During interrogation, the surrendered militants reportedly confessed to have used Hiracherra as exit route to desert their camps. They added in their confession that that they had to travel a long way from Chittagong, adjacent to Dhalai district, to reach Hiracherra. According to police sources, militants use the border village of Hiracherra as corridor to move, since it is easy to take Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, or Guwahati bound vehicles from Heracherra near Kumarghat, which is located on the Assam-Tripura National Highway-44.
