in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh, Sodi Pojje, Vetti Itha and Madivi Raje of Cherla Mandal, and all were working as Maoist militia members for the past one year. Police recovered 10 gelatin sticks, one detonator, cordex wire and other material from their possession. Ram Bhengra, a native of Kulap village and Security Forces (SFs) recovered two country-made fire weapons, two live bullets, five bikes, three mobile phones, two backpacks and some daily utility items after the exchange of fire. The encounter continued for around two hours when PLFI cadres opened fire on SFs. Police opened around 20 rounds of fire on PLFI cadres. No casualty or injury was reported during the encounter. SFs comprising of Khunti Police and 94th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were jointly carrying out an anti- Naxal [Left Wing Extremism (LWE)] operation on getting intelligence inputs that PLFI cadres are planning some attacks in the forest area bordering Khunti and Gumla Districts of Jharkhand. The intelligence inputs further confirmed that PLFI ‘area commander’ John Topno along with his armed squad is moving in the bordering area. Some other members of that armed group were identified as Nakul Singh, Bishram Kongari and Wilcon. Topno was along with a dozen PLFI and they decamped in the forest area except Bhengra who was arrested. CPI-Maoist cadres of Kasansoor Dalam (armed squad) were trying to organise a meeting with the villagers regarding tendu leaves contract when the Police got a hint of it. The CPI-Maoist cadres had met the villagers and were supposed to sneak out early in the dawn but their camp was stormed by the C-60 commandos from Gadchiroli and Aheri's Pranhita headquarters. The encounter had taken place during the daybreak. Police had kicked off the operation on May 20 after learning about the CPI-Maoist cadres’ presence in the forest. The deceased Gangaiah, a resident of Bijapur District in Chhattisgarh was admitted for treatment at a hospital by three arrested CPI-Maoist cadres. The arrested CPI-Maoist cadres Savalam Pojja is a Dalam (armed squad) member of CPI-Maoist Dandakaranya South Bastar supply team and Seethaiah is a CPI-Maoist courier and Jogaiah, CPI-Maoist militia member, both hailing from Chintoor Mandal (administrative sub-division) in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh were arrested when they were heading to Chhattisgarh in a car during a vehicle checking drive. Police recovered explosive materials including ten gelatin sticks, three detonators, four batteries and electric wire bundle from the arrested trio. The arrested persons revealed that several key leaders of the CPI-Maoist and its cadres were suffering from Coronavirus in Dandakaranya forest region. The condition of some of the ailing CPI-Maoist cadres deteriorated following the botched treatment by some cadres in the CPI-Maoist Battalion. During a search operation, a joint squad of Venkatapuram Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel nabbed Boodu after a brief chase, when the latter allegedly tried to flee along with several other militia members on noticing the Police in the Pamunuru forest area on May 30. Based on the secret information received by Latehar Superintendent of Police (SP) Prashant Anand that TPC cadres were about to receive levy near Shergarh of Balumath Police Station in Latehar District, Police raiding teams was formed. In the first attempt, Police team caught three TPC militants with a loaded country made revolver and three sets of uniforms. Then on this spot, Jheri Saw of Shergada was arrested with INR 20,000 by Police. Acting on intelligence inputs about a gathering of armed CPI-Maoist cadres for carrying out subversive activities, a search and area domination operation was launched by SFs in bordering areas of Malkangiri and Koraput Districts in Odisha. When the combing operation was on in the jungle area near Kulabeda village, there was sudden unprovoked firing from the CPI-Maoist cadres. The SFs retaliated and started controlled firing after warning and appealing to the Maoists. However, the Maoists managed to flee the area taking advantage of the jungle and hilly terrain. After the exchange of fire, a search operation was conducted during which the arms and ammunition were seized from the area, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rishikesh D Khilari. Police have identified five CPI-Maoist cadres killed in this incident. The identity of the one lady CPI-Maoist cadre is yet to be ascertained. Two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were killed in separate encounters in Abujhmaad area in Orchha Tehsil (revenue unit) in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh on June 19, reports News 18. The District Reserve Guard (DRG) troopers were sent to the forest of Abujhmaad to carry out Operation Monsoon in the core area of Naxalites [Left Wing Extremists (LWEs)] before the monsoon rains start. During the Operation, after killing a Maoist in the encounter on Saturday (June 19) morning, the search operation was continued in the area by the soldiers, and in the afternoon again another encounter took place in the same area in which one more Maoist was killed. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel neutralised a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) hideout at Niyamgiri hills near Tadijhola forest under Lanjigarh Block (administrative unit) in Kalahandi District of Odisha on August 7, and seized cache of explosives, arms and ammunition and other daily use articles from the spot, reports Odisha TV. Based on intelligence reports, CRPF personnel launched a combing operation in the forest and seized huge number of explosives, two pistols, 35 gelatin sticks, 50 detonators, batteries, electric wire, ropes, urea tiffins, 13 live bullets and other incriminating materials with the help of sniffing dogs. “A banner of CPI Maoist Baghuna Division was also recovered from the spot. It is suspected that the group could have hidden the arms and ammunition for any ambush,” said Mitu Roy, a CRPF official, adding that further investigation into the same is underway. According to sources, the Maoists were staying in the area for the last few days and were planning for a big ambush on Independence Day and ‘Kranti Divas’, which was foiled by the security personnel. The security personnel raided the area and seized the arms and ammunition before the Maoists could carry out their plan. However, the Maoists fled the spot.

