Three labourers of Punjabi ethnicity were shot dead and another was injured by unidentified assailants in Killi Khurasani area of Mangochar tehsil(revenue unit) in Kalat District of Balochistan on February 9, reports Dawn. All the victims belonged to the Sadiqabad tehsil of Rahim Yar Khan District in Punjab.The labourers were hired to dig for a tube well on the land of Pir Jan Mohammad Hasni.“Armed men opened fire on the four labourers in the early hours of Monday morning when they were sleeping in their camp in Killi Khurasani, resulting in the death of three of them,” senior Levies officer Risaldar Major Mohammad Akbar Mengal said, adding that one of the labourers was injured.

The attackers took away all the ammunition and weapons belonging to FC and set ablaze the outpost.BLA claimed responsibility for the attack.In a media statement, BLA’s spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch claimed that several personnel of Pakistani military were killed and injured in the attack.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed five Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) militants in Mastung town (Mastung District) of Balochistan on March 7, reports Samaa TV. According to the spokesperson of the CTD, the operation was conducted after an arrested BLA militant revealed that five of their associates were residing in a house in Mastung and were planning an attack in Quetta. When the Police reached the house, the suspects opened fire at the officers. Five were killed during the exchange of fire, while others fled. The slain militants were identified as Shah Nazar, Arif Mari, Yousaf Mari, Samiullah and Jameel Ahmed. “We have seized 10 kilogrammes of explosives, detonators, and three Kalashnikovs,” the spokesperson said.

At least five persons, including a Police official, were killed and 12 others sustained injuries when a bomb exploded in the parking lot of the Serena Hotel located on the Shahrah-e-Zarghun Road in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, in the night of April 21, reports Dawn. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Azhar Ikram said that the explosive device was apparently fitted in a vehicle, according to initial investigations. Addressing a press conference, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said that the Chinese ambassador being the apparent target of the attack. Langove said that the ambassador was not present at the hotel when the explosion occurred. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the blast, adds Samaa TV.

Four Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were killed while six others were injured when militants ambushed them during a fencing activity along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Manzakai sector in Zhob District of Balochistan on May 5, reports Dawn. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the troops were moving for fencing activity along the border when "terrorists from Afghanistan ambushed" them. The killed soldiers were identified as Havaldar Noor Zaman, Sepoy Shakeel Abbas, Sepoy Ehsan Ullah and Naik Sultan. The Foreign Office (FO), in a statement issued said that around 20 militants were involved in the attack and they used small arms and heavy weapons.

Three Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were killed and another one was injured in an attack on Khalid check-post in the coalmine filed area of Margret area in Bolan District of Balochistan, in the evening of May 8, reports The Express Tribune. According to a statement of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the militants targeted FC troops deployed on security duties in Margret area. "During exchange of fire, three FC soldiers embraced shahadat (martyrdom) while one got injured," the statement added. The killed soldiers were identified as Lance Naik Syed Hussain Shah, Sepoy Faisal Mehmood and Sepoy Nauman-ur-Rehman.

A spokesman for the CTD said the operation was planned on the basis of intelligence reports about the presence of militants. “Four terrorists were killed in the operation, including a key commander of banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) identified as Riaz Thekedar,” the CTD spokesman said. The other three militant killed in the operation were identified as Fazal-ur-Rehman, Syed Ramzan and Syed Matiullah. Two other militants managed to escape. A cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the militant hideout. According to the CTD officials, Riaz was a key TTP commander and was involved in terrorist attacks on Security Forces and an attack on Civil Hospital Quetta in 2016 in which a large number of lawyers and other people were killed. He was also involved in target killings, motorcycle bomb attacks in Pishin, bank robberies and kidnapping of the son of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party leader Sardar Mustafa Tareen.

According to CTD statement, “The CTD Balochistan got credible source information that a large group of [proscribed] Balochistan Liberation Front terrorists [is] moving from Afghanistan in the general area of Kohar Dam [in] district Loralai and [they] are planning to attack a sensitive installation”. The CTD conducted an operation at a compound in Kohar Dam. An exchange of fire ensued and seven militants were killed, while three others fled. A cache of weapons was recovered from the compound. Four of the seven dead were identified as Sadam Hussain, Abdul Ghani, Abdul Ahad and Ameer Jan.

Director General of Police (DGP) Syed Fida Hussain Shah said that 2.5 kilogrammes of explosives were planted on a pole near the site of the blast.
