According to official sources, Wassan Singh Zaffarwal, chief of the Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) was arrested by the Majitha police on April 11. Zaffarwal has been one of the most dreaded terrorists and was declared an offender in more than a dozen cases including those of murder. During the hey days of terrorism in Punjab, he was a member of Damdami Taksal and a follower of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. He was also a member of the Panthic Committee headed by Gurbachan Singh Manochahal. Later, he developed differences with Gurbachan Singh Manochahal and formed his own Panthic Committee. He also floated Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and was responsible for many terrorism-related incidents not only in Punjab but also in Rajasthan, Gujarat and other parts of North India.

A Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Wani has reportedly been arrested, but his identity couldn’t be ascertained immediately. Ayub has also reportedly disclosed that the Al Qaeda had spread its network in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), New Delhi, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, besides to a couple of other Indian cities much before the United States declared a war on Taliban and Al Qaeda. According to news sources, Ayub was arrested from an official quarter in Poonch House, Panjtirthi on the basis of specific information about his infiltration into the City. The police also seized 1.8 kg of explosives, four live electronic detonators, three mobile phones, five phone cards and Rs 67,000 in cash from the two alleged terrorists, both residents of Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir. An additional Rs 1.48 million of hawala money was seized in subsequent raids. During interrogation, the terrorists reportedly told the police that they were working for the HM Chief Syed Salahuddin and had come to Delhi to collect hawala money and pass it on to terrorist outfits in Jammu and Kashmir.