An official said, the anti-Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation started on August 31 evening after District Police learnt that Maoist ‘commander’ Baleshwar Koda along with his squad are hiding in the forest of Bangali Bandh under Piri Bazar Police Station limits in the District. Dubasi, a resident of Muttarasi Chetla village in Medak District of Telangana, was a member of the Andhra Odisha Special Zone Military Commission. The Security personnel have seized an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle, 10 rounds of ammunition, a mobile phone, one radio, earphones, Amazon kindle, INR 35,000 in cash and other articles from his possessions. During interrogation, Dubasi revealed that he joined the Maoist organisation in 1987 in the Indrapuriyal Zonal Committee in Telangana as a party member. He was promoted to the rank of ‘special zonal committee member’ in 2003 and joined the AOBSZC in 2004. In 2010 he joined the ‘state military commission’ and continued there till date. The DGP said Dubasi was involved in many heinous Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] related violence including the 2009 Damanjodi Exchange of Fire (EOF) in which 10 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were killed, Jodamba EOF in 2018, Doraguda EOF in 2020, Theegalmetta EOF in 2021, Pebbampalli EOF in 2021, Januguda Ambush in 2012 in which four BSF personnel were killed and in Govindapalli land mine blast in 2010 in which 11 Police personnel died. He was involved in two criminal cases in the Koraput District, 18 cases in Malkangiri District, 32 criminal cases in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh and 24 criminal cases in Telangana.

Several weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, were recovered from the encounter site, Police said. Sources said a Jharkhand Jaguar team was on a search operation in Saliya forest area, around 10 kilometres from Latehar District Police headquarters, when the JJMP extremists opened fire on them. During the two-hour gunfight, a Maoist was killed and Deputy Commandant Rajesh Kumar sustained bullet injuries, they said. Kumar was taken to Latehar and then airlifted to Ranchi for treatment. He died at hospital in the course of treatment, a press release issued by Jharkhand Police said. The identity of the slain JJMP cadre is yet to be ascertained.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint team carried out a search operation in the forest area along the outer periphery of Kalvapalli in the early hours of Saturday, Police said, adding, the team found 25 each gelatin sticks and detonators, a large bundle of cloth used to prepare “red flags”, a small bundle of wire, a flash camera, pen drive, Bluetooth speaker, earphones, power bank, battery charger, revolutionary literature and documents pertaining to the resolutions passed at various meetings of the CPI (Maoist) including the Dandakaranya special zone accounts sheets for 2015 and 2016. The spot where the traps were found shares a border with Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, and is said to be the biggest booby trap laid by the Maoists on the tri-State border of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh in recent years. East Godavari, Superintendent of Police (SP), M. Ravindranath Babu, said, “The booby trap is believed to be the traditional technique of Gutti Koya tribe of Chhattisgarh. A major tragedy has been averted with their detection.” The Maoists had laid the booby traps by digging trenches, in which they reportedly planted sharp bamboo arrows and covered them with leaves. The trio mostly targeted industrialists and other businessmen in the Civil Township area in Rourkela and other parts of the Steel City. Police said three 7mm pistols and around 55 rounds of ammunition including few of Self Loading Rifle (SLR) automatic weapons and some Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered from the criminals. Rourkela, superintendent of Police (SP), Mukesh Bhamoo said that around 6-7 cases had been registered against Banti who confessed to have been working for PLFI cadre Arjun Rana. All the three arrestees were working on the instruction of Rana who mostly operates from Jharkhand. He used to hire criminals to run his extortion and other organised crime syndicate in Rourkela. “Most of these criminals work in small groups. Each of them has specific roles. While some would conduct recee, the others would threaten businessman by firing or hurling bombs to extort money,” said SP, Bhamoo, adding that the criminals used to smuggle Ganja to Jharkhand from Odisha. The combing operation was launched by a joint team comprising Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Volunteer Force (DVF) Malkangiri after receipt of credible inputs regarding presence of the Maoists on October 14, 2021. However, an exchange of fire broke out between the SFs and Left-Wing Extremists (LWEs) on October 15. The slain Maoist was identified as Pramod Koda, whose body was recovered from Lathia Pahari along with an AK47 rifle, Police said. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), operation, Sushil M Khopde said Lakhisarai Police launched a search and rescue operation following information that some Maoists were hiding in the forest area of Bhagatpur after abducting the son of a Public Distribution System (PDS) dealer. “At around 10pm, the STF team came under heavy firing by the Maoists and fired back in self-defense,” said Khopde, adding that one Maoist was killed in the exchange of fire that lasted for about one-and-a-half hours, following which, the rebels escaped into the forest. Search operations have been intensified in the area to trace the abducted person, the official said. Pidi Bazar Station House Officer (SHO), Prajesh Kumar Dubey said armed Maoists attacked the house of PDS dealer Bhagwat Prasad at Chaukara and abducted his son Deepak Prasad (24). Koda, along with his associates, was fleeing after abducting the PDS dealer’s son for a ransom of INR 10 million. The bullet-ridden body of Oraon was found in his bed under a tree where he was sleeping. JJMP cadres had set up a temporary camp in the forest area of Lawadag. His body was recovered after Gumla Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manish Chandra Lal and Gumla circle inspector SN Mandal reached the village on October 31 morning. Police recovered around a dozen spent cartridges, INR 3,200 cash. It seems that he was shot dead either by INSAS [Indian Small Arms System] assault rifle or AK 47. There were seven bullet injuries on his body. Police also recovered his mobile phone and other things from the camp. Sources in the Police said that Naxal [Left Wing Extremist, LWE] was probably killed by his men following a dispute over the distribution of ‘levy’ (extortion money). Oraon was active in Gumla District for the past nine years and he had expanded the base of JJMP in the District. But he is said to be never shared ‘levy’ money with his team.

