The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on January 13 arrested three Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA) cadres during a raid in Mochko area on Northern Bypass in Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports ARY News. The CTD spokesperson said that a raid was conducted on a tip-off in Mochko area in which three SRA cadres were arrested while two other cadres managed to escape. Explosive material and arms were recovered from the possession of the arrested cadres. According to the spokesperson, the arrested cadres confessed of their involvement in bomb blasts and murders in Sindh. They also revealed that they received orders regarding the target and other items for the terror activities from a senior SRA cadre namely Inam Abbasi.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on January 31, arrested a Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) terrorist, identified as Kamran Ali aka Kami Rind and recovered explosive material from his possession during an operation in Tando Mohammad Khan town (Tando Mohammad Khan District) of Sindh, reports Dawn. Kamran Ali is a resident of Radhan town of Dadu District. Besides explosives weighed around 450 kgs, two non-electric detonators were seized from him, CTD officials said, adding that he was residing in Karachi Central Prison’s staff colony. Kamran Ali confessed that he belonged to the SRA and wanted to target members of law enforcement agency personnel near Tando Mohammad Khan bypass.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on February 8 arrested a Daesh ‘commander’ during a raid in Korangi Industrial area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports ARY News. According to the CTD officials, the arrested ‘commander’ was identified as Abdul Malik. A pistol along with rounds was seized from their possession, the CTD officials added. The initial investigation of CTD revealed that Abdul Malik is associated with Daesh’s Mula Abdul Manan group since 2011. The arrestee is an Afghan national, who is residing in Karachi for a long time. CTD officials further said that the arrestee used to collect donations in Ramzanul Mubarak and was sending them to Daesh in Afghanistan.

Police on February 13 arrested a Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA) cadre involved in several terrorist activities including a gun attack on a Chinese citizen from Mailr Town area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports ARY News. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Irfan Bahadur said that the arrested SRA cadre, identified as Raja Adnan, was involved in several terrorist activities in Karachi and interior Sindh. The Counterterrorism Department (CTD) on February 15 arrested a Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA) cadre, from an undisclosed location of Jamshoro District, reports Dawn. CTD SSP Asif Bughio said that the cadre, a resident of Ghotki, was “involved in subversive activities since 2012”. “He had been carrying out explosions in high transmission lines and railway tracks until last year,” Bughio said. Two terrorists, possessing 1,000 detonators, were arrested during a joint operation by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) from North Nazimabad area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, on February 15, reports Dawn. According to the statement from SIU Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Junaid Ahmed Sheikh, the two terrorists were “arrested with explosive materials” while a search was under way to find their third partner, who manage to flee. SSP Sheikh said that 1,000 detonators were obtained from the arrested suspects while two coil detonators were also seized. During the preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to bringing the explosives from Peshawar to Karachi to be used in “terrorist activities”, the press release said.

Police on February 20 arrested one Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist from the Chakiwara area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports ARY News. According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arif Aziz, the terrorist was identified as Saim Umar. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on March 2 recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Paposh area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports ARY News. Two suspects named Fahad Baloch and Zahid Baloch were also arrested in the raid. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on April 26 arrested two Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists, identified as Muhammad Kamal Khan and Abdul Qadir, from an undisclosed location of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports Dawn. A spokesman for the SIU said that the arrested terrorists were involved in targeted killings and extortion. The terrorists confessed to their involvement in several crimes which they committed on the orders of TTP leadership in Afghanistan. The terrorists had demanded protection money from a trader in the Saddar area. They along with their other accomplices, murdered Qayyum Goshtwala in the Banaras area for non-payment of extortion, spokesman said, adding that cases pertaining to the both incidents were registered at the Preedy and Pirabad police stations, respectively. In 2022, the terrorists killed Saeed Ahmed, a citizen of Afghan origin, in the Gulshan-i-Maymar area on the suspicion of spying on TTP for a foreign intelligence agency. The TTP leadership in Afghanistan had paid them Rs2 million for the murder, spokesman added.

In a statement, the CTD said “The CTD’s LeJ (Lashkar-i-Jhangvi) cell in-charge carried out an action in Patel Para and arrested Hafiz Qasim Rasheed alias Bilal and recovered [a] hand grenade and unlicensed 30-bore pistol along with six bullets from his custody.” It added that the suspect had allegedly orchestrated the killings of renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was gunned down in 2016 in Karachi, as well as the 2010 killing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Raza Haider.