Police unearthed as many as 110 booby traps set up by cadres of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in the forests near Yarrampadu village in Cherla Mandal (administrative sub-division) in Bhadradri Kothagudem District of Telangana on November 3, reports Telangana Today. Circle Inspector (CI) of Police, B Ashok in a statement stated that Cherla Police, Special Party personnel and 141 Bn ‘A’ Coy Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel jointly carried out a combing operation in the forests and found the booby traps laid in the hillocks near Yarrampadu village. The Police team removed and seized over 500 iron and wooden spikes planted in 110 pits. Maoists threatened and forced villagers of Puttaparthi, Pesarlapadu, Nimmalagudem, Jettepadu and other villages along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh State border to dig pits to plant booby traps, he said. Maoists are setting up booby traps targetting the Police personnel. But the booby traps have been injuring and killing cattle and innocent tribal people when they unknowingly stepped on the traps. Many people from Pusuguppa, Battinapalli, Chennapuram, Yarrampadu, Cherla and other villages have suffered severe injuries and lost limbs because of booby traps and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosions, CI, Ashok said.

Eight Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were arrested from a forest near Morpalli village under Chintalnar Police Station limits in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh early on November 6 (today), reports republicworld.com. Among the arrested were Kawasi Raju alias Santu, known as a 'battalion member', and Kalmu Mada, a 'militia company commander', Superintendent of Police (SP), Sunil Sharma, informed. The two Maoists had a reward of INR 800,000 and INR 500,000 on themselves. The identities of the other six Maoists are yet to be ascertained. SP, Sharma stated that an FIR has been lodged against all eight accused and the Armed Forces have recovered explosive devices and equipment. As per Police, 35 detonators, six gelatin rods, two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), batteries, wires and other unlicensed objects and tools were seized from their possession. The four persons, who were arrested on November 6, had allegedly planned extortions and robberies in Hyderabad and Yadadri Bhongir, Police said, adding that three country-made firearms along with live rounds, detonators, gas cylinders, drilling machines, letterheads of the Maoist party, mobile phones and other material were seized from them. The arrested persons were identified as P. Srinivas alias Srinanna (45) from Jangaon, V. Naga Mallaiah alias Mallesh (58) from Yadadri Bhongir, E. Srinivas Reddy alias Chandranna (49) from Chikkadpally and G. Swamy alias Mallesh (55) from Nalgonda. One suspect, Ashok, was absconding. The accused are identified as Avinash Kumar alias Chhunu Sharma, CRPF jawan posted with the 182nd Battalion, Rishi Kumar and Pankaj Kumar Singh. A total of 450 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition used in INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifles were recovered based on their information. On November 15, ATS Superintendent of Police (SP), Prashant Anand said, “We succeeded in arresting the trio while working in close coordination with the Bihar Special Task Force. The accused have supplied a huge quantity of ammunition to the CPI (Maoist) and criminal organisations, including the notorious Aman Sao group. The ATS has got vital information regarding sources of arms and ammunition during the interrogation of arrested persons. Further investigation is going on in the case.” The accused were arrested between November 14 and 16 during raids in Ranchi, Patna and Gaya. On the basis of secret information received by Superintendent of Police (SP), Anjani Anjan, the seven LWEs including the ‘supremo’ of the organization have been arrested from Patki Forest of Sadar Police Station area. The SP told that for the last one month, contractors, traders and brick kiln owners were being threatened to kill in Latehar District by Shankar Ram alias Saurabh by forming an organization called JKM. Extortion was being demanded. The Police was keeping an eye on it, and eventually, the entire organization came together in the hands of the Police. The raiding team arrested two uniformed cadres, including a woman, on a motorcycle from near Patki Forest, with loaded pistols, live bullets, Naxalite cards, mobile phones. They were identified as Saurabh and Zarina Khatoon alias Haseena Khatoon alias Haseena. Saurav used to work in Maoist’s splinter organization JJMP in the past. He has been to jail before, and after coming out of jail, he started organizing the organization by intimidating him and getting involved in the work of collecting the ‘levy’ (extortion money). SP, Anjan said that Monu has already been jailed from Hussainabad in the Arms Act case. At the same time, the arrested Om Prakash has been an active member of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), a splinter group of the CPI-Maoist, in the past. A case has been registered in this case under the Arms Act at Latehar Police Station. A significant cache of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), detonators, and other incriminating materials were recovered during an anti-Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) operations in Malkangiri District of Odisha on December 16, reports ommcomnews.com. The joint operation comprised personnel of the District Voluntary Force (DVF), Special Operation Group (SOG) and Border Security Force (BSF) and was carried out in the erstwhile cut-off area (Swabhiman Anchal) under Jodambo Police limits. The operation was carried out following the establishment of a new BSF company operating base (COB) at Ghanabeda, which received a tip-off on a Maoist dump near Nadmenjeri village. After receiving the input, a joint team was formed which carried out extensive searches and recovered the dump in a forested area of Nadmenjeri under Jantri Gram Panchayat under Jodambo Police limits, Superintendent of Police (SP) Prahlad Meena said. As many as five IEDs, three metres of Codex wire, three detonators, two batteries, iron scrap, Maoist literature, polythene sheets, lithium button cells, and several other Maoist materials were seized. “It is suspected that the explosives and other articles were intended to be target civilians and security forces,” Meena said.

Dantewada, Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Pallava, said, "On a tip-off a team of Dantewada district reserve guards (DRG) was out on search operation. When the forces arrived close to the forested terrain of Gonderas near Aranpur, the rebels opened fire resulting into an exchange of fire. The forces later recovered two female bodies of the banned outfit from the encounter site." The slain bodies were identified as Hidme Kohrame, Mallanger ‘area committee member, (ACM)’ of Darbha Division and Pojje, head of Chetna Natya Mandli (CNM), the outfit's cultural troupe, in Nilawaya of Mallanger area committee. Kohrame and Pojje carried the reward of INR 500,000 and INR 100,000 respectively on their heads. The SP said that the SFs also recovered three locally-made rifles, ammunition, explosives and items of daily use from the spot and the search operation in the region has been intensified.

An Assistant Constable of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was injured when Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres denoted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on December 21, reports Deccan Chronicle. Dantewada's Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Pallava said, the incident took place around 8.30 am when a joint team of various Security Forces (SFs) was out on a road security operation near Bodli camp, located over 400 kilometres from the State capital Raipur. A team of personnel belonging to the DRG, the Special Task Force (STF) and the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) had launched the operation on a hypersensitive patch from Bodli towards Kariametta village, he said, adding that about 650 metres away from the camp, Maoists hiding in a forest triggered an IED blast in which an assistant constable received minor splinter injuries. The rebels also exploded another command pipe IED in the area at around 10 am to target SFs, but the latter escaped unhurt, SP, Pallava added. Later, SFs cordoned off the entire area and recovered four live IEDs, planted by Maoists.

The combing operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) took place at Patadhara Reserve Forest area and the Maoists started firing at the SFs and the team retaliated. However, the Maoists managed to flee from the spot and the SFs spotted a Maoist camp. The SFs conducted a raid and seized tiffin bombs and other explosive substances from the camp.

Huge cache of explosives and Communist party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) items were seized during a joint operation by District Police and Border Security Force (BSF) in the general area of Swabhiman Anchal under Jodamba Police limits in Malkangiri District of Odisha, bordering Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, on December 31, reports ommcomnews.com. Reportedly, on the basis of specific information, an intensive search and area domination was conducted by Malkangiri Police and BSF resulting in uncovering of one major Maoist dump near the jungle area in between Taber and Arlingpada village under Jantri Gram Panchayat (village level local self-Government institution). This led to the recovery and seizure of a large quantity of explosives, Maoist literature, medicines, and other incriminating articles. It is suspected that these articles were intended to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and to target civilians and Police Forces.
